Both Calvinism and Lutheran were names that opponents of the two men’s theological beliefs concerning scripture.
Note neither guy had a original bone in their bodies both used scripture and referenced early church fathers in their
publications.
My opinion The Lord used men like these two to bring us out of the RCC at one of its highest times of heresy

Thanks for coming out in the open as being against proper contextual interpretation in favor of tradition.
They will never own up to it, but they proclaim a powerless cross to those who die lost. They believe the Christ died for everybody w/o exception; even those who will never be confronted by a missionary, neither read a bible or heard the gospel. Now, those who died lost, they died lost because they failed to believe. Both sides agree with this. However, if two lost ppl are witnessed to and one believes, the reason why one did believe, was because God had opened their heart via divine regeneration, which in turn, imparts faith and repentance to that person, and they exercise those two gifts and are saved. The reason why the other was not saved, was God has left them in their fallen state, and their wicked heart precluded them from believing what they heard concerning the gospel.

The reason why I say they proclaim a powerless cross is because the cross, in and of itself, won't save them. The Christ died for all, but only those who do their part are saved. So, it is the cross + what they did that saved them.

Those who died lost, the cross could not save them. Why? They did not hold up to their end of the deal. :(

Because Calvinist Movie will probably end up being discussed like a BDF topic. It will make a few a little angry because their fragile theology will be challenged and refuted, even if only via the trailers:

For the record, I've yet to watch the movie, but have ordered it, and, LORD willing it should arrive this weekend and we will be able to see it.
I want to hear from you- your ideas, your thoughts, your bible study conclusions. Anyone can go to YouTube if they want to watch a video about a specific topic, but this is a discussion- not a movie theater. Such things like pictures and videos should be used as reference- not the main discussion.

sometimes we can idolize without even realising.. it is one of those laugh or cry moments..
No one is idolizing Calvin by having a glass with Calvin's face on it. It's no different in those Jesus portraits draped in churches worldwide. That's no more the Christ than I am, but those portraits have zero business inside a church building. 2nd commandment?

It's not called *special* in Scripture, it's called election and God does it based upon nothing in the ones He chooses.

Now your little group is so *special*, you all came to God even when Christ declared no man is able, yet you did anyhow out of your own love and specialness to prove to God you're not robots and did it out of sincerity. How *special* you are above all others.

Except for those who do.: )
I respectfully disagree due to the fact these read Scripture via tradition and don't employ proper contextual exegesis, which is witnessed on here and elsewhere perpetually. ;)

I've yet to witness, after many watched debates, podcasts, read books, any one person who is anti-cal come close to refuting the Doctrines of Grace or TULIP with contextually exegeted Scripture.

Typically those who set out to refute merely run to another text of Scripture in lieu of giving proper exegesis of the one being debated. Then there is also the philosophical and sentimental arguments that are offered instead of Scripture. The Scriptures these employ are taken out of proper context and are generally 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:4 and the big whammy, John 3:16. Oh, also Matthew 22:37.

Shall we start a protest? If you read what I wrote.. I said we.. I agree with you about those portraits and statues alike.. but these men on the glasses are being idolised in ignorance by their fans while enjoying a beverage.. it plays on human nature and that we find everywhere.

I hardly think buying a glass with John Calvin's mug on a glass equates idolization. Respect, yes. Idolizing, no.

I'm not into religious art by any means

but you find no difference between hanging an image of Jesus (even though it prob never looks like him) and hanging an image of Calvin?

okay

if you say so

but I agree on hanging either one

I can hear Calvin now:

'I can't get no respect!'
