1 John 1King James Version (KJV)

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Verse 9...
If a man confessed his sin and forgiven and cleansed and believes he does not sin then accuse him not unless you can prove it because you are not the accuser.
If a man comes along and I have met them.. and say they have done nothing wrong and need not forgiving.. yes there are people that judge themselves perfect without sin rather than be found guilty and receive forgiveness and cleansing.. then hold verse 8.. in wait for those who refuse the guilty verdict.. then share 9 and give them hope...
Let us encourage provoking good works and loving each other..
Amen.
If the erroneous interpretation of 1 John 1:8 is true, (that nobody is without sin), then both verse 7 and 9 are lies.
They say we can have all our sins, unrighteousness, washed, cleansed away.

I think loveme1 was trying to reassure our sister by the very fact that she said “Those who claim to be without sin”

And to me the thing is if someone says they do not sin we cannot accuse them of sinning unless we see it.

But as you say all we can do is remind them of the same thing that John says

”If we say we have no sin then we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us”
John also writes..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)
Some are born of God.

None by those who teach a works based vanilla twist dogma, or those who push a sinless perfectionist café blend dogma and or those who push a rotten lasagna I can lose faith and salvation dogma....
Salvation won't be assured till the final judgement.
There is no "losing" it.

Your doubt is showing in your lack of a straightforward answer.
Where is the humility of those who serve the "flesh"?
I have asked you politely, "stop replying to my post.", Did you not read my last post?

The lack of humility in those who incessantly talk of their obedience, love, works is telltale in and of itself.

No person walking this close with Christ would spend this much time pointing to themselves, and have such fleshly pride. They wouldn't have to, nor would they do it.

And you all argue with them day and night on here...lolzzz.
What would you do if you ever repented of sin?
Would you let those around you go to hell without an option?

the ones who will be told to depart are the ones who saw people , Christians to be exact, in need or in bad situations , and did nothing.
Anyone who needs our help should know that God's children will be there for them.

not about who did not keep the Law.
Perhaps you can tell me how many folks have been "helped" by lies, adultery or murder?

If you don't think that the sons of God are worthy of "Him", or that the brethren of Jesus are worthy of "Him", I guess you are trying to merit heaven by your own works.
If that's what you think then I guess you haven’t understood anything I said.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

There's a definition we can infer from this: sin is falling short of the glory of God.

Are you as glorious as God, every nanosecond of every hour? No? Then you are not as sinless as you believe, and you need Him every hour, and it cannot be by works that you are justified, but only possible by faith and His mercy.

This has absolutely nothing to do with desire or will to practice righteousness -- it has everything to do with we being man, and He being holy God

John also writes..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)
Some are born of God.
So do you believe scripture is set against itself?

Or that it is sharp to divide soul from spirit?

Both of these sayings written are true: anyone who makes a practice of sin does not have the Spirit, and anyone, even though they have the Spirit, who says they have no sin is a liar.
This isn't about 'goals' it's about reality, and no one, not one person here teaches that we should wilfully pursue anything other than righteousness.

oh, we have. we believe in His Son. you believe in you. you sin. no one is sinless. that is why we need a sinless savior.
The devils believe, but they tremble.

Why did Paul write..."Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (Cor 15:34)?
Why did Peter write..."
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;" (1 Peter 4:1)?
Why did John write..."
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not." (1 John 5:18)
Do you think they were united in foisting false doctrine on us?
I think not.

PJW, you know I will not judge you or throw a verse to accuse you.. for if you believe you do not sin through your Faith in Christ then Glory be to GOD.

Hebrews 12

12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Maybe you have set aside and resisted unto blood but remember that many here are running the race too.. and there is a saying.. that we should run as fast as our slowest man... not to exalt you as the fastest.. but take all you have received and make yourself the least to encourage others to look to the author and finisher of our Faith .. humble yourself and love and encourage.. edify the members to not behold a glass and see pjw but to behold a glass and see Christ... for all Power is given through Faith in Christ by GOD to resist.. and unless you are at the end of your race and about to take the last breath then.. make sure your armour of GOD remains firmly in place.. we all need it until we enter in to the Kingdom of GOD.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
It must be easy to make your point when you can change the words.
The word "fall" should read "fallen"...past tense.

