1) You can not masturbate unless you fantasize about having sex with someone = lust,
Jesus said, even if you look at a woman with lust, you have done adultery with her in your heart = sin.
2) Yet you can have lust and not masturbate = sin
3) However through masturbation you nourish the lust that is leading you to masturbate, and strengthening it, through the powerful feelings of orgasm and pleasure that masturbation gives and the marks that it leaves in the unconscious level of the brain. => masturbation might give temporary relief, but on the other hand it will strengthen those negative feelings.

On the practical level
1) It is a loss of energy, => that energy can be used for work, play, study and for searching a partner.
2) It comes with a feeling of emptyness and/or guilt for there is no giving and receiving, no partner presence, no touch, no connection both physical and emotional to another human being = way less pleasant and sattisfying as having a wife.
3) Confuses the natural sex drive of a person. The natural sex drive to every person is something that God has put there to make us come out of isolation and unite ourselves to another human being.

Health level
It needs to be researched without bias, however research has clearly proven that natural sex, peno - vaginal sex that is, is better for health too.

Conclusion

God has made everything right but people have searched many schemes, rejoice with the wife of thy youth and may her breasts sattisfy you always, why embrace the breast of another woman or/(why embrace yourself... lol)
We are not perfect but God can cleanse us from every sin.

I dont know why were still talking about it, but i do have a question so one of th emain arguments is that it doesnt detail out specificially in teh bible that "thou shalt not masterbate". And yet the bible speaks of lust which definetly ties into masturbation. There are lots of things that thebible doesnt specifically say no tobut are still a sin. If you still believe its not a sin and you can masterbate without the feeling of guilt than go right ahead I gues, this is something I cannot do that I know I would just be trying to justify the sin I am commiting.

look i Agree, mastubation is a sin bro, you obviously dont want to be released becuase your defending it so much. thats why you feel wrong when you do it, its called conviction and thats God letting you know that its not a good thing. If you continue in doing so, sin has a consequence, Im not going to water down the truth for you, becuase Jesus wants you to be Holy as he was Holy, but as long as you stuggle with the same sins, you can not produce fruits, and you are in bondage. He wants you to grow in Knowledge. I dont acclaim to have attained perfection, we all struggle, but God wants us to fight, and make war, not just keep giving in. We have to get bold with this sin. I recall in the bible I think it was in exodus, where someone spilled their seed on the Ground and God killed them. There seed meant there semen.. which is what you are doing when you masturbate, its called sexual immorality. God created you, and that is not mother nature saying do it, that is the devil saying do it, the king of lies. and hes telling u to bend the truth to be ok with it. When Jesus was tempted the devil used Scripture to do so, and Jesus replied, it is written. You need to speak out the truths of the Lord and ask him for holyness, becuase you will not repent unless you want to be free. Its in your heart. But brother I tell you it is a sin. You ever been chastised by the lord for repeating sin? Not many people get that far, but if you continue this could happen to you, becuase you are his son. I have been, and its not pleasant, Getting spanked by an all powerful God isnt fun, but it will make u stop. aEvery time u do that sin, you are planting seeds of filth in your heart and they will sprout into uncontrollable lust. Read proverbs, it talks about guarding your heart, and eyes, and not putting your foot toward sin. MASTURBATION IS A SIN. its our job is brother to tell you the truth, Christ is Lord, and i will speak the truth, not like pharisees to tickle ears.

Pray, and read the word, spend time with God, the only way to overcome it is through Christ, get close to him, and you will see how disgusting it is. Its a promise. He will deliver you from it. You need to draw close to him. He will forgive you, and make you new. We have all been through this problem. God loves you, God bless brother.

Well I can't say for sure if it is wrong for everybody, but I know for me it is. I started masturbating in high school and got "hooked" on it I guess you could say. When I got married I did not stop, especially if it was "awhile" for me and my husband to do the deed. I found my sex life with him was not very good, mostly because while we were doing it I was always thinking "geez, I can do this better myself." So I forced myself to stop masturbating, and guess what! Sex with my husband became FABULOUS!!! So no, I don't judge people that masturbate because I am certainly guilty of that one, but I would never EVER recommend it ESPECIALLY for married people. It really can effect the marital relationship.

Was that too much information?

I believe it is sin because I have felt convicted for it greatly after I accepted Jesus as my savior. Along with oral sex, or any other sexual immoralities.

I really want to, but I don't want to make him angry. Also, if he can see everthing, that means he sees me when I do it. So, it's like he's frowning at me.

Help?
Just make sure God is the only one who sees u.

