Isn't repping a person saying it to their face... virtually speaking?

I'm not one of those people who scold rep. It's always a good-thing rep.
I've gotten one scolding/shaming rep over the yrs. Something about how disappointed they were from a post. They didn't leave their name.

It reminded me of the messed up parent who would scold their kid while giving them chocolate chip cookies!

I usually leave my name, and an encouraging message. I don't really say thank you for the rep. I feel like that would be redundant. Like maybe they would then want to thank me for thanking them, then I'd thank them for thanking me that I thanked them......

I also don't want to seem to be pandering.

I get that dilemma too. If I get a rep with a comment (usually people leave encouraging words) I send a thank you (for the message) because I think that's precious.

I just realized...I hate it when people don't leave rep comments that indicate who they are. But I never leave my name on a rep comment.
