This may be just me, but I went to lunch at a buffet after working 4 hours overtime, and I just felt overly elated. Now, mind you, I've been at this same buffet many times before. However, this is one of those times when I had three courses of food instead of two (salad, and two main dishes), and I had this thought, "[Mostly] everyone in America, even those who are considered poor, have it so well off."

Yes, there will always be those who are suffering (Matthew 25:11), even in a rich country like America. But overall, some of us live like kings (compared to, say, those in the Middle Ages).

I had to share this, because it's just one of those times when my mind is blown. A すごい moment.

PLEASE, DC, not so loud! Complainers never like to be reminded of anything good in life. It interferes with their complaining. :p

I heard a saying that the average garbage disposal here in the USA eats better than 30% of the humans on earth. That wouldn't hold up so well at my house because I keep a beady eye on leftovers in the fridge (I hate throwing good food away) but from what I know of other people it sounds about right.

While I have my long list of complaints of life in America, I can surely say with confidence, there is no other place I would rather live than here in America. Even in NYC, all I have to do is pay $2.75 and I can travel from the upper Bronx to Coney Island. Sometimes I admit we are spoiled. Life isn't perfect but its not as bad as it could be and we can be thankful for that.

Whenever somebody starts complaining about life here, just remind him "The USA must still be a pretty good place to live though... look how many people are trying to sneak in!"

That just ruins a good complaining session.

I often have those moments too, it's nice to see others are also grateful.

Check out the documentary "On The Way to School." It really opened up my eyes to the advantages I have in America. Free education from K-12 with buses then almost anyone can go to college these days.

It helped me take my education seriously. The documentary is about kids from all over the world and the obstacles they face on their way to school. These obstacles are as large as a pack of elephants ready to stampede, to a young boy on a wheelchair needed to be pushed by his brothers who are about the same age as he is. Really really great documentary.

I found the trailer.
