Just when you think you have doctrine all figured out, along comes a sentence you never noticed before and it's back to the drawing board! I think God designed it that way to make us develop intellectual and emotional rigor.

Personally I love repentance. It is a beautiful gift from our loving Father who loves us deeply!

Repentance comes with the hearing of Christ and what He has already done.

Romans 10:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

We should be living in a constant mode of repenting ( changing our minds about what we believe ) whenever we hear a new truth about the beauty of our Lord.

The word "repentance" - metanoia as been shown by others simply in the original greek means " to change the mind
" or "change the way we are thinking".

Jesus said it best in Mark 1:15 "Repent and believe in the gospel." ( which means the nearly too good to be true news )

To us it means to change our mind to stop relying on ourselves and our thinking and turn to God. Stop living our own life with our own thinking and come to Christ and let His life live through and in you. Receive all that Jesus did for us in His finished work.

We should be repenting ( changing how we think towards something ) constantly as we see the Lord's true nature, love and grace revealed to and in us.

There will always be "fruits" of having a changed mind ( having already repented ) to God but the "fruit" is not the repentance within itself.

True repentance is the "root" before the "fruit" comes.

The fruit will manifest itself in the form of having a changed heart because we are a new creation in Christ.

And yes - this includes how we think towards all forms of sinning such as living the homosexual lifestyle to the slandering of others in the body of Christ. These are in the same lists together as works of the flesh.

This will also show in behavior as the life of Christ transforms our outward life to reflect what has already happened in our inner man - that new creation in Christ
.

Sometimes our religious traditions can "hi-jack" the meanings of words and can present false assumptions.

Here is a video for those that like to watch them that talks about how the English word "repent" got hi-jacked by religion.

Hi Grace...I have not clicked the video, but to me repentance is saying to God when i have sinned " Yes Lord you are right and i am wrong "...It`s the Holy Spirit who calls to our mind when we go of the narrow path, if we ignore His warning, then we fall in the ditch, no ditch is to deep that His arm can not reach us, this is what makes me sincerely repent because of His goodness...What a wonderful God we serve...xox...No way i am saying to go a head and sin because He will come looking for us, that to me is mocking God, but we all go over the boundaries, each and everyone of us, He is a long suffering God amonst everything else that is so beautiful about Him...xox...Unmerited favor... \o/...

Thank you so much, Rosemary. :)

I am a child of The Most High God. I have been born again. Jesus is Everything to me. So many times, He has come down & lifted me out of the pits I have dug for myself.

Yet, even though I am in The Word daily, & crying out to Him constantly, I feel (& act, too, I believe) as if I'm so very far from Him. Something is seriously wrong with my heart. I just wish I knew what it was.
Hi Terrie...Ooh how that evil one crouches at our door, waiting to pounce to snatch every moral that our Lord feeds us:rolleyes:...But guess what, that evil one can not snatch you out the palm of our Lords hand, the battle is in your own mind, in your own thinking, this is why we need to renew our mind every day...If i am feeling in secure, it is no good me searching Scriptures on anger, that will not help me one bit, i will need to go to Scriptures that that teach me how much i am loved by God, and NOTHING can separates us from His love...You must remember our feelings are fickle, they come and go like the wind, just because you feel like their is something toward does not mean there is:), the evil was is smarter then you, he has known you since birth, tell him to get behind you in the powerful name of Jesus, he will flee...Forget what you feel, no who you are in CHRIST, the evil one wants you to ponder on your your shaky thoughts, you are feeding him a morsel, we all have our areas where we shake, we all have doubts one way or another, but the we do not have to believe them, it is written, we are sealed :), we have a guarantee :)...We have hills and mountains, valleys and pits, but above all these things we have God, we have our Lord, for we are saved:eek:...xox...

Yes, Rosemary, if.....

I hate to say this, in a way, & in another way, I don't, but I don't think I have any of those Spiritual Fruits. I would simply love it it if I could have just one.

I know not having them is all my fault but do not know exactly what I'm doing wrong, or which way to turn to make it Right.

Hey, Terrie!

It's good to see you back again. :)

If you belong to Christ, you have every single one. Part of being discipled and part of the sanctification process, the growth in Christ, is where we will grow in the fruit of the Spirit. It's one fruit, but multi faceted. We all learn to grow in them as we walk by faith. Let's see what Peter says about your faith and mine. :)

1 Peter 1:1-9
Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

Here we have Peter assuring us that the divine power of God has giving us everything we need that pertains to our lives and to living godly. And we receive this divine power through the true knowledge of God.

This is where we ask ourselves if we have the true knowledge of God. We find that true knowledge is received through the new birth, through the power of the Holy Spirit and through reading God's word. They all work in unison. We must know the word of God so that we can hide His truths in our hearts.

