Deborah ruled Israel, she settled disputes between the people and told Barak what God wanted him to do, therefore I would imagine she had spiritual authority over him.

I don't think it comes down to whether women are permitted/forbidden to teach, or which gender is the smartest or best at speaking. I think it all comes down to leadership, and how you want to structure your families and societies. Systems where men are encouraged, developed for, and entrusted with leadership roles are much more successful, becuase they build off some of the natural differences and abilities God has gifted to each gender.

Think about it. In the old testament, when God brought down societies, it was by destroying their strong men, their leaders of 50, etc.

The bible asks us to study to show thyselves approved, when you study the bible it is of most importance that you have good study aids (not so much commentaries, theya re just anothers viewpoint) but greek and hebrew dictionaries to understand what Paul meant by what he said. Also the woman then would call out to their husband because they didnt understand what was being said and therefore being disruptive to the congregation. Also women were uneducated then and didnt have very high standing in society. It was either be a wife and mother or a prostitute. Everything must be in comtext!! Once i really dug into the bible I really came to appreciate why God told us to study to show thyself approved. I think the other thing to be said here is you know when someone is anointed to preach and if that happens to be a women who are we to question God! All God is looking for is anyone who is prepared to be humble and prayerful, to love Him first and foremost, love the word, walk in spirit and truth. I'll listen to anyone doing that whom God has chosen to speak....man or women

That would be your job,unless you could find A SINCERE and blessed teacher;It took me over 30 years to find one after i had just given up on CHRIST; and then I guess you could say I didn't find anything as I am figuring HE found me, totaly lost! Well the real problem of your statement is it means we would have to believe that the Bible is not inerrant to accept your point of view. Which in turn means anything can be dismissed from the Bible just because we believe it is "unjust". Following that road further we would eventually become like the liberal Episcopalians. So to summarize, your belief would open every single Christian belief to being "just a mistake".

I will quicky state where I stand then somewhat contradict myself...lol

First, I am of the sort that find female pastors both sketchy and shady. Sketchy because they spiritually don't feel right, and shady because it seems like that feeling a little kid gets when his mom asks him to clean his room and he sweeps the dirt under the rug...

That said, I will also state something I find strange. I find it strange that taken to an extreme, as I have seen it done quite a few times, this belief that women cannot preach the word to any man becomes rediculuous. It seems to be rediculous to allow a woman to speak to men on any other issue except Jesus Christ and true faith.

I would ask the avid supporters of this view, if they are against woman professors, woman elementary school teachers, woman middle school teachers, woman high school teachers, and mothers in general? We do not blame woman for speaking on worldly stuff, but are we really to ask them to teach us nothing about the Lord?

Am I to accept a woman philosophy professor who teaches me her beliefs on atheism but crucify her if she mentions Christ? thats absurd!

I am not sure if I support woman sunday school teachers or not? Should they teach men stuff (because they do not know what the boys will experience) or not? I am still wondering this...

I just in my heart, as I have stated before, believe that to force every women to never teach men anything about faith or the Word or the Lord and allow them to teach anything else is bonkers...but thats just my view.

My opinion will probably have me shunned by many of my beautiful sisters. I believe God when he gave instruction in this regard & whether I like it or not women should not lead the church. I have no problem with women ministering to one another but a woman should not have authority over a man.
Women & men are made up differently for good reason & how we react to things differs. Regardless of how we beat our heads against walls of equality its true... we are made up different and intended for different purposes. My friends would just DIE to hear me speak these words... such a seemingly liberated woman I am... I am liberated by the Lord though & my husband who loves me.

Funny as it is, I even laughed myself, I feel that some words I heard from a wise man by the name of Zac Poonen should be shared when on this subject.


First, let's look at an excerpt of Genesis 3 from the NIV.

10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
11 And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
12 The man said, "The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it." 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?"
The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

I highlighted two portions, in orange. The reason being they are similar. In those two statements, the first by adam, the second by eve. What is happening, is they are avoiding the question, and ultimately, the problem... which is disobeying the command of God. They go on and on, avoiding it right up until they end, where it is highlighted in blue. They ate. In the highlighted Orange, they steer from the question, and blame someone else.

I'm not saying I don't do it either, of course we all have and will play the blame game at point point or another, I won't lie about that. I just felt that should be corrected, when on the subject of women preachers.


Now, onto the subject at hand.


The bible does state in many points, that the church is to be headed by the male. Do I personally agree to this? I don't know. I went to a methodist church a couple years when I was younger because my mother wanted me to be "exposed to that stuff". There, we had a woman pastor. Looking back, she was one of the better pastors I've seen. I've only met four though. Two methodist, two baptist.

I would like this question to be answered.

Is it better to have a female pastor, that is more correct in her teaching of the bible and what it commands/promises etc... or to have a male pastor, that is not so correct?

I have met many godly women. Looking back, there is one in particular, I wish I had asked for her counsel on the existance of God or lack thereof when I was younger. I think she would of done a lot more good, than some of the spiritually luke-warm, or spiritually non-existant males that were around me.


I would say, based on what the bible says, in most cases it is probably safer to have male pastors. I feel bad for saying that, as I am male. To me, it feels like favoring my gender, just because........ it's my gender.
