I was told by a leader that I don't really need to do anything in terms of pursuing a relationship as everyone is given a mate just like how adam met eve .. i'm not so sure on that tho .

Nope. Not everyone is given a mate. There are many people who remain single for the rest of their lives. Did Paul ever marry? Sure he was quite occupied with the ministry, but my point is there is no guarantees in life and it may not be your calling. AND some Christians don't even have the desire to marry, so it not that simple.
Proverbs 31:10 says:
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Seems to imply some sort of active search is going on here.
Seek God and ask Him what He wants you to do. You can date every eligible person in your area and never marry or you could date once and marry an abusive, spiteful person. How do you know what to do? Ask God and receive the answer He gives you. Wait on the Lord. This doesn't mean sitting back and doing nothing, it means pursuing a relationship with God, doing what He has called you to do, and seeking to be holy as He is holy. To know Christ and make Christ known should be the focus of every follower of Christ. In the pursuit of God, you will find others who pursue with the same devotion, desire and passion and, when God's timing is right, He will reveal His intentions for marriage to you.
However, if you are content in single life and do not burn with a desire to have sexual intimacy, it is better to remain as you are and devote your life to God and pleasing Him, rather than being divided between the desires of your spouse and the time you can then spend with God, and this is according to Paul.

Adam and eve were a special case. Bible talks a lot more about thinks like taking a wife or asking or searching for one than sit on your butt and wait for God to drop something in your lap. You should be intelligent about the search but if you want it and God hasn't said no then go for it.

Sounds like this leader should read his Bible and see what God has to say about that.
Matthew 19:12
"For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother's womb [people who just have no sexual desire], and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men [yeah...ow], and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake [those who choose to focus only on serving Christ and forsaking earthly companionship]. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it."
Doesn't sound to me like Christ is saying that everyone is given a mate here.
I Corinthians 7:8, 27, 32-34
"But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am [Paul is believed by most scholars to be a widower, so here he is urging singles to stay single like himself.]...Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife...But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord - how he may please the Lord. But he who is married cares about the things of the world - how he may please his wife. There is a difference between a wife and a virgin [more specific usage here is unmarried woman, rather than a purely sexual state]. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world - how she may please her husband."
Hmm. Sounds like the apostle Paul doesn't agree with your leader's interpretation, either.

Again, this is about "who" and not "what". We singles have this frustration to know if he or she the right or wrong person for you to marry. It always been like Paul said to his preaching, marriage is about good for you to marry or better for you to stay single.
