Thoughts on this? I have been asking God if they are permissible to him, but I haven't gotten a clear answer yet. One part of my mind is saying that, "Do not expose yourself to things that are unclean." And the other part of my mind is saying. "The bible contains violence."(Almost sounds like something Satan would say to keep myself involved with these things)

In general, I don't really see much wrong with them (unless it's just violence for the sake of violence, or glorifying the violence or something... Like Call of Duty would be OK, while GTA probably wouldn't).

Of course, if you YOURSELF are prone to violence, then constantly exposing yourself to that material wouldn't be a good idea ~_o You just have to make a good judgment call on that one.

ill b honest i do own violent video games including gta. I think their fine if you are mature enough to handle it as some people cant. I do feel its wrong to play violent video games because it does desensitize. But pretty much i dont really play violent games as often as i did before because i just don't find it fun. Sports games are where the funs at.

Mm ok, thanks. I play call of duty 4 and watch some violent movies. For movies, steer away from movies like saw or hostel, but what about movies like Taken or Batman?

I guess it depends, if you let it to affect your life, but, how I see it, movies or games with unnecesary violence could be too much for some people... and when I say unnecesary, I mean like in movies, violences is a tecnique to comunicate an idea, for example, the passion of the Christ, to show how much Christ suffered, they needed to show it in that way, same as in games, they use this tecnique to build a story, usually, Good againts Bad, the good thing is Good has to win, if dont, then game over, try again lol...anyways thats just my point of view, but we have to know how to choose the things we let get in our minds...

I would be more worried about the storyline and the ideas behind the game. For instance, I just finished Assassin's Creed II, and although I found nothing wrong with the violence, the anti-Christian storyline was very upsetting (if you play it through to completion as well as unlocking all the "The Truth" videos, you'll see what I mean).

Actually the main story is usually the reason why I play video games. That why I play JRPGs since they usually filled with story. And Assassin's Creed was Anti-Christian, from what I heard it was anti-religion...

Actually I can think of a time when it would be good play a anti-Christian video game. That would be when you're trying to make a Christian video game and seeing how people make a anti-Christian video to give idea story wise to sorta edge people into being Christian instead of athiets or what ever they believe.

Lol, how was Assassin's Creed anti-religion? It even comes with a disclaimer at the very beginning, saying- "This game is not meant to encourage or discourage any religion. This game was made by people of many varying religions" or something lol.

i can say it is not Gods will for us to sit motionless infront of a screen while violence of any kind filled our heads. was there not a passage saying to fill our minds with what is just, clean, and of good report?

There is violence in the bible. There should be a line drawn, and one that is distinct.

I'm not condeming violent video games but I'm not encouraging them.It is not written :Do not play video games.
You gotta ask yourself if video games have ur attention,or if god has it...

i play quite a bit of violent games myself but i relly agree with the above quote
