Hi rosemary

that is not a prise sis, salvation is a gift, to a reward that can be earned,

a runner runs a race to get the gold medal, but only one gets that medal,

that medal is not salvation, you can not run fast enough, far enough or hard enough to earn your right to be in Gods presence, that is why Christ came in the first place,

does this his make Sense? I am not trying to tear you down or judge you, just showing what I see
Hi EG...I know my salvation is not earned by works, it`s a free gift from God...From what i understand, we will all be given different rewards for how we walked to His calling...And Paul did say we must run our race, we must be diligent and keep our eyes on Christ...xox...

It's just that some men really do not believe that to be cut off means cut off from unspecified prizes but to be cut off as Israel was cut off, for unbelief. So when they read to be careful their hearts do not become evil and unbelieving, they don't think it's so they will get some unspecified rewards because they think to become evil and unbelieving is a serious matter.

But this makes them enter struggles to fully believe, through which God works to purify them of hypocrisies. But they don't fear, because they see God is bringing them TO these struggles and they see what great good later comes to their soul by them.

I always use one of my greatest struggles to fully believe and trust, which has been not storing treasure on earth. It must be harder, it seems to me, for a man who has treasure already stored when he comes to God. It's tricky, because you SAY you believe He will care for you but then you catch yourself worrying when you're down to your last twenty dollars and you need to go to the dentist. So you struggle to fully trust what He has said and to not worry as unbelievers do.

But you can't treat it as law either, and worry if you do come into some windfall, that you have nine hundred dollars in the bank and oh no, this is storing treasure on earth. Because it isn't outward law and isn't to be treated as such. It's about what your sneaky heart does. Does it feel relief and security because now it has a stockpile? Does it start to worry what will happen when it gets back down to twenty dollars? Or does it remain calm in peace that He knows what you need and so stops it's worry?

Our hearts are sneaky and we can be convinced that we are idolizing nothing but then someone dents our car door and we become upset it has been marred or even become furious. Or great grandmas plate is broken by a child and we get angry and make them cry. And then we see that we were thinking we idolized nothing but by our reaction, our heart was treasuring the thing. Cars and plates are useful things. They are not things to get upset over. A car will still perform its usefulpurpose with a ding in the door. And there are many plates in the world to use. These things are good for our use, not to become upset over.

Talking about trusting God for salvation is different than talking about trusting God for some of our struggles, would you not agree?

If we trusted god fully in all things, we would never sin, but we don't that's why we struggle and must grow, babies trust less than mature adults, but even mature adults do not trust in all areas,

The problem we are having is some are tying to mix sanctification/Christian growth, with justification Christian salvation,

thats why. Keep asking loveme why shekels posting sanctification passages in a justification fixation thread, they are two different topics.

Justficarion is eternal, it can never t be earned, it is forever, it is a gift, it is freely given it not a reward, and I carri s with it now reward, what it does is assure whoever justified is that they are in Christ and when it comes to judgment day they are savd, because God sees his sons blood, not our sins.

Well...I think you are misunderstanding PHart. To me, he is exhorting to keep in the faith, to keep believing more and more.
only God can bring that to fruition, we can not grow our faith, only watch God grow it.

And you think that is telling people to work for their place in our Lord and with our Lord.
But to me, he is just saying, keep the faith, grow more and more in trust and to not bury the talent but grow and increase it.
that is work sis, if he was telling people trust God and God will grow your faith like he promised. And he actually trusted God to do that, I could agree with him, but I can. It, because he is saying inaffect, god is. It trustworthy enough to grow our faith, we must grow it our keep it fro falling ourselves,

thats trust inself, not trust in God
.

And yes, I realize that it is HE that does the growing even while I am in a struggle of fully trusting in an area because it is He that brought me to that struggle against the world, my flesh and the devil.

I asked him, but since you believe your faith came to you as a gift, how do you propose that we are able to keep and grow it when the whole world, our own flesh and the devil want to take it from us? And I think he answered well. He said, #1 I don't WANT to go back to the world. I want to be with Him. And #2, He has given me a measure of faith to allow me to see that He is, and then He graciously grows it. I think he answered well.
Is the world more powerful than God? if we are worried about the world taking our faith, who are we trusting in? Ourself to withstand the world, or to God, who has overcome the world?

me, I trust God, that's WHY I have faith in him, he showed me his way, and he has never let me down, I have let myself down to many times to count since I have been saved, even became a prodigal son because I thought I could do it on my own, just to utterly fail, but god has never let me down, not once,

has he let you down ever?

God grows my faith by being trustworthy. I tried to explain it in another post, I will see if you read it and responded yet
.

I love that scripture!

The work of those that think they can achieve eternal life by their own self-efforts and righteousness will be "rewarded" by that which they have done. ( we all know where that will lead to...)

Those that have received Christ will inherit His blessings because He alone is our inheritance.

The "works" that believers 'have done" is this below: From this belief comes the His life manifesting in and through us to others.

John 6:28-29 (NASB)
[SUP]28 [/SUP] Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?"

[SUP]29 [/SUP] Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."

Hi Grace...I was just sitting here myself after reading this and made up a story in my head ...I was thinking, What is someone had found out about Christ being our Savior, gave their life to Jesus, went home with no understanding of the gospels and never had a chance to learn from Scripture because he died that night, and then this comes to mind, Jesus says to" just believe"...That`s what my imaginary person done, he just believed, he had a tiny mustard seed of faith...This is a story in my head, but surely it must be true in places all over, I do know no one likes things from the top of peoples head, but do you understand my tale:confused:...xox...
