Am I my brother’s keeper?

What is sin?..........

1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (10 commandments). (see also 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; James 2:11)

What is the penalty for sin?..............

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Is someone in a saved state while living inknown unrepentant sin?............

Hebrews 10:26-27
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (see also Hebrews6:4-8; James 2:8-12)

How are we saved?.........

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

If you do not have faith that works by love and you have sin in your life do you know God? (find the links).........

Galatians 5:6
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.

Romans 2:29
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (see also 1 Corinthians 13; Hebrews 8:10-12)

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.

We must be born again through Faith in God’s Word. If you are born again you will not practice sin….

1 John 5:4

For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Sin (breaking God’s Law) and love do not go together, only obedience and love through faith go together....

Romans 13:8-10

8, Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9, For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10, Love works no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

James 2:8-12; 17
8, If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11, For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

When God says to us where is your brother? Do we say to God, Am I my brothers keeper?.........

Ezekiel 3:17-21

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou gives him not warning, nor speaks to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. (see also Ezekiel 33:2-7)

All sin is the transgression of God’s Law. If my brother is knowingly breaking any of God’s commandments he is in danger of the judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27). If we do not follow our Lord’s commission to seek and save the lost and warn our brother his blood will our Lord require from us….

In times of ignorance God winks at but not calls all men everywhere to repent and follow His Word. We must obey God rather than man (Acts 5:29; 17:30)

We are our brothers keeper. God is not willing that any should perish. Those that know have a responsibility to those that do not.

Romans 2:12
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

May God bless you all as you seek him through His Word!

Psalms 119:15, “I meditate on Your orders, And regard Your ways.”

Psalms 119:89, “Forever, O יהוה, Your word stands firm in the heavens.”

Psalms 119:130, “The opening up of Your words gives light, Giving understanding to the simple.”

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you”

Psalms 95:1-3, “Come, let us sing to יהוה! Let us raise a shout to the Rock of our deliverance. Let us come before His face with thanksgiving; Let us raise a shout to Him in song. For יהוה is a great Strength, and a great Sovereign above all mighty ones.”

It seems it could be viewed that sin is violating the law, in the case of someone yet under the law.

For any and all who have ever in the past or ever to sin would be disobeying theFather, but then this too is covered by the law.

All who believe Jesus Christ, although living in grace are to still be obedient children of the Most High God, but anyone with children or even a beloeved pet know that once they are devoted to the Father, the guild of any of their wrong_doing is not held agianst them.

Jesus has brought us to the Father, just as the Father brought us to Jesus....... Let the mystery lay unless it is given to yo to understand, but always keep that faith given you. All for the glory of your Savior, Jesus Christ, amen.

Let me define a religious conundrum.

As we know, the law is for the lawless. If proclaiming Christians say that the law has been made void through Christ, then there is no law. Now scripture also says that "where there is no law, there is no sin."

With that said, some believe that it's important to teach that it is right to make void the law in order to make void the sin that it exposes, making the law one and the same with sin. So then it can be said, 'Christ crucified the law, and because of that, sin hasn't any dominion over us, and we are no longer under the law, because it no longer exists. Christ fulfilled it, and put an end to it.' Done!!

To me, this makes no sense. Why?
Because if we are without the law, we are "lawless." Then the conundrum raises its ugly head, and we become lawless by our own religious doctrines. Yet the law is for those who are lawless, making the law inescapable despite this religious rhetoric.

Bottom line...
The law of God cannot be equated with sin, for it only exposes sin.

If we are forgiven of sin, that sin which was truly killed on the cross of Christ, we are no longer "under the law," making us free from its condemnation through Christ, even though it is still in effect for our instruction in righteousness.

If we despise it, we render ourselves as lawless, and the law is for the "lawless," and we are right back where we started before salvation, and "
they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:6b)

Seems that many concentrate too much on getting rid of the law rather than getting rid of their own sin.

