Here is a good example of what I have been saying. "Paul contended, debated so it must be good." Ref Acts 18:28 Here is a man debating the Word, but He has it wrong. How does that help or grow anybody?
Paul did NOT argue, contend or debate the Jews proving the scriptures in this case at least. It was a man names Apollo. He knew the Word very well, and used it to convince the Jews that Jesus is messiah. He did not debate, he taught.

Acts 18:24-28
[/SUP]Meanwhile, a Jewish man named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent speaker with a thorough knowledge of the Tanakh. [SUP]25 [/SUP]This man had been informed about the Way of the Lord, and with great spiritual fervor he spoke and taught accurately the facts about Yeshua, but he knew only the immersion of Yochanan. [SUP]26 [/SUP]He began to speak out boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the Way of God in fuller detail. [SUP]27 [/SUP]When he made plans to cross over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote the talmidim there to welcome him. On arrival, he greatly helped those who through grace had come to trust; [SUP]28 [/SUP]for he powerfully and conclusively refuted the unbelieving Jews in public, demonstrating by the Tanakh that Yeshua is the Messiah.
What good is it to argue, debate, contend when we get it all wrong? Lets discuss the Word and help each other get it right.
