Why doesn't the Advanced Search function work when searching for a keyword in a title when you check "Forums" as the Search Type. I'd expect it to return results for the threads in all forums with that keyword in the title. And checking "Posts" as the Search Type doesn't seem to work either.

Example: If I search for the keyword "Salvation" in Search Titles Only (drop down menu) and I click the Search Type "Forums", the result is nil. No hits are returned.

But if I search for the keyword "Salvation" in Search Titles Only and I click the Search Type "All Types", I get 25 hits--that is, 25 threads having the word Salvation in the title.

And if I search for the keyword "Salvation" in Search Titles Only and I click the Search Type "Posts", I get 22 hits. All 22 hits have the word "Salvation" in the title. Huh? I'd bet dollars to donuts that there are threads with the word "Salvation" in the posts but not the thread title. Weird.

What gives?

Don't type in "forums". Just type the word "salvation" and it should show you several threads with that word in the title.. works for me when I do it. :)

I didn't type the word forums. (I'm only searching for the word "Salvation" in the examples I provided.) I checked the box "Forums" under Search Type (towards the top of the page in Advanced Search). In the second part of my example I clicked the box "All Types". In the third part of the example I clicked "Posts". :)

It might be your browser I have noticed this place sometimes acts weird with certain browsers

The answer is really obvious. The search function is not good. As admitted by mods. The site has some restrictions based off of the template software the site is built on. My guess is it's that software that is so poor and likely not a fault of Robos.

Heh, no worries. There's a work-around. I can just check the "All Types" box in the Type of Search.

I just thought it was odd that that search function seemed to work like that.
