Your reply ''Some may have started out right'' infers that those who didnt went wrong. By this I assume that you believe that most of the millions of Jews and christians have disobeyed God. In 70Ad the temple was destroyed. As it was the centre of Jewish worship that all the festivals were associated with then surely it follows that God no longer wanted anyone to observe Festivals as prescribed in the Torah otherwise the Temple would still be standing today. The Temple Festivals and sacrifices were shadows and patterns of Christs work.

A careful reading of Ezekiel reveals that the Temple described in such detail was promised on condition of obedience to Gods laws. That didn't happen so they ended up with a building that was so inferior to Solomans the older generation wept at the sight of it.
Can we not observe the feasts spiritually? Are we not the temple of the New Covenant? Why is it that the carnal mind always sees the law only in a physical manner? Is not the law "spiritual" according to Paul?

OK, I can see that we should be seeing the Feast of Tabernacles with the spiritual eye, for that matter, literally every spiritual detail defined in every Biblical feast. So I'm going to share the spiritual contents of what I see in it, first with the foliage that builds the booth, or dwelling, and Lord willin' share the spiritual contents of the daily offerings later. The carnal mind will not be able to comprehend these things according to the writing of Paul to the Romans.

"For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (Romans 8:6-7)

Do you feel hungry or thirsty? We have very much a feast, we lack nothing.
Why did Paul continue to Keep Gods Sabbaths after Christ died?

Paul continued to Keep Gods Sabbath day[saturday]
Paul also continued to Keep Gods Sabbaths feasts.

Acts 18:21 (KJV)
But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh
in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

they would have not recieved the Holy Spirit, on the very day of Pentacost,
if they where not all together in one accord on that exact day.

The new testament commands we observe the passover service.

22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it,
and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.

24And he said unto them, This is my blood of [the new testament],
which is shed for many.

25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine,
until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

-Jesus changed [the simbles] , not the passover holy day occurance.
we use wine now instead, we do not have to physicaly kill an animal.

1 Corinthians 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.
For even [Christ] our passover is [sacrificed] for us:

-passover was once a year, because of this act of Christs

1 Corinthians 5:8
Therefore let us [keep the feast], first high holy day of unleavened bread

-bible tells use to keep [a feast], then he goes on to say how to keep it,

but he said to keep [a] feast day. this is the first day of unleavened bread.
another name is [the night to be most remembered] in the o.t.

Not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness;
but with the unleavened bread of [sincerity and truth].

-
O.T. says a memorial- a feast by an ordinance for ever,
commanded before they even left Egypt, before even
one word of the old covenent on the mt. was made,.

Jeremiah: 31. 31. "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will make
a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
34No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,'
because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the Lord.
"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

This old covenant is what led the Israelites out of Egypt.

Exodus: 12. 10. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it.
11. This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet
and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord's Passover. 12. "On that same night
I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will
bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. 13. The blood will be a sign for you on
the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague
will touch you when I strike Egypt.

14. "This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it
as a festival to the Lord—a lasting ordinance.

On the 14th day of the first month, acoording to the sacred calendar, was the night God gave
the Israelites instructions on how to make this last plague pass over God's people. They had
to eat the flesh of the lamb and put the blood around the door to be protected.

the old covenant God made was the Passover,to be kept as an lasting ordinance.
the new covenant that will make God never remember our sins anymore?

Matthew: 26. 26. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." 27. Then he
took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.

28. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

The reality of the flesh and blood is actually bread and wine. The reality of the lamb that was
sacrificed on the night of the Passover is actually Christ, who is known as the Lamb also.

So let's see what they were eating that night. Matthew: 26:17-19 They ate the Passover.
the New covenant, that God mentioned to Jeremiah in the old testament.

Luke: 22. 19. And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
"This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." 20. In the same way,
after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which is poured out for you.

So many Christians say, we don't have to do the Passover,
so let's see if the apostles kept Passover after Jesus ascended to heaven.

