[HR][/HR]The {miracle of salvation} as God became man a dwelt among us in form of a man, Jesus the Christ the Son of the living God.
[HR][/HR]Philippians 2:7-9 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

[HR][/HR]Jesus brings us life eternal by His sinless blood, Jesus made the only way for our redemption, as Jesus took our place and Jesus took our sins on our behalf, so we are reconciled to the Father.
[HR][/HR]John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[HR][/HR]And now Jesus being our Savior & Lord it is so overwhelming that we have been made whole, and have been forgiven through Jesus Christ our Lord...now having eternal life forever with our God.
[HR][/HR]John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

[HR][/HR]thank you Jesus, thank you Father and Holy Spirit, as we are new creations in Christ Jesus having been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb...Now we cry out Abba Father, as we have become children of the Most High God set apart unto His good will servants of God.
[HR][/HR]Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.....Love you my dear Savior, My Abba, thank you Holy Spirit.....in all things I give you praise....Sherril...

Adan died spiritually when he sinned....and then later died physically.......the dead body of sin will go to the dirt for sure concerning most....to be born again is to be born spiritually from above by incorruptible seed by the Holy Spirit....

NOTE....the seed is INCORRUPTABLE......most so called Christian religions deny this and say it can be corrupted and lost once it has been born from above.....the bible does not teach this!

Whatsoever GOD does is everlasting.....that includes saving someone and their spirit being born again from above.!

I am having font size problems too...oh well.
To be born again necessitates the death of the "old" you.
This happens at baptism in Jesus' name for the remission of your past sins.
It is written..."Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." (Rom 6:3-6)
We can walk in newness of life in Christ after our death, burial, and resurrection with Him.

To be born again means:
1. To be born of God
2. To be born of the Spirit
3. To be born from above
4. To be supernaturally made a child of God
5. To receive a new nature and become a new creature (or creation) in Christ -- to receive a new heart, a new spirit, a new life, and a new relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The New Birth was already described in the Old Testament but it was not until the Day of Pentecost -- when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon all flesh -- that those who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ also received the gift of the Holy Spirit, and it was the Spirit who regenerated sinners and made them saints. The New Birth cannot be apart from God's laws (the Law of Christ which sums up the Ten Commandments) written in the heart and mind of the one who is regenerated

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (Ezekiel 36:25-27)

But this
shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Jeremiah 31:33)

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people (Hebrews 8:10)

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)

(Titus 3:4-6) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;.......(2 Corinthians 5:19-21)[SUP] [/SUP]To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.............. reconciled to God through Christ Jesus....(Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;...........(Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.......Faith & repentance go hand in hand with being born-again..........love in Christ Sherril...:)

what did it mean to be born the first time?

what characterized that moment? what began at that point?

who brought it about - did i have anything to do with causing it to happen?

The "first" time?
You took a breath outside of your mom.
Yes you did have something to do with it...God enabled you to either breath or die.

John 3:1-7 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:[SUP]2 [/SUP]The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

lol which willful newborn held its breath until it died?

so anyway -
taking a first breath ever: what's that in figure? is there a correlated part in being born again?

i'm supposing that Christ had a very good reason for using birth as an illustration for Nicodemus. i assume that His teaching was in no way arbitrary.

To be born the first time means to be born physically (a baby from your mother’s womb). To be born again is to be born spiritually (baptized into Christ). Of course you had something to do with it- you chose to obey the gospel of Christ- which is baptism. (Babies cannot be baptized- they only get wet, because baptism is a decision to die to yourself, bury your sinful self in the watery grave of baptism, and be raised a new creature in Christ.

OneFaith is this what you mean? not water baptism but baptized into Christ at rebirth....{Romans 6:3-5}..Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?[SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Was I born again at around 9 or 10 when I was baptized? Didn't feel any different.

Or was it when I rededicated myself in my teens (many times responding to altar calls)? Didn't feel much different the next day.

Or was it when I received the fullness of the Holy Spirit in a fresh way after a prayer of surrendering myself as a vessel for Him to use in my 30s ? That was when I absolutely felt different. Something powerful took place in my spirit.

was i really born by my own natural choice or my human will?
either the first or the second time? or both?

this scripture has to fit perfectly with our proper understanding of birth/rebirth:

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 NKJV
[16] Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. [17] Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

i've only lived 40 earth-years in this tent, but it's been long enough to realize that there are many feelings we have as human that we do not experience instantly upon birth, or even at any time from infancy throughout childhood.

do you think spiritually, feelings and emotions might be the same? so that the appearance of some sensation in us according to some time doesn't necessarily correlate with our own first appearance. the day of my first joy isn't necessarily the day of my birth, right? nor remorse, nor gratitude, contentment or any other emotion?

To be born again means to be reborn of the spirit, not the flesh, .the flesh has nothing to do with rebirth because it remains the same until death.. God formed your spirit and put it in you while yet you were in the womb. it is that spirit that brings the body to life. Adam and eve was made lifeless, or dead before God breathed the breath of life into them. that is what brought the body to life. the born again experience is the burden of sin being removed from your spirit soul, being cleansed and from that point your spirit has begun a new birth for new growth by the dwelling of the holy spirit. By the renewing of your mind.

I understand what you mean. But should not being born again bring about a renewal in your spirit? Which would be a feeling. So, is being saved simultaneously being born again? As a child, I was saved. But what I did over and over again was just repent.

There came a time when I went way beyond repenting and really surrendered to live for Jesus. To die to self, and accept His Lordship over my life - let go of control. Wouldn't that constitute the moment when I was born again?

Joidevivre, I would think of it as surrender as you said about Jesus being Lord of your life...The will of the Father being done over our will walking and living in obedience to our God...after regeneration.......Corinthians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;......Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.[SUP]2 [/SUP]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.......the Christian walk is a life walk as we are being perfected as we surrender to His will...1 John 2:4-6 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked............. Love in Christ Sherril..