Romans 7 -

7 What? Can anyone therefore say that the Law is sin? No! By no means! But to the contrary, I did not know sin; transgression of the Law, except through the Law, for I did not know lust, unless the Law had said: Do not covet.
12 Therefore the Law is holy, and the commandments are holy, and just, and righteous.
13 Did that which is righteous, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through that which was righteous, so that through the commandments, sin might become utterly sinful.
14 For we know that the Law is spiritual; but I was carnal, sold into the power of sin*.

1 John 3:4, "...for sin is the transgression of the Law."

Romans 7 -

16 And if I did what I did not want to do, I agreed that the Law is righteous.
17 As it was, it was no longer I myself who did it, but it was sin living in me.
22 For I delight in the Law of YHWH according to the inward man;
23 But I saw another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the Law in my mind, and bringing me into captivity of the law of sin, which is in my members.
25 Thanks be to YHWH, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of YHWH, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin.

is it a sin to not remember the Sabbath day?

we don't want to judge any particular person. But generally speaking, we can say that those who make a habit of not remembering the Sabbath have not seen Christ or known him.

Sin is breaking God's Law (10 commandments)...............

1 John 3:4

Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (see also Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; James 2:11)

What is the penalty of sin?..............

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God only holds people accountable to sin once they see something is sin but all are under the penalty of sin...........

Acts 17:30
In times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent.

Jam 4:17
Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

Rom 3:19
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Romans 2:12
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law.

Is the Sabbath one of the 10 commandments?................... Absolutely its the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:1-17)

Exodus 20:8-11
8, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9, Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10, But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

If we knowingly break the 4th commandment is it sin?.
........................

James 2:8-12
8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

So God's Word says if we break any one of God's 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of breaking all of them.....

Let's put it all together.............

Sin is knowingly breaking any one of God's 10 commandments. When God sends us a knowledge of His truth then he commands us to repent and follow His Word. The 4th commandment of the 10 commandments is the 7th Day Sabbath. If we knowingly break it like all the other 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of committing sin and are in danger of the judgement. It is not God's will for us to sin but if any of us sin we can turn to Jesus repent of our sins and confess our sins and he will be faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness.........

1John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

It is good news if Jesus has revealed his truth to you. It is up to you now to follow Him and thank him who loves us and calls us out of darkness into his light. Only through faith that works by love can we walk in His ways we must see him who loves all. The mirror shows the way....

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.....

Yes that's correct Dan. This applies to breaking any of God's commandments and why we need a new heart to be born again through faith in God's Word. Saving faith works by love and love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.....

The New Covenant........

Hebrews 8:10-12
10, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts:5 and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11, And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12, For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Ezekiel 36
26,A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27, And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Must be born again to love God and man
........

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

If you are born again you will not practice sin…...........

8, Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another hath fulfilled the law.

8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

Being Born again by Faith in God's Word is the victory that overcomes the world..........

1 John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Luke 8:11
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

1John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Peter 1:22-23
22, Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:23, Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

The New Covenant is faith in God's Word alone for salvation that works by love because love is the fulfilling of God's Law...

Romans 8:1-4
1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,1 condemned sin in the flesh: 4, That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 14:10
Believe thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwells in me, he does the works.

We can do nothing unless we abide in God's Word by faith............

John 1:14
Andthe Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. <The Word of God is Jesus>

John 15:3-6
3, Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4, Abide in me, and I in you <Faith in the Word>. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5, I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me <the Word> ye can do nothing. 6, If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God <the Word> all things are possible.

Mark 9:23
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believe. <Faith the victory>

Matthew 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

May God be praised who can open the blind eyes to see and the deaf to hear and cause the lame to walk.... Many are called but few are chosen because narrow is the way few there be that can find it. Only the mirror can show the way. Can you hear His voice? He stands at the door and knocks will you let him in? Who art thou Lord? I am Jesus the Word. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Speak the Word only and my servant shall be healed. The mirror shows the way. I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance but go learn what that means... It is only through love that we can keep God's commandments because love is the fulfilling of God's Law in us who walk by faith and not by sight we are the blind who love him who first loved us...

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word....

8, Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another hath fulfilled the law.

