The days mentioned in Genesis is symbolic and there was evening and morning, a dusk and dawn continueous light.

AMEN! There are just some things that are still beyond man’s comprehension for good reason. Why? So we have no alternative but to admit Who is really in control of all things. According to scripture, "day" is a certain time of happening or sequence.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.(2 Peter 3:8 )

The verbiage on creation in Genesis is of the universe, of galaxies, of planets, wrapped up in a short basic fundamentals that rings true on many advance levels.

At one point yes, but I don't believe in that stuff, these names are just names they mean nothing in my heart, that's what counts what is in your heart, if you don't idol that junk don't sweat it, be happy and lol.
200 years ago our government was much more open to the influence of Biblical precepts. Even then I doubt that you could have persuaded anyone to adopt a lunar/solar calendar. In our time our government is increasingly hostile to Biblical precepts.

What alternative method are you currently using in regards to a calendar and days of the week besides the present system that's been in place for hundreds of years?
In our time, even the Jewish calendar, which has been in continuous use since the Exodus, is superimposed on the Gregorian calendar. Not only that; but with rare exceptions Jewish calendars use the post-exilic names of several months; so that the months are now named for Babylonian idols. Abib is called Nissan and Ethanim is called Tishri, among others.

Observation of the "new moons" even though we don't hear the sounding of the two silver trumpets any more. At least that's all I can do. But I have an advantage. I'm retired. If I was a farmer, being able to sustain myself in relation to the agrarian culture of the Bible, I would be doing the same thing I suppose. It's our Creator's times and seasons. We can’t do a thing to change the cycles of the signs given for His purpose for us. I like supernatural spiritual gifts, but I don't speak languages that I cannot understand. LOL
