Do you believe that Him abiding in us, and us in Him can be reversed?
While I agree that we tend to look at things as we believe they pertain to us, but the reason they do pertain to us is becuase we are true believers indwelled by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the one true constant, he never changes...men change and they do....Jesus not changing does not mean he is obligated to chase you down and force you back into being a branch. Besides when we stop believing we wither and bear no fruit and are cast away.....I have said this before, but think about it...Did Jesus chase down the young rich ruler?

Many I think do not want to see that...because it does tend to make us wince....it should make us wince...it is a very fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God...

Some accept the word with joy but then the cares of this life choke out the seed. And so they reject trust to listen to the world instead and store money on earth because it makes them feel secure and not scared. They reject believing He will see to their care as He has promised and instead go with what the world says our security lies in.
The parable of the sower is not about salvation as many have been taught... The parable is about the heart conditions of believers...I will also be bold and state it is beautiful picture of continued repentance...

I read in the Bible where the seed is not retained by the soil in some cases. It was in the soil, and even started growing, but was not retained by the soil.
:D i read that too!

there is good soil, and bad soil. probably many ways for soil to be poor! not only that, the soil may be too rocky! and even in good, loose, deep soil, there are things like weeds and other plants that can quickly grow up and choke out a seedling.

& you know what they need water and light too! i read in another place how even with good sowing and watering, it's God that gives the increase. probably this is most important, and all proper horticulture is wise.

I kind of see God grasping our arm and we are grasping the Lord's righteous right arm. Those who let go in my opinion are those who were one of the 3 bad soils that only last for a period of time.

They don't endure and don't persevere because they aren't truly born of the Spirit or they'd have the power to continue on in the faith. They have a dead faith.

Exactly DRose. They leave us. Though I don't believe the Lord gives up on them. I can say I've been in those soils until the day I was converted and the chains of my nature of sin was broken. Sounds a bit like a gospel song, huh? Truth! It's truth!

i kind of see this as "
step 2"

it's hard to imagine a dead man grabbing the arm of someone who's lifting them out of their grave. they have to be reanimated first ((
step 1))

And I don't mean by that that it's not a tremendous struggle of our faith to come to full trust in the matter. It was such a tremendous struggle for me that I can't even convey it to you. I struggled in it for a long time.
Faith is letting go of and surrender of everything and trust is knowing he will catch you...it is not some easy believing thing or his own faith...many have faith very few have trust....I better be careful now, because this is where making him "Lord" and Savior rubber meets the road...

Many like a Savior but few want a Lord...

Luke 7.11-17
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Soon afterwards He went to a city called Nain; and His disciples were going along with Him, accompanied by a large crowd. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her. [SUP]13 [/SUP]When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.” [SUP]14 [/SUP]And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise!” [SUP]15 [/SUP]The dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited His people!” [SUP]17 [/SUP]This report concerning Him went out all over Judea and in all the surrounding district.

A lot of people want Jesus to raise them from the dead, but they do not want him to be Lord enough to reach up and touch their coffin......

wait for it....it will hit you...

Mat 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

In the words of U G, we don't make Jesus Lord. He is.
that is not at all what the Bible teaches us at all...

1 Cor 12.3

[SUP]3 [/SUP]Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

If you cannot say Jesus is Lord...you got a pretty bad problem on you hands...

If you understand this parable you will understand all of them...Jesus was much like John the Baptist and preached one thing...REPENT...

? He preached the Kingdom is near. Then He sent the power to live - grace- the divine influence in the heart with its reflection in our life, including gratitude. And the gifts to witness His power.

That is what U G said and I've repeated. Jesus is Lord. We can't make Him Lord. He is.