8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

And I think it would follow, then, that the general catagory of users here on CC,
such as myself,
who claim to believe in Jesus and to be followers of Christ
but don't remember the Sabbath Day
(and granted we don't want to judge any particular person)

are actually deceived and aren't born again after all.

now, would you say that remembering the Sabbath Day involves doing different actions on the other six days than on the Seventh Day?

Revelations 14:8-10

8, And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9, And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

God's people are in Babylon and God is calling them out......................

Revelations 18:1-4
1, And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2, And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great
is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3, For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4, And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Babylon is a women who is the mother of harlots that are the same as her........................

Revelations 17:1-7

1, And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters: 2, With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 3, So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.4, And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5, And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS2 AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6, And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7, And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

A Woman represents God's People professing to follow God or not follow God...........

• WOMAN, PURE = True Church (Jeremiah 6:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23-27)
• WOMAN, CORRUPT = Apostate church (Ezk 16:15-58; 23:2-21; Hos. 2:5; 3:1; Rev. 14:4)

• WOMAN HARLOT = Apostate church/religion (Isaiah 1:21-27; Jeremiah 3:1-3; 6-9)

God is calling his Sheep out to worship him in Spirit and in truth
.....................

Gods true Church meaning; ἐκκλησία; ekklēsia; ek-klay-see'-ah = an assembly of believers that have the Word of God and are sanctified by it. God's Church is organized but it is not an organization it is the believers that are gatherer together in His name...

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

John 10:16
Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

John 4:23

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.

John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Let's put it all together
..........
Babylon represents a fallen woman who is a great Whore. She is also the Mother of Harlots. The great whore and mother of harlot represents the great mother Church (The Roman Catholic Church) her harlot daughters that have come out of her represent fallen Protestantism. God has his people in all Churches but the time has now come when he is calling His people out of the fallen Churches to worship God in Spirit and in truth....

Who should we follow God or man?

God's Sabbath is the 7th Day of the week that God commands his people to keep as a Holy day as a memorial of creation (Gene 2:1-3). The Sabbath was made for mankind and Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath and commands us to obey it. (Ex 20:8-11; Mark 2:27-28) The 7th Day Sabbath is the 4th commandment and one of the 10. If we knowingly break any of God's 10 commandments we commit sin because sin is the transgression of God's Law (Romans 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). If we break one of God's 10 commandments we are guilty of breaking all of them and are in danger of the judgement if we do not repent and seek God's forgiveness (James 2:8-12).

Sunday worship is a teaching and tradition of man over the Word if God and there is no command to keep it over God's Word that commands us to keep God's Sabbath as a Holy day.

Are we following God's Word if we are breaking God's commandments by following the traditions and teachings of man?

Matthew 15:3-9,

3, But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4, For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. 5, But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou might be profited by me; 6, And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7, Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8, This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

What did Jesus and the Apostles teach about the Sabbath in the New Testament?

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Rev 14:12; Rev 22:14; Eze 20:20)
8. Jesus is our example and kept the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56John 2:6; Matt 16:24; 1Cor 11:1; Eph 5:1-21; Pet 2:20-22)
9. The Apostle kept the Sabbath (Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

Who should we follow God or man?

As it is written let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged. In times of ignorance God winks at but now commands all men everywhere to repent. His Word is calling all that have ears to hear... to fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. The 7th Day Sabbath is a memorial of creation, a holy day for the worship of the creator of Heaven and earth and a sign of those that follow him because they love him.

Here is how God's Sabbath commandment was changed from the 7th Day of the week as God's Word has stated (Ex 20:8-11) to Sunday Worship....

PS. To further add to what was said above as God having his people in every Church but calling them out to worship him in Spirit and in truth. Anyone can be born again if they are living up to all the knowledge that God has revealed to them but when God reveals his truth calls all men everywhere to follow him.

Acts 17:30-31
30, In the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent: 31, Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.\

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

May God help you as you seek him through His Word....

LoveGodForever,

re: "Revelations 17:1-7"

Any particular reason for adding an "s" at the end of Revelation?