I would say, don't do it. Because then you'll have images in your head and expectations....and all of that should be saved for the person you're going to marry. I know God created sex and it's natural to have these urges, but if it's going to be harmful--turn to Him for help. I mean, Jesus dealt with every temptation we face. Do you think he masturbated? .....I mean, i guess we can't know for sure, but I don't think so. And He's already defeated all that, so run to Him for strength. :]

OMG I cannot believe some of the posts I'm reading about masterbation being a sin, this type of advice comes straight from the Catholic insitution.....how about this read Exodus and Leviticus , and you will know the answer ...let me just give you a quick hint , it is not a sin....all it takes is a little Bible knowledge and you too can know the truth, whenever something is in question go straight to the source. Read those 2 books of the Torah ..and God bless

I don't like this topic, and there are many Christians who are divided over the issue. This Scripture comes to mind every now and then. I honestly don't know if Jesus was talking specifically about masturbation when He said these words, or if what He said included masturbation, or if what He said had nothing to do with masturbation at all. It is not my intention to put words in God's mouth, so please don't go nuts with this one.

Matthew 5:30;
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Masturbation is ABSOLUTELY a sin.

Here's some scriptures to back it up.

But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also.
Genesis 38:9-10

Jesus Said:
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:27-28

This means once you look at a woman with sexual desires in your mind, you are committing adultery because sin is more then just an action it is an attitude.

When you look at porn or images or anything along those lines, You are lusting. That is sin in itself. Masturbating is committing a sin against your own body. & Your body is the temple of God.

Jesus Said:

Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:34-36

It doesn't say anything about smoking being a sin either.. doesn't mean it's not a sin. You are a slave to whatever masters over you.

If you want to break your habit of masturbation Repent from it. & Trust in the Lord & he will set you free from it.

All things are possible to those who believe. You will not be slave to your sin if you turn from it & trust in Jesus. He can do all things & he lives in you.

Don't grieve him away with your sin :C He loves you so so much.

God bless.

*sigh* I said that I wasn't going to get involved in this topic, but some people just can't go to sleep unless they've shepherded somebody else. Whoever you are, know that I do not answer to you, your church, your pastor, your elders, your denomination (if you have one), your interpretations of Scripture, or your own personal guilt that you project onto anyone and everyone by making them feel as bad as you do. You will not shepherd me, son.

Onan didn't want kids. End of story. Next.

So masturbation doesn't need to apply to this issue, does it? You don't have to spank your monkey to lust after a woman.

Yeah, I'm really desecrating this temple of God by pounding my fish, am I not?

If I'm a slave to whatever I enjoy in life, then I must be a slave to General Tso's chicken.

I never said I wanted to break from the "sin" of masturbation because I don't believe that it is a sin. That's your issue.

How can God love us if He gives us the desire to have sex (a desire we did not ask for, by the way) and then tells us that we are not allowed to alleviate ourselves from it? It's like He rubbed poison ivy all over our bodies and then tells us not to scratch ourselves. That's messed up. Don't grieve HIM? Don't grieve HIM?! You have got to be kidding me!

And then you ended your reply with "God bless". Don't patronize me. You know that you don't want God to "bless" me because you want me to suffer like you do. You're like a meter maid who, because she hates her job, wants everyone else to have a bad day, too. Get off your high horse and go bother someone else. I'm not going to let you get into my head and control me. And don't tell me that that's not what you're trying to do. If you weren't, you wouldn't have responded, would you? No.

THIS.

I thought of that verse when I first read the question. You can't masturbate without thinking lustfully towards someone. I don't see why people are looking past that verse.

Hey NightOwl, i can see you are pretty annoyed at my post.

I am not sure why you are SO upset about it..

One of the most important fruits of the Spirit is Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23)

I am not on my high horse at all sir. You have to understand that just because you desire to do something doesn't make it acceptable in Gods eyes.
Jesus Said:
"You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is
detestable in God's sight.

He made us with sexual desires so that we would not be secluded. He said back in the Garden, it is NOT good for man to be alone, so he made a woman.

Don't be angry at me for expressing my thoughts on this subject. & my thoughts are it is absolutely a sin to touch yourself to release pleasure. You are to have more self-control then that as a christian. You may be angry because you have been doing it for so long & it's become so natural to you now that your conscience is partly seared to it but I tell you it is a sin.

Or do you not know?: A fool has no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. Proverbs 18:2

Your life is not to seek pleasure for yourself, it is to seek pleasure for God!

If it makes you feel any better, i use to masturbate too, but i prayed to god to help me & he delivered me from that sin. & my life is so much better now. I use that energy to do productive things. You are so much happier being Freed from sin rather than being a master to your own pleasure.

Your sexual desires will become so much better once you find a wife too. That is why God made our sexual nature to great. Because sex is a gift from God BETWEEN MAN & WOMAN. You must have Patients my friend, & with that Self-control.

I really do hope God gives you revelation on this subject. I'll be praying for you NightOwl :) God bless dude.
