Mat 13:39 (Young's) and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers
Jesus tells us that the harvest was to be at the end of the age - when was the end of the age and what age was Jesus living in?
1 Co 2:7 (Young's) but we speak the hidden wisdom of God in a secret, that God foreordained before the ages to our glory,
1 Co 2:8 (Young's) which no one of the rulers of this age did know, for if they had known, the Lord of the glory they would not have crucified.
Paul is stating in the above that the "rulers" of the age he was living in crucified the Lord of Glory
So who are the "rulers" Paul is speaking of - some claim that the Romans were the crucifiers of Christ for it was they that placed him on the cross.
But both Peter and Paul place the ultimate blame on the Jews and especially the Jewish rulers.
Act 3:15 (Young's) and the Prince of the life ye did kill, whom God did raise out of the dead, of which we are witnesses;
Act 3:17 (Young's) And now, brethren, I have known that through ignorance ye did it, as also your rulers
The Greek word "archon" is translated as rulers in the above and in 1 Cor 2:8.
So for the Jewish nation the rulers of "this age" were the Temple leaders and Sanhedrin.
When did the age of this rule end?
It ended with war of 66-70 AD - the temple went *poof* along with the rulers of that age.
What this means is we are now in the age of Messiah - the rulers of that age in which Jesus was manifested and killed are long gone:
Heb 9:26 (Young's) since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages, for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested.
Jesus promised to be with the apostles in power until the end of the age - this was not a general broadcast message to Christians from then until now:
Mat 28:16 (Young's) And the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mount where Jesus appointed them,
Mat 28:18 (Young's) And having come near, Jesus spake to them, saying, 'Given to me was all authority in heaven and on earth;
Mat 28:19 (Young's) having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them -- to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit)
Mat 28:28 (Young's) teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with YOU all the days -- till the full end of the age.
The ministry of the Apostles was specifically identified with power and signs:
Acts 1:8 but ye shall receive power at the coming of the Holy Spirit upon you, and ye shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and unto the end of the earth.'
2 Co 12:12 (Young's) The signs, indeed, of the apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
The end of "this" age of the Jewish rulers who killed the Lord Jesus ended by 70 AD and Jesus was with the Apostles "till the full end of the age."