1 Corinthians: 11:23-27
the night of the Passover, was the night the Lord was betrayed.

People do not want to put sin out of there lives and believe a lie.
-deciples keep the [feast of unleavened bread] after Christs death

Acts 12:3 (KJV)
And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also.
(Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Acts 20:6 (KJV)
And we sailed away from Philippi after (the days of unleavened bread),
and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

To start, so that all who are interesting in a more definitive explanation of salvation, and dwelling in Christ, I begin with this. Foliage of the Feast of Tabernacles actually represents the New Covenant through Jesus Christ by the Hebrew writing therein. I feel that I have only obtained a smidgen of a much bigger picture, but I feel led to share what I've obtained so far. That's what members of the New Testament church should do, right?

The whole emphasis of the Feast of Tabernacles is the spiritual revelation and enlightenment, Almighty God revealing more of Himself, and more of our true nature as we observe this profoundly important Holy celebration.

The foliage is listed in two separate passages. One in Leviticus, and the other in Nehemiah, and they are not translated exactly the same.

Leviticus 23:39-42 (KJV)
39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:

Nehemiah 8:13-16a (KJV)
13 And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14 And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15 And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
16 So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths…”

I always feel that around this time of year, something does change spiritually.
Its like a fresh wind blowing.

Having said that we are all partakers of His banqueting table.

Song of Songs 2:4 NKJV
[4] He brought me to the banqueting house, And his banner over me was love.

Luke 15:22-24 NKJV
[22] "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it
on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. [23] And bring
the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; [24] for this my
son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began
to be merry.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26 NKJV
[24] and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My
body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." [25] In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant
in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." [26] For
as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till
He comes.

Revelation 19:9 NKJV
[9] Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage
supper of the Lamb!'" And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."

FYI, In essence, this feast includes all other convocations and holy days, from the beginning of the year.

1. Boughs
Leviticus 23:40 “And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs (פְּרִי) of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook;and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God.”

Used only in the scripture in Leviticus, the word boughs (פְּרִי) is comparable to the word “fruitful,” (פָּרָה) meaning “to bear (bring forth) fruit,” figuratively to grow… the reward of increase. So the “boughs” (פְּרִי) are what causes citrus fruit to grow in relation to a fruitful “reward”.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit (פְּרִי) tree yielding fruit (פְּרִי) after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.” (Genesis 1:11 KJV)

And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits (פְּרִי) of the land, which thou, O Lord, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God:”
(Deuteronomy 26:10 KJV)

The “wisdom” of God Almighty says, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit (פְּרִי) is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.” (Proverbs 8:17-19 KJV)

The first letter of boughs represents the mouth of The Holy Spirit, informing us that He can be trusted. Almighty God "is a Spirit."
The second letter represents the understanding of our own insufficiency, knowing we must trust the One who is sufficient in all respects.
The third letter represents a closed hand at rest because God has provided and prepared everything needed.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
(Hebrews 11:1 KJV)

It is amazing that this part of the booth (tabernacle) is the very essence of “first fruits.” “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits (פְּרִי) of them that slept.” (1 Corinthians 15:20 KJV)

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits (פְּרִי) of his creatures.” (James 1:18 KJV)

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 KJV)

Side note…
The first two letters of boughs, minus the letter yod (י ), spell bullock (פְּרpar). The bullock is of substantial importance to the “Feast of Tabernacles” incorporated within the progressive daily offerings of this seven day feast.

Let me know if this is a benefit.

ZEC. 14:16.-18-19.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem
shall even go up from year to year to worship The King, The LORD of Hosts,
and to keep The Feast of Tabernacles.

And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague,
wherewith The LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep The Feast of Tabernacles.

This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up
to keep The Feast of Tabernacles.

JOHN 12:26. says,
If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be:
if any man serve Me, him will Father honour.

JOHN 7:10.,
But when His brethren were gone up, then went He also up unto the feast,
not openly, but as it were in secret.

if we do like He did, we will go up to The Feast, like He did...The Holy Spirit
will teach us how to walk as He walked and how to be His faithful disciples
in this fallen-world...

The spiral pagan swine is what I try to stay away from. Physically, pig make me feel bad anyway. The cud on a clean animal represents better digestion of food. In relation, spiritual food should be completely digested, so its nourishment is more complete.

2. Branches
Leviticus 23:40 “And ye shall take you on the first day the of goodly trees, branches (כַּף) of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God.”

In Leviticus 23:40 (KJV), the branches (כַּף) ofpalm is actually what is called “palm frond,” which is the “leaf-likepart of a palm tree. There is a slight difference in Nehemiah 8:15 which reads palm branches spelled וַעֲלֵי תְמָרִים.

