Can what we do cause us to lose salvation? Let's see what the Word says...
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire
Titus 3:5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
Colossians 2:13 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
There are many other verses as well but the important thing to realize is what actually happens when we are saved. All of us inherited a dead spirit from adam, when we are saved God quickens (or makes alive) that spirit and combines it with the spirit of Jesus (hidden in Christ). That can never, ever be undone. Many churches especially the RCC and the church of Christ want people to believe that they can in fact lose salvation so they (these churches) can keep control over the people who attend them.
We can never out sin God's grace and even if someone who was truly saved "turned their back" on God they would still know He exists and who He is. It is God who both calls us and saves us for HIS pleasure not our own.
Once the Son makes you free you are free indeed and no power anywhere can change that.
John 10:27-29 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
When a sheep wanders off does the shepherd simply leave it to go on its own?? Of course not, in fact if he hass 100 sheep and one wanders off he will leave the 99 to search for the lost one.
Matthew 18:12-14 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
Trust God when He says we are sealed unto redemption and pray that those who want to assume they have the power over salvation come to see that such power is God's and God's alone.