There's a definition we can infer from this: sin is falling short of the glory of God.
Why not just read what John says about sin..."All unrighteousness is sin:" (1 John 5:17)

Then you won't need to "infer" anything.

Are you as glorious as God, every nanosecond of every hour? No? Then you are not as sinless as you believe, and you need Him every hour, and it cannot be by works that you are justified, but only possible by faith and His mercy.
As glorious as God?..no.
As pure and holy...yes, thanks to the grace and power of God residing in my new life.
That is what is commanded, right?
It is written..."Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16)

This has absolutely nothing to do with desire or will to practice righteousness -- it has everything to do with we being man, and He being holy God
You should really check into rebirth, and all it entails.

So do you believe scripture is set against itself?
Nope, not in the least.

Or that it is sharp to divide soul from spirit?
That is misunderstood by you.
It is actually separation of the fleshly from the spiritual. (paraphrased}

Both of these sayings written are true: anyone who makes a practice of sin does not have the Spirit, and anyone, even though they have the Spirit, who says they have no sin is a liar.
Half right.
Any one who sins is of their father the devil.
and only those who still commit sin are lying if they say they have no sin.
Those who walk in the light, (which is God), have had all their sins washed away by the blood of Christ.

We can be reborn of Godly seed, and it cannot bring forth evil fruit.
Thanks be to God!

This isn't about 'goals' it's about reality, and no one, not one person here teaches that we should wilfully pursue anything other than righteousness.
Pursue without catching it...maybe.
Why do so many castigate the person who exhibits exactly what they allegedly strive for?

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Man is a tripartite being consisting of body, soul and spirit.

Biblically speaking, our soul is the one that is saved when one placed his faith in Christ. Our body still needs to be saved until Christ returns, so that the flesh still sin/s. Our spirit on the other hand is the one that is born again. The regenerated spirit is by the word of God and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

It is therefore imperative that it his spirit that cannot commit sin. When Paul is discussing sin is made because of the flesh, the sin nature. To partake on the ‘divine nature’ on the hand is the nature of Christ which cannot sin. The seed becomes his when the Holy Spirit resides in Him or when one is born again or born of God.

2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

You are afraid of the example of Christ's on earth now.
Why cower behind false modesty during combat with the worldly?
There are times for a meek demeanor, and times to proclaim the power of God.
Look to the example of Stephen.

The mamby-pamby milk toast folks have forgotten they are at war.
I strive against sin.

Your "logic" is an excuse to keep committing sin.
It is an escape from hoiness and the governance of God.

Your body can't do anything without your mind's complicity.

Christ’s is my example... and let Him judge us rather than judge ourselves.. you are alienating people with your ways which is sad because you a waging war against people rather than encourage and provoking them. Stand side by side holding hands with others and be Christ like indeed by GOD’s Power.. but GOD’s Love is our strength..

Why do you assume others sin? They are under Grace at Liberty to walk as He walked and love and forgive as they are loved and forgiven...

Maybe all here strive against sin.. but without love and patience we can not strive against sin...

Christ being the Ultimate exception....Do any of the New Testament writers state they are without sin? Or do they all encourage us not to sin?

Please share.. for I read of Love and encouragement... teaching us what sin is..

Yes without loving intention, which is an engagement with God and the Holy Spirit, everything else is pointless.

Engagement with your own intellect and memory is not engagement with God and the Holy Spirit, but many, many think it is.

What you resist, persists.

Therefore, resist not evil, for if you are in resistance you are already within it.

Being free from sin does not mean sinless, it means you are free FROM sin. If you are resisting sin, you are not free from it. There can be temptation of course, but if you are resisting it, WHY are you at a place of resisting it? Because you are not free from temptation, you are not free from sin.

You are afraid of the example of Christ's on earth now.

It is all about Heavenly Father and our Lord and Saviour.. I’m not against pjw but many are being worn down by him and yet I’m sure if he takes a moment to realise of all the Love and Patience he is afforded then he can share that and encourage us all... rather than be at the finish line telling everyone else where they are.. is it not that we all want to be One with Christ and come together in unity which is Love and Truth..

Through GOD we can be bold yet humble at the same time...
