It takes faith to get saved (Ephesians 2:8) and from beginning "have been saved through faith" to end "receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is through faith and is not by works. Obedience after one is saved is not forced or legalistic for believers. Those who are born of God practice righteousness and not sin and love their brother (1 John 3:9-10). What I'm hearing from you is that salvation is "obtained by works" and "maintained based on the merits of our performance," which I strongly disagree with.So what I basically got was that it does take some obedience, in your opinion, to get saved, but that obedience after being saved is optional, and that no matter how disobedient you are you cannot lose your salvation once you've had it? Well I strongly disagree, but respectfully so.
You need to separate the sections of the post you are responding to with bracket quote bracket and close the section with bracket backslash quote bracket. Notice the format in the original section of the post.I cannot chunk things up like you can, so I can't reply to most of what you said. Just saying that so far, I had to keep scrolling back to find where I am typing, it's very difficult for me to go long on this format. Besides this, I would have to tackle one point at a time with you, cause it gets way too long. I do appreciate the time you put in to answer me.

If you want to continue this, I'm going to have to do it in pm where I can cover one point at a time, cause it gets too long this way. So if you want to continue this conversation, just pm me.
Hi Hizikyah,
I believe it all plays a part somehow; grace, faith and God's divine power works within our heart. It (obedience) doesn't save us, but it's the goal of our salvation.
Romans 1:1-6
Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
2 Peter 1:2-3 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
We see here that it's God's divine power that has granted to us everything that pertains to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
I'm in study right now in 2 Peter and we discussed what the true knowledge of God is. The word in the greek means a knowledge based on experience by obedience. In obedience the knowledge we have becomes true knowledge.
So I think it's all intertwined and hard to separate all the different aspects to the Gospel. It's by grace through faith with the goal in mind to live in obedience to the Grace Giver Who makes it all happen. It's not based on works of the Law, but on the grace of God by faith, having as it's goal the obedience of the faith.
It's an outward sign of an inward working of God within our hearts. And the greatest outward sign of faith is love for God and love for our neighbor. And we all know that love is an action word. So love itself is obedience.

Well to be saved one must ask to be saved by God and accept Jesus as saviour, after that obedience is more active in one's life not as if to say that one doesn't have their own will but the individual shall desire to do right for God and obey many of things God has written as best as one can,so yes obedience is apart of salvation "After" being saved as far as our grace plan now,but it doesn't save us.
Amen good works and obedience do not earn salvation. They are however evidence that Jesus has saved. by their fruit you shall know them.
Salvation is seen when those who lived in the broad way of destruction now stay to the narrow way. When sinners weak as they are no longer walk in sin.
When those who were slaves of the Devil are free from the Devil.
When the disobedient are seen to obey fully. Then you know they have trusted in Jesus. That their salvation is not of men but of God.
It seems that some think that forgiveness is all salvation is.
Actually forgiveness by itself is only part of what makes up salvation.
transformation is the part that comes not as an addition but as an essential part of salvation.
Thus to continue to live in sin thinking you are saved because Jesus died is error.
transformation just like forgiveness is gained by faith in the promises of God in Christ Jesus.
This is a post salvation experience. Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.
In that case we will 'tear out Heb 5v9 :And being made perfect he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.
People seem to forget that 'all things work together for the perfecting of the man of God.
Looks like a lot of people are simply talking past each other instead of discerning what the Bible actually says about obedience before and after salvation. So before responding to your question, Christians need to understand that before salvation God expects the obedience of faith from the sinner. Which is obedience to Gospel. Obedience to the COMMANDMENT to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and obedience to the COMMANDMENT to repent and be converted.Has ANYONE asked "what role salvation plays in obedience?"
It takes faith to get saved (Ephesians 2:8) and from beginning "have been saved through faith" to end "receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is through faith and is not by works. I agree. If obedience didn't have a place, then what do we do with this?Faith is "given" to us through the preaching of the Gospel and the convincing of the Holy Spirit. Paul says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (primarily the Gospel) (Rom 10:17). Paul goes on to say that I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Rom 1:16).
So once the Gospel has been heard and the sinner has been convinced and convicted, that sinner must OBEY the commandment to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved. Thus we read in Mark 16:15,16: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
So believing the Gospel is not an option, but a command. And commands must be obeyed. This is seen in Acts 2:37,38.
THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS AND CONVINCES
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
THE APOSTLE COMMANDS REPENTANCE
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 3:23 - Justification is not what we do, and not what I am, and not what I worked for. It is what Jesus did and my faith in it that gives me the standing with God that I need to carry on my Christian experience. Sometime I do it well, and sometimes I do it not so well, but His justifying Grace will not fail unless my faith fails. It is just if I have never sinned and just if I have always obeyed (Romans 8:1; Romans 8:2).
As most here know I am all about grace as far as salvation goes. That said I find that in my life here and now the more obedient I can be the more blessings I receive. When I say blessings I am not speaking only about material things though they do seem to increase in direct relation to my obedience. What I am really talking about is the frequency that I am able to hear God increases the more I obey when I do hear from Him. I am laughing as I type this because when I first read the question I thought "thats easy"...LOl. Anyway, I guess I am trying to say that while I know my salvation is secure because of what Jesus did and for no other reason, obedience on my part brings more blessings in this life.
