Lol, yes if only I would've read that version first!

I go online and look verses up in every translation sometimes. KJV is my least favorite but there are some verses that seem they should not be said in anything BUT the KJV, because of their beauty.

There are times it has made me laugh too though, like...but Lord, hes been dead three days. By now he stinketh! Forgive me, but I cracked up when I first read it. :)

Lol, they offer many different versions on the Bible app as well, it would just take me forever to click on each and everyone. I try to click on the ones I'm most familiar with. Also, for the most part the Holy Spirit makes me want to laugh most of the time. Plus, he understands all of his children very well, so I'm sure he knows why you laughed when you first read that verse.

I'm am doing a soul detox plan on the Bible app. And today it was Proverbs 15:1-33 well verse 11 has me completely confused. I feel like I'm staring at exactly what it means, but because God's understanding goes way above and beyond my own I'm lost.

Proverbs 15:11 Death and Destruction lie open to the Lord-how much more do human hearts. NIV

Any thoughts, comments, or interpretations would be greatly appreciated.

No flesh can sanctify itself! Do to the fall of Adam the body is dead and useless to God. Only the Holy Spirit can do the work in us that needs to be done. (Romans 8:2; 10-13)

Galatians 2:20-21 King James Version (KJV)[SUP]
[/SUP]
[SUP]20 [/SUP]I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (Supernatural Power): and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God (to release this Supernatural Power, our Faith must be placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Finished Work of Christ, i.e., The Blood of Jesus), who loved me, and gave himself for me.
[SUP]
[/SUP]

[SUP]21[/SUP]I do not frustrate the grace of God (I do not hinder the flow of the Holy Spirit): for if righteousness come by the law (the flesh), then Christ is dead in vain.

Romans 12:1-2 King James Version (KJV)

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (We can't sanctify ourselves. This work of God that is demanded in verses 1 and 2 can only be done when the Believers Faith is placed and maintained exclusively (daily) in Christ and the Finished Work, i.e., The Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus. When the Holy Spirit sees that the Believers heart is exhibiting Faith in Christ and the Finished Work, He begins to do the work in us (because we are glorifying Christ) that is impossible for us to do. The Holy Spirit only works between the perimeters of Jesus Christ and the Finished Work.

What is the difference in the "Flesh" and the "Law?"

The law is either the Law of Moses, or else, it's the laws we devise ourselves, or someone else devises, which make us believe that keeping these laws, or trying to do so, will give us victory. It won't!

The "flesh" is the effort and ability of the individual, and I speak of education, motivation, intellect, talent, ability, etc. The idea is, when one resorts to law, he has nothing but the flesh to help him because the Holy Spirit will not get involved in such an effort. This leaves the person guaranteed of defeat.

Why is the "Flesh" incapable?

It is incapable because of the Fall that made it ineffective. Paul said, "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness (Romans 8:10)."

Despite this, we Believers keep trying to do that which cannot be done and which was never meant to be done by us. God has a Way, and we must function in that Way, which will guarantee victory.

For the Believer to receive everything for which Christ died, which is Salvation for the soul and Sanctification for the Saint, all the Believer has to do is place his Faith entirely and totally in Christ and what Christ did for us at the Cross (Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Cor. 1:17-18, 23; 2:2; Gal. 6:14). When this is done, our Faith placed totally and completely in Christ and the Cross, then the Holy Spirit, Who is God, begins to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Paul said, "But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

This is "a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God!"

Proverbs 15:11 Death and Destruction lie open to the Lord-how much more do human hearts. NIV
To understand what is in the Bible, one must begin with a reliable translation. The NIV has mistranslated the verse.

Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (KJB)

Holman Christian Standard Bible
Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD-- how much more, human hearts.

In this case the HCSB is correct. Sheol is Hades, both of which were translated as "hell" in the KJB, but it is certainly not the same as "death".

What this verse is saying is that God already knows who is in Hades, and who will be in Hades in the future. God also knows who will be in eternal Hell (called Abbadon or destruction) which is the Lake of Fire. Since God is omniscient, He sees and knows everything in advance. THEREFORE it is a small matter for Him to look into all human hearts and see exactly what thoughts, desires, and motives are controlling people. In a nutshell nothing is hidden from God, and no one can hide from Him.

Proverbs 20:27 (KJV)
The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Jeremiah 16:17 (KJV)
For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face,
neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

Job 34:21 (KJV)
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

Proverbs 15:3 (KJV)
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Proverbs 15:11 (KJV) Hell and destruction are before the Lord: How much more then the hearts of the children of men?

Hell", the place of holding for judgment; and "destruction" is one of Satan's names.

Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit [Satan], whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon [destruction], But in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon [destruction].

God cares what you think, and he is aware of everything that you do and say. He knows if your mind is given to destruction or righteous ways. God wants you to love Him.

1 Chronicles 28:9 KJV

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Our Lord knows everything we have ever done. Ezekiel's vision in Ezek. 8:8-12 makes that clear (" what the ancients (elders) do in the dark (secret), every man in the chambers of his imagery (our deepest thoughts). Our Lord knows and sees it all. Our Lord Jesus also showed that in John 8:3-9 when he stooped and wrote on the ground the sins of those who condemned the woman taken in adultery. When he wrote them on the ground, he brought them to their memory and they all left ashamed and convicted of their own sins. Nothing but nothing is hidden from the Lord as was shown many times in the gospels how he knew all that the people were thinking (Matt. 9:4,12:25, Luke 5:22,6:8,11:17). In Rom. 2:15, it's written that our consciences are our own witnesses for or against us. What all this proves is that our minds are storage computers that our Lord can access and view at any time. This is what Prov. 15:11 is saying, how the hearts of the children of men are before him. He sees all.
In Rev. 1:18, our Lord holds the keys of hell and death. In Job 26:6, hell is naked before the Lord and destruction hath no covering. In both these verses, hell and death mean the same thing as does hell and destruction. Eternal death and destruction are what hell is all about. Our Lord is he who holds the keys or he is the one who has the power to bring salvation or eternal damnation to each and every one of us (our own consciences being witnesses for or against us).
"Prov. 15:11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?" is really a very clear warning. Our Lord has the power over where we spend all of eternity which is determined by what's in our own hearts (our minds, our consciences, our memories).
What's really beautiful about our Lord is his power, his grace to erase all those things in our hearts that would condemn us as if they never ever happened. All we have to do is turn away from them and follow him. He has done all the rest. How beautiful is that! For all those who have sinned---who hasn't? All you have to do is repent, turn away from it, stay away from it, follow Jesus (read the Word), and prepare to be amazed because you will be blessed.
