Indeed! I think it would be somewhat insulting to her, and to his memory to try and soft-pedal it with PC by down-playing the risk he willingly took, by just extending sympathies as though he had died from pneumonia.

Of course he knew the risk he was taking when he signed up but that's not the point. This man died serving his country and 45 could not even be bothered to show empathy to his grieving Widow
