But God gives no promise that after we physically die he will heal us...but he does give the promise that if we repent and believe upon him we will be spiritually saved...

Not sure what you mean by no promise that after we physically die he will heal us.

There will be the ressurection of bodies in the end of the Universe.

Thanks, I've read it and it doesn't specify that in my opinion.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.[Romans 12:1-3]

I reposted that passage because I forgot to bold the last few words to explain the context.

It nails the context but I don't think free willers believe in or respect context. A verse here and there, and they make it say what they want.

I don't buy the excuse of any person who says they've read it and don't see it. It's right there plain as day. They don't want to see it, just like a Catholic they won't let Scripture undo their tradition.

and John Calvin is no difference, you don't follow scripture but follows a man idea of what the scriptures mean. John Calvin was a Catholic and also taught like a Catholic.

Nobody talks about Calvin here. So your post is quite irrelevant.

Also, Calvin was not a Catholic. What an absurd idea.

Agreed. However, faith & repentance are both gifts of God. Once a person has faith, they are saved. Lost ppl do not have faith, because if they did, they are no longer lost.
I hear you, but I think grace is the gift of God through faith...Grace is only given to us if we choose to accept and have faith in God.

How many times did Jesus have to rebuke his disciples for not having faith?...If it was given then they should have just had faith and he wouldn't have had to rebuke them so much for not having faith...would he?

Calvinism is a name associated with those who hold to the Reformed beliefs. But it does not mean we believe everything he taught. He taught paedobaptism, but I am a credobaptism believer.

I tell ppl I am a Calvinist so they have a target to shoot at.

That's funny, I don't read Calvin. You don't bring much to this forum other than slanderous remarks.

Again, Abraham believed God and it was credited to him for righteousness.

The Disciples had the Spirit, just not in the plentitude we have it now. Read Adam Clarke's commentary on John 7:39.

Ok thanks I do have to go but I will read it again..But right now it just really still seems like it is saying that we are saved by God after believing in him and that it is not of ourselves...which I agree we cannot save ourselves...but I still see it as saying that we are no better than anyone else because all have a chance its up to them to accept it or not though....

And to be honest I am not a big fan of the NIV translation of scripture...

This was the funniest thing I've heard all week.

And I appreciate anyone who is just honest and upfront about where they stand on things.

How many of the elect here believe in double predestination?

Could any of you also clear up confusion on the topic of babies and kids that die and go to hell if they are not elect. Is this true or not?

I wonder, is there any problem in English thinking when reading verses like "who will believe will be saved", because you see the word "will" and it can also mean something related to mind, choice etc? Maybe its even the origin of the future tense "will".

If it is so, it must be said that it would be just the English thinking issue only and it is not present in the Greek text.

---

To your question - nobody shuts the gospel down to anybody. Gospel is preached to everybody. But one needs the grace of God to have a real faith and its a gift of God.
I don't think English is the problem here...

Just seems like some folks need to open up their eyes...and quit getting hung up on one or two words...Just Read the whole Bible in context because it don't contradict its self...Just saying...

But it's nice to know that you are so concerned about learning English..:)

Believing is the effect of being saved, not the cause of it.

I believe in a double predestination, but one is active and one is passive:

a) God actively gives grace and whatever is needed to those whom He predestined to salvation. He is actively drawing them to Himself.

b) God does not give everything what is needed for salvation to those whom He has not predestined to salvation. He is not actively pushing them back, to sins, to unbelief etc, though.

----

I do not know about infants, unborn babies etc. I would incline to say they are all saved, because they had no own sin. They have sinful nature after their parents, but it is not a sin as such, it would only lead them to sin in the future.

Yeah, I think the same thing about you sir...It's right there as plain as the nose on your face...Yet it's your free will to choose to open your eyes and see it or not...:D
