As one who lives in the Scientology capital Clearwater, FL I did read her book Troublemaker about how she got out of Scientology.

I also have read articles in our news paper about people that are in the church and learned about some of their beliefs which are strange as they are alien believing money making church. Best I can figure is God is pretty much left out of the church and you can earn your way to a better place. Taking classes, giving money or soliciting for money if you don't have it yourself.

Wrong just wrong and as cultish as you can get. But again humans trying to earn their way to a better place rather than trusting God and accepting the gift of salvation which is free for all.

Yes, so bizarre! And they have a cross as part of their logo... why in the world, why?? Their beliefs have nothing to do with Christianity.

It is! I hate what they do to children.
Yes! So horrible!

I'm also watching 'Glenn' a show by Glenn Beck where he uses a chalkboard to explain things. This week he is going over Socialism and I can't help but notice the glaring similarity between Scientology and Socialism.

Scientology = you pay a FORTUNE to reach a fantasied utopian condition that doesn't really exist.

Socialism = Someone else pays your way there.

I was actually referring to how both believe that children don't belong to their parents and everything is in a collective.

Oh.

Sorry.

I don't have any answers for actual meaningful questions.

Oh no your response was perfectly fine. Accurate and a sense of humor that I don't have. (Unless it's wordplay or a pun, I don't get it. Sorry).

So basically, from what I understand, Scientology is supposed to be a religion that promises you the way to more success and happiness by "cleansing your mind and spirit"..... And the hook is that to acheive this sense of heightened enlightenment you need to pay for membership, learn from their enlightenment gurus and swear to uphold their rules which include keeping everything you learn and the ways of the church a secret.

I didn't watch anything. I just surmised that from everything I've heard over the years.

well, I have watched a good half dozen episodes and also seen a few specials on scientology

apparently, they believe humans are all invaded by 'thetans' living inside of them. they are the disembodied spirits of alien beings

here is a primer from wiki

now if they would just read the Bible, they might learn that some folks do have demons and Jesus cast them out

no need for Scientologists....:p

scientology is 'demonology', and is usually for the rich and famous,
kind of a 'pass' to do whatever you want to, if you support and pay enough...

this is one of the greatest and saddest things that is actively and very prosperous in
leading/duping many pitiful souls and separating them from their Holy Saviour...