Many will rely of experiences which can be deceitful and are not meant to be a plumb line for truth. Experiences happen because God is at work in us, but the experiences don't determine truth. We can have a false experience and think it's God. Too many use their experiences to determine truth and I thin that's how we veer from truth at times.

For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

My heart soars when I read about the love of God and what He's done for us. His promises are precious to me. So precious that I want to treat them with great care and not take them for granted because at times I do. They are such great promises........through those promises we realize that we are partakers of God's divine nature.

Part of our ability to walk in the Spirit and walk in truth is when we find out what we are in Christ, who we are and what we have in Christ.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

Peter is reminding up to be diligent in our faith. We must
apply what we have in Christ. We have the fruit of the Spirit, we've been given this great promise as a gift. We don't have the fruit on our own, but we have them because of the new birth. So it's kind of like saying don't let the fruit sit on the shelf, but apply them to your lives.

You have Faith so apply it to your life circumstances.
You have moral excellence
You have knowledge
You have self control
You have perseverance
You have godliness,
You have brotherly kindness
You have love

So Peter is exhorting us to live in them and grow in them. We can't supply something we don't already have and we have all those things because we're in Christ and He's gifted us with them.

Knowing you have these precious promises is half the battle. :)

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.

And what a freeing promise it is to know when we grow in them and increase in the fruit of the Spirit we will always be useful and we'll always be fruitful. Again it's the true
knowledge of our Lord that empowers us to be able to walk in the truth and in His ways.

Be encouraged sister. God has not left you as an orphan. You are a child of God, adopted by our Heavenly Father.........and we cry out Abba.......Daddy. And you are gifted with everything you need to live godly because we're in Christ and the Holy Spirit continues to lead us - guide us - and grow us up to maturity. :) Bless you Terrie!

Hi all...I just want to apologize to Ariel on the tread because it is where i made my comments for all to see on her posts...Just because off what i feel when someone post something and i do not like how i feel the post come across should not cause me to act in the flesh, and that is what i done and i am sorry Ariel for this:(...If it was a response from the Holy Spirit that i made my remarks then i would not have a heavy heart about it, but i do, so that makes me wrong...We all have different ways on how we respond to each other, and i do not have any right to make a judgement just because it don`t fit my box...If it was a Scripture matter then so be it, but it wasn't , once again i am sorry...xox...

I agree that there can be just "mental assent" to things which could be or could not be birthed from a heart that has been born-again. Only God knows the hearts of the people.

All true Christians have this experience in Eph. 1:13 and true faith is a matter of the heart and not in our heads although getting our minds renewed to the truths of Christ will bring a manifestation of His life to us while on this earth.

Ephesians 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,
true faith is amatter of the heart and only God knows the heart you say..

ok lets look at this theology..

your saying here that faith is a heart condition and God knows your heart for what exactly ? true faith ? to believe he is the son is only one part... you must believe this to the end...then your seal becomes eternal salvation i wreckon... you see that or have you allready recieved yours ?

You make that easy to do, because you refuse to explain how christian growth takes place in your theology.

There will always be this huge "hole" in HG because no one can explain how people "grow unto maturity" in it.
I like the way you sneaked that HG in there.

i dont think he realises that this is our faith where talking about,,, he will come round hopefully..
Hi Jimbo...Ephesians 1:13-14 says 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory....The Scripture does not say we WILL have, it says we were which means we have...xox...

Amen! In Titus 2:11-12, the grace of God that brings salvation has "appeared to all men." (Yet that does not mean that all men will accept God's gift of eternal life through faith). God's grace (enabling power) is unmerited and brings salvation through faith (Ephesians 2:8) and in Titus 2:11-12, the "grace of God" also teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in the present age.
Amen brother.....

It's NEVER a waste of time to learn to love each other and bear with one another. That's what He is truly trying to bring us to in these threads. :) He's very patient.

Your teaching is neither Pauline nor Biblical

Nonsense.

We are not condemned because of "He", not "we".
I would like to respond but it needs more content.
Saying nonsense alone is no sense because it is just expressing a reaction but not saying why.
If someone was describing how to cook a meal to a gym class, this is non sense.

So please can you expand your point, thanks.

You read my mind. Some want others to either agree with them or disappear.
It shows itself by not exploring others world's, and trusting they are sincere in their own way.

What has made me sit up is to be told how evil I am quoting Jesus etc.
The emotional feeling is " I have the right to disown you from Christ"

The ironic thing is if you knew Christ you would know ones walk defines where you are, and always
it is a privilege to walk with others and share the gift of love our Lord has given us.
I would pray all just take following to heart and be less concerned as to their neighbours state,
but rather listen and follow Christ while encouraging those around to likewise follow.
