I don't think I've ever heard phart say any of that...
ooh have I missed something?

I wasn't saying that about PHart, I was responding to Stone's post.
It seems though for some reason PHarts post has seemed to attached itself to posts she is making.

I have known PHart for a while and he knows I have nothing but respect for him.

This is true but doesnt it seem like we all do this until the light bulb comes on in our understanding? And should be the reason we remain patient with those who oppose. I know I labored and was miserable until Truth came. And I was converted, and baptized in Holy Spirit. But, blinded by religion.
And I had already received the Spirit and He communed with me often, and I still didn't see it clearly. And He didn't abandon me. He grew my faith instead. He renewed my mind more and more and continues to do so.

Love manifests itself in other ways than being lovey dovey.

It does not manifest itself in telling people they are going to hell because of doctrinal disagreements (that are fundamental to saving faith) it doesn't character assassination and humiliation and so on.
Forgiveness has to reign in our lives Bill. Otherwise we become bitter, and that root is evil. Jesus gave us a new commandment and that is to love others as He has loved us.

Now, restoration, and deliverance must come and sometimes one has to leave the source of their bitterness in order to be restored.

That is one one thing I "work hard" to avoid. Forgive quickly and clothe oneself in His nature. There is our helmet.

My question it to this is how is enough love measured, when have we done enough good works to ensure we maintain our saved status?

If we are honest the Bible never defines the “amount” of proof, in either category, whether the category be good works or avoiding sin. The believer is called to good works and the believer is called to avoid sin. But since nobody is ever doing as much as they could be, and all believers still sin, then the believer is left with no assurance of anything if one adopts this way of thinking.

As well with the belief that eternal life can be forfeited by lack of proof of works, again drawn to its logical conclusion is that

the truth of “Jesus died for us”, does not apply if you “sin too much” or “do too little”.

And again you yourself have no measure by which you know that you are proving anything to God or anyone else for that matter.

I would say God needs no evidence or proof because it is His work that justifies.

It is God that justifieth. Romans 8

God does not need to prove His own work to Himself :)

As well “Justified” is a judicial term that describes the status of a person whom the judge has declared “not guilty” and the status is not conferred by works. Scripture is very clear on this from front to back.

If you mean none of our works will earn us salvation you are correct.

If you mean none of our works will continue to earn us salvation you are correct again.

Wrong!

Christ will use our works to determine if you go to the left as a goat, or to the right as a sheep:
"34“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ " (Matthew 25:34-36 NASB)

Are you able to understand how that's true, yet that not be a damnable works gospel?

That is one reason we do good works. But for the purpose of this thread, the reason we do good works is because we love God. That's why our works are able to used by Christ as the evidence of our faith and love for God and which will then be used to determine if we go to the left or to the right at the Judgment.

If a person can't prove his faith by being characterized as someone who loves God and loves people (the two greatest commands) then they will be found to be unbelievers (or ex-believers) and they will be sent to the left to be condemned in the fiery hell. Christ warned us, people. Get the faith that saves, and prove you have that salvation by working it out. That is how you will have surety and security in Christ. Mere words of confession do not give assurance of salvation. Work does.

I agree. The issue is always to do with "righteousness" Is it ours by what we do or don't do - as the law is based on? This is called "works-righteousness".

Or is complete reliance on Christ's obedience that brings faith righteousness?

The gospel is all about the "righteousness of God" revealed! For "in it" the righteousness of God is revealed. Rom. 1:16-17

We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone.
Good Morning Grace777

Would correct theology say this: our works of righteousness could never satisfy God's Holy standard, the Law; not before we are saved, (reconciled to God). not after we are saved, (pronounced not guilty), and when we stand at the judgment seat of Christ, (the bema seat), for rewards not punishment. 2Corinthians5:10.

Point: It is God's righteousness at work in our life; from start to finish, period.

16) For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work,
saving everyone who believes; the Jew first and also the Gentile.

17) For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith." Romans1:16,17

never mind for petes sake, I've stopped doing it for my own sake.:D
The amount of times I have to go back and edit a post to delete the unwelcome post that has decided to tag along is too many to count.

Took me awhile too UG! Don't know how I didn't connect Phil Hartman in his avatar to Phart, but I didn't! Because I'm dense!

I kept thinking, does the poor man not see how unfortunate his user name is?? :D

why now Meggido? I've heard people say they have learned from it, and I have too. I always learn from grace 7, and EG, preacher, and Dcon have all contributed Truth that solidifies faith.

Not that they are the only ones, Just are those you oppose most.

And ive learned from you too.

I do not oppose people and have never opposed people...I oppose hypocrisy, contradiction, double mindedness, and outright lies and covering up of personal behavior.....it is perfectly and duly noted what happens in this thread[not the entire site] and it the perception appears to be appallingly one-sided...maybe it is not, but it appears this way....

I am being wise in my posting on this thread....I have placed many on ignore and they have me on ignore and that is proper and in order..I will honor and respect their decision and not reply to them...and hopefully they will not respond to me either....that is proper and in order....The mods decision was proper and in order, because he is the authority....and he could have cleaned house.....

My comment earlier to DCON was just that...great, you summed up the point of your original OP, now let it go and lets move on....

Are you trying to spin up something up out of my post? I am asking you, because it sure appears to be what you are doing...if you are not, fine...and all good...

Are you also trying to imply what my motives are?...your implications are just that, implications that may not be implying anything correct about my motives....if your are not, again, fine and all good...

It's very clear in the scriptures.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. – Romans 10:4
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Rom 6:18

Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Rom 10:4

As the people of God we are slaves to righteousness, it is our heart, soul and Spirit.
If we sin it grieves us deeply and until we resolve it it becomes a burden on our souls.
It is not so much that we have attained perfection or know fully how to walk in it, but
this is our goal and our path.

So to be in Christ is to walk in righteousness, literally.
We are not sinners with a free pass. The tension is always this desire to walk in His
ways and with His truth.

IMO - The area of contention is not really works per se - that is a smoke screen for the real issue - it's the belief that our loving Father throws His beloved children into hell for not doing good works.

This is the outcome of "doing good works to be saved or to keep being saved". This is an anti-Christ belief system.

OK, everyone, let's take a long hard look at this.

Doing good works he says is part of an antichrist belief. Even doing good works to "live by faith"

Let's swing the pendelem the other way..... what's the other extreme? Salvation by saying I believe in Jesus, & nothing else matters.

So, instead of the usual right/wrong issue, might we want to look at which group is closer to their extreme?

If one side IS wrong, that's no guarantee the other IS right.

Neither is it a guarantee the other side isn't an antichrist system either.
