What do you receive from this:

Matthew 5

17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Where does the Messiah's Testimony place in your belief system?
The words of JESUS must be viewed from the following perspective....He was born, lived and died under the law which ratified the NEW Covenant. Saul (PAUL) as a Pharisee said that outwardly you could not convict him concerning his adherence unto the LAW and the point that Jesus makes to those listening...YOU MUST surpass their righteousness....ONLY one way to do that...HAVE the righteousness of Christ imputed by faith....as far as the law goes.....the condemnation of the LAW currently and presently abides over the heads of ALL who have not trusted into the saving faith of JESUS.....ALL LOST will be judged by the OPENED BOOKS<---the 5 books of the LAW with a search conducted for their name in the 6th book...the book of LIFE...if they are not found in the book of life they will be condemned by the LAW and cast from the presence of GOD.....

OBVIOULSY the above is based upon more than the set of verse you gave.

well, since the word imitate was found to be offensive, let's have a better look at what scripture actually states. I don't believe anyone was saying imitate Jesus as in pretend in some way. sadly, something is lost when folks disregard the truth of what is said simply because they would not have said it quite the same way

moving along

Jesus asks us to 'follow' Him. which of course does not mean being born of a virgin as someone suggested.

so if Jesus says to 'follow Him' then He obviously desires that we should...follow Him

as I already said, we follow Jesus with the aid of the One sent by God to enable us to follow...the Holy Spirit

we cannot follow or imitate ...which can mean reproduce, follow, do the same...any similar meanings with no need to understand it as fake...considering many translations use the word imitate in place of follow...WITHOUT the Holy Spirit

I don't know why that leaves room for contention or sneering. I really don't

just a heads up. if I don't answer, it's because I have chosen not to answer. which means I did not care for the communication we originally had and have decided I don't need the drama

don't take it personally. it's just better for everyone. in this thread above all others it would seem

Must be viewed? I disagree with you greatly.

The Messiah is talking to you as a believer of Him.

It looks like you have a rigid belief system between you and His Testimony.

We are to read the Gospel and believe Him rather than view them from a perspective that you state.. but as one seeking forgiveness and reconciliation?

Peace and Blessings to you all.

I think you are a bit mixed up between, the difference between "become" as Jesus and "do right for Jesus" noone can become as Jesus was but through him we can do many things that are right in God's eyes, just as Jesus did,to say we are not to follow Jesus makes no sense,we can never do all he did but we still through him can "follow" the statutes he left for us,keep them and "follow" Jesus when he returns to earth after doing what we can for him and judgement day arrives, for you seem to misunderstand despite definition what follow means,it means to serve, obey, and strive to do right by as well as strive to be like despite not being equal to a leader, definitions are not just found in dictionaries they can also be found through experience or observing past circumstances.

Disagree all you want and you would be wrong....Jesus said he had many thing that needed to be taught, but the disciples were not yet ready.....hence the words of PAUL.....and it is obvious that many things he said had particular application to HIS TIME FRAME and HIS DAY.....

Another know all not open to learning and instruction.....have a ball! CONTEXT PAL.....your should try it!

For example.

And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

now you see how your friend abigal likes your post? she likes it cause you are disagreeing with me

that is the actual game being played in this thread

you have very badly mangled what I actually said

do you have scripture that refutes my post? that would be what you need to supply, otherwise it's just more of my friends don't like her so I won't either

I based my post on scripture and referenced one verse in particular

kapeesh?

apparently dictionairies do need to be used since we are speaking in English. unless you are a student of Greek...original Greek?

Just in the short time you have been on this thread you have complained, complained, complained. To much cynicism, to much criticism, and to much pride. It is time to say good bye have a nice life and put you on ignore.

You should pay heed to your own advice and, "just move on"

do you really want to be truthful?

then you should know I have responded on this thread for some weeks now

say thank you

please be more respectful, for me this is never a game because we are discussing "serious" scripture sure a fare few people in this thread have gotten upset or snippy,I am not that way I seek only to do God's will if I want to be silly or childish like I can go to other forums and threads, but as I have said many times,I am "absolutely serious" when discussing scripture even when others lash out at me I still try to maintain a somewhat "mature" discussion when I'm "ready" to speak on a subject, sure I'm a bit sarcastic but I don't mock willingly.

It is amazing how the workers for and salvation losers cannot grasp context and the time frame that the words of JESUS were given in....He was born, lived and died under the LAW which ratified the NEW Covenant....to disregard this fact and make everything he said applicable to the generations after the law has been nailed to the cross is not only ridiculous but lacks understanding of the transitional period between the ages of LAW and GRACE.......!

Explain what you are disagreeing with greatly? Are you sure you are not misunderstanding what dc said?

In a nut shell, what dc said the way I understand it, is JESUS lived the LAW perfectly, the first and last human being to do so. By believing and trusting in HIM totally, we inherit that perfect record of keeping the LAW, fulfilled by JESUS CHRIST. THUS GOD sees us as clothed in HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Perhaps you are using a different definition for Believe, than we do. Many false teachers will tell you that the Biblical Definition for BELIEVE "is to acknowledge who HE is", THAT WOULD MAKE ALL 2000 Demons in the demoniacs at GADARA, saved Believers. So BELIEVE has to mean way more than just acknowledging who HE IS. The answer is we must use the Jewish definition of the word BELIEVE.

Jews apply a much deeper meaning to the word BELIEVE than English speaking people of today mean by the same term.

EXAMPLE:

If two Jews walked up to a newly frozen over lake in early Winter, and JEW #1 asked JEW #2:

"Do you believe the ice is thick enough to walk on?"

And JEW #2 replied: "Yes, I believe it is thick enough to walk on."

And then JEW #2 walked over to the edge of the ice and reached out with one foot, gently pressing down on the ice to test it.

Jew #1 would SCREAM: "LIAR, if you truly BELIEVED, you would have boldly walked out on the ice and put your WHOLE WEIGHT ON IT."

To say you Believe in JESUS, without TOTALLY TRUSTING HIM for every bit of your SALVATION, IS NOT WHAT GOD MEANS BY BELIEVE:

Acts 16:31 (ESV)
[SUP]31 [/SUP] And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

BELIEVE, in the Jewish mindset carries with it, TOTAL TRUST IN WHAT YOU CLAIM TO BELIEVE.

then discuss it

I didn't see any scripture in your post to me though, so you can't blame me for wondering why you would go out of your way to disagree, obviously did not understand what I posted and then come back again and say you are serious

so maybe take your own advice, be respectful of someone who does use scripture, and use some yourself

see how that goes?