The Branch in the scripture of Leviticus, is with infinitive definition comparable with the open palm of the hand on the end of an outstretch arm.

The first letter (כַּ) of this branch is a picture of an open palm that holds the price of redemption. On the other hand, (pun intended), the open palm also signifies the reception of this redemption.
The second letter (ף) of this branch is a picture of the mouth that speaks the Word of redemption boldly, a picture of dual actions, the Right Hand of God giving His final Word.

And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:” (Zechariah 6:12)

With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.” “Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.” (Psalm 89:13 and 136:12 KJV)

Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” (1 Corinthians 7:23 KJV)

In addition to the word (kaphכַּף) “branches,” we also have the word (kêphכֵּף), “rock.”

כֵּףkêph, kafe; a hollow rock:—rock. (used in Job 30:6)

Simon's name was changed to Cephas by Yeshua. meaningRock,” his name being of Chaldee origin.
thou art Peter, and upon “this rock” I will build my church.” (Matthew 16:18)

With this in mind, there is a clear relationship between Peter’s name change, “rock,” and the the principles on which the true “church” has been built.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5)

3. Branches
Nehemiah 8:15bfetch olive branches (עָלֶה), and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.”

All of the “branches” (וַעֲלֵי) in Nehemiah 8:15 spell a phrase, not the single word, (עָלֶה) such as it is in the Strong’s Concordance seen above, so, the Nehemiah, branches need to be address only once.

The first letter in “branches” is a picture of a tent peg symbolizing stability of the dwelling place.
The last letter in “branches” is a picture of a closed hand symbolizing work and worship.
The two middle letters (עַל) spellEl” the word for “Most High God,” “El shaddai.”
It could also mean, “Respond to the guidance of the Shepherd’s staff.”

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.”
(Pslam 23:3 KJV)

Receiving the spiritual eye (ע) that sees the “mystery of the gospel” which was once hidden.
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:” (Ephesians 3:9)

The shepherd’s staff,(ל) that teaches, directs, and corrects.
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 KJV)

So by this, we could conclude that branch (וַעֲלֵי) is saying, ‘In addition, the Most High defines His ‘BRANCH” that we must receive. This one word for “branches” is threefold.

1. The descriptive noun of the natural,
2. What to do with it, and
3. The spiritual reason for it.

IMO Circumcision was a sign of being under God's covenant with Abraham. But men under that covenant did not walk around with their circumcision showing. Besides this the women had no sign of the covenant.

Ge 9:3-4
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat
KJV

1 Ti 4:4
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
KJV

Between these we find Leviticus chapter 11. separating the clean from the unclean.

I believe that the purpose of the Law of Moses was to persuade people, especially Israel, that they could not be right with God by their own efforts.

I believe that the purpose of Lev chapter 11 was to give the nation of Israel an outward sign of the Mosaic covenant.

I believe that the outward sign of the new covenant (Jer 31:31-34) is:

Jn 13:35
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
KJV

I believe that the anger and ugliness that we see on the forum helps us distinguish who among us takes God's word to heart.

If we relate to one another in obedience to the precepts that Jesus taught; that IMO is of far more importance than doctrinal correctness.

That is NOT intended to suggest that sound doctrine is unimportant.

It does mean that unsound doctrine is NOT an excuse for treating others unkindly.

4. Goodly
Leviticus 23:40 “And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly (הָדָר) trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook;and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God.”

Nehemiah 8:15b “fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle (הֲדַס) branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.”

Both goodly and myrtle are written with three Hebrew letters, the first two being the same in both, but the last letter in these two words are different.
First and second letters (הֲדַ) definean opening, or doorway that YHWH enables us to see the way to enter into the place where He desires us to dwell.
The last letter in the word goodly is a picture of a human head, representing the first or beginning of understanding.

Goodly (הָדָר) is the same word as “Majesty,” ”Beauty,” “Glory,” and “Honour,” none of which we can claim within ourselves.

His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty (הָדָר) hast thou laid upon him.”
(Psalm 21:5 KJV)

Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.” (הָדָר)
(Job 40:10 KJV)

The last letter (ס) in the word myrtle (הֲדַס)is a picture of a thorn that grabs, either to protect by separating, or to cause hatred because it’s unpleasant to deal with.

““Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. “And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. (2 Corinthians 6:17 NASB)

According to the following two verses, “myrtle” is a nomenclature representing something beneficial, for both delight, and for us to keep our proper place by the admission (confession) of our weaknesses.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle (הֲדַס) tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”
(Isaiah 55:13 KJV)

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a “thorn” in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.”
(2 Corinthians 12:7 KJV)

So in summary, הָדָרgoodly” is that “door” that leads us to “redemption” now revealed.
Myrtle” הֲדַס, is the redemption that has been revealed, now opens the “door” that leads us to “rest.”

He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.(Psalm 111:9 KJV)

As we continue through the foliage, keeping in mind that Leviticus was written before Nehemiah, their chronology is that at first, redemption is revealed in Leviticus, and second, the capability to enter in follows in Nehemiah. This sequence of events, in their proper order, is represented by first seeing, then believing what is seen, and because of faith given by seeing and believing, then acting on it, defined Biblically as “works.”

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.(James 2:26 KJV)

Ceremonial laws govern ceremonies. Jews in respect to their outward flesh where used in ceremonial laws up until the time of reformation.

Moral law governs the morals of the whole world. No time frame.

Ceremonies as shadows are required to preach the gospel in respect to the suffering of Christ not seen beforehand and the glory that followed .The time of reformation..

I would offer in respect to the restored as a result of the reformation the government is restored to a period before the kings must likely to the period of judges . When God ruled as King of kings, not seen.

This is before the apostate Jews and become jealous of the surrounding nation having an outward expression of their misguided faith . God gave them over temporally do do what they should not....until the time of reformation.

The ceremonial Sabbath a shadow of the eternal rest we do already have a day set aside when a person does not have to do the servile work needed to eat as to its true fast, the kind the disciples knew not of and therefore could not cast out the lying spirits. Is still available to those who go out and bring the gospel .The true fast

The ceremonial baptism required when a new priest was introduced in the priesthood still applies and is why Christ from the tribe of Judah himself participated in the water baptism officiated by one from the tribe of Levi John before he started his priestly ministry, and he himself did baptize after.

One new ceremonial law was added. It as a shadow speaks of its fulfillment in the new heavens and earth to represent the wedding supper to consummate our new bodies as the bride of Christ.

That one ceremonial law called the Lord ’s Supper or the breaking of bread requires two elements as one tradition. The bread and blood of grapes, and the hair covering for the woman and the uncovered for the man as one ordinance. The later has all but disappeared except in a few denominations.

Many have made it into a temporal fashion design as out dated destroying both..

I would suggest we cannot have one without the other; it in part loses its intended usage to represent Christ our head as a represented glory in respect to his unseen glory. When gathering together the only glory is in respect to the unseen, not the shadow as a work to represent that not seen.

The proper hermeneutics below must be applied to all parables as ceremonial laws . Parables hide the spiritual meaning from those who worship shadows. The things seen

2Co 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Daniel 9:27, "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. . ."

Colossians 2:14, "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross"

Colossians 2:16, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days". . . [the seven yearly sabbaths]

Ephesians 2:15, "He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups."

The Sabbath is one of The Ten Commandments. As such it portrays the perfect character of God and righteousness and The Ten commandments serve as a ruler for right living which will be used in the judgment to decide who is worthy of eternal life.
(Matthew 19:17-19; James 2:8-12; Revelation 22:14)

It might be a danger, if one urges the keeping of the feasts, to neglect The Gospel Commission of Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

Revelation 22:20, "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

Though knowing these festivals has value for sure,

example the feast of dedication though no longer called that, even though it's mentioned in scripture is still in use today.

referred to as hunakkah for the Jewish, Christmas for the Christian
The Gospel does endorse cohesiveness between Jews and Gentiles.

Good post IMO.
The Hebrew alphabet has twenty two letters, the last being the sign of the cross. As we will see in this particular feast, when it's all done, every letter except one is addressed in seven days. It's "tav" the sign of the cross. On the eighth day, we finally see the finishing touches of the feast. Lo and behold, it's the "sign of the cross." This doesn't contradict what most churches teach, so why on earth would we believe it's right to reject it?.
