Just because he knows betting terms? How do YOU know them?
I don't. Are you intent on digging up something on me because you are convicted by what I'm saying? That's what unbelievers do, not believers.

Yes, I know how this works in the church these days, folks. You're the one's purposely watching naked people engage in explicit sex acts, but I'm the bad one here, lol. But I know that is where the church is these days.

Chances are many of you came into the church at the promise of God's grace in the forgiveness of sins, not also at the promise of God's grace in not wanting to be in bondage to sin anymore.

It took me until just recently what it was that was dividing the church into devout followers of Christ who defend right living and those who talk up the gospel of God's grace but who do not live it out. I think I now know the answer. Some of you did not come to Christ to be different people delivered from the things that condemned you as sinners separated from God. You came to him just for the forgiveness of sin, not in the desperate hope that you could be set free from your bondage to sin.

I don't necessarily blame the flock. I blame a very misguided and uneducated leadership who have misrepresented the gospel and who think they are doing right by luring unconverted and lukewarm people into the church with only one half of the gospel--the half about the forgiveness of sin, at the expense of the other half, the promise of the deliverance from the sin that a person should want to not walk in anymore and which should have been included in why they would want to come to Christ.
You are way out there phart, noone is "getting defensive" about or encouraging looking at explicit content outright, you simply have a differing view and are trying to push it off on people, explicitness is on tons of tv shows nowadays as well as the internet, does this mean we must throw our tvs and computers/phones in the garbage to please God?
No we just need to let God guide us in our lives but it doesn't mean as you keep insinuating that by looking at anything explicit even for a second, that we are separated from God,Yes it's good to stave off from explicit shows and so on,but you seem to not understand the concept that though we serve God and put him first our lives don't end up serving God all day and all night, like take David and Solomon in the bible for example each one had around six hundred wives and concubines,do you really think that they did forever for God all day and all night and took no thought of their selves, boy did they ever,David trief getting bath sheba as a wife despite having tons of women and unwittingly killed bath sheba's husband, and Solomon though he started out selfless and wise he eventually paid homage to other Gods for the sake of his wives, life isn't as "easy" as you seem to think it is,you don't just get up and think I'm not doing anything that is not for God,because you would be lieing to yourself, for example driving a car,it isn't necessary but we use them, phones,we can communicate by talking to people when we see them instead but we don't,any entertainment whether decent or indecent is a luxury that we might partake of or not, some are worse than others to partake of but either way God doesn't go and decide"well they partook of something indecent after being saved I will condemn them for this now",it's not that simple,to be honest I have seen far more explicit content in my life than I should have at an early age but I am grateful to God because after being saved I realize that God doesn't give up on us so easily, whether saved or not saved he endures with us to guide us to do right over time and he even forgives us for our backslidings though we aren't deserving.
I don't know how you can think that something as trivial and common as explicit content, can lead us away from God,it's wrong most definitely to view any explicit content, but so are many sins God forgives that weyou don't even perceive in a day,so while I get your grievance please put your faith in God and let him handle the fight against explicitness, instead of "putting down" people for a sin that has been around for thousands of years that you yourself have probably indulged in at a time,to pester people to "change" is just in a sense harassment not "correction","correction" is when you correct someone in what they do wrong and seek your input, harassment is when you interject in a conversation that has nothing to do with you and you make yourself apart of it by pushing your view on people that never asked for your view.

The last shows I watched were:
Dukes of Hazzard
Knight Rider
A-Team
Air Wolf
Magnum P.I.
He-Man
Simon and Simon
Rip Tide
The Incredible Hulk
Highway to Heaven

I haven't seen much TV since then.

BTW..... For the record, I love seeing naked women.... PHart can call me anything he wants, except late for dinner.

Yes, men, your WIFE'S breasts, not someone else's.

I was asked if I had a scripture for a couple that had met in the youth group at church and then married. This was it. I read it out loud in the youth group and prayed over them. I hoped it would give them a good jump start on a beautiful, intimate life together. Sex belongs in marriage. Don't defile the wedding bed by inviting strangers in, even if only through the eye gate.
I think this is a good point too. This is what I was originally meaning too. There is something very attractive in sex, to the way a man is with a woman. The Bible makes no secret of it, nor do any of the other writings most ancient. I mean in a bygone era of our ancestors people were actually married, there was a sorta beauty in sex because when people first have sex it be on their wedding night. That sorta romantic quality does not exist in our time however, it's not a matter of justifying it or not, sex is a big seller and this hard-wiring in the human condition is exploited to the max all over in for say marketing, advertising, movies, TV, etc. I think it could be an interesting intellectual debate between whether art cheapens sex or sex cheapens art, perhaps a bit of both.

Help me out here. How can a Christian think it's okay to watch Game of Thrones and Versailles?
Hahaha I don't know about Versailles, but Game of Thrones for me is definitely a sinful pleasure to watch! :D

I have to admit that I tried to stop watching it after a certain episode that made me realize how incredibly sadistic the writer must be, but people I knew kept telling me that the show gets even better but I continued to avoid watching it for about a year.... but then one night I decided to see if they were right....

...and when you think about it... all the things the characters did on that show are not above what people really did back in the days of castles and kings... Medieval times were wicked indeed!

What a joke. You condemned me for watching movies rated for eight, ten and thirteen year olds. The movie I watched last night had no nudity in it either. It was all about the discovery of one hundred and forty nine pedophile priests in the Catholic church in Boston, by a news team called "Spotlight," which was also the name of the movie. I liked Secretariat and War Horse better :) Still, movies depicting real life events are among my favorite :)

These people believe there is no other motivating factor or interest in watching a show that happens to have sex in it, and anything we say otherwise is a made up excuse.

And that it's impossible to view a sex scene, fast forward, or not pay close attention without getting "aroused".

With these beliefs that we are all liars, the shows are strictly pornography, and we are powerless before sexual scenes, you have to wonder how perverted and inhibited their minds are for what they accuse us of.

Ask a GoT fan why did you enjoy it, they won't say, well all the graphic violence and sex scenes, they will make something up. I know that because I've asked multiple people. It allows them to watch filth or pornographic material without saying they watch such things 'so to say'.
Let me guess, you're the exception that can look at two naked people having explicit sex and it doesn't occur to you that you are viewing sexually arousing material. Come on.
If this were a matter of people struggling with sex addictions I'd understand. But as it is, we have Christ professing people openly and shamelessly proclaiming and rejoicing in their salacious sexual appetites.
Yes, all those history books, and documentaries with explicit, gratuitous sex scenes in them. Come on, Magenta. Stop rationalizing lust.

I don't watch TV. What with my phobia of seeing anything the least bit violent, tense, or gory, and the old fashioned ideas of what should and should NOT be shown on film, I don't find much TV that I enjoy. Unless you count Roy Rogers, Little House on the Prairie, or the old black-and-white Zorro, the most recent of which folded in 1983 :p

Have you tried Bobs Burgers? Its alot better than those shows : p

(Older Simpsons was great though)
Yes, I agree. I only watch older Simpsons episodes, the ones from the first ten seasons.

Haven't seen Bob's Burgers. I hear it's a good show so maybe I'll check it out. Too bad it's not on Netflix so I could start watching from the beginning.

Nope, did not do that. I did not address that part of your post. There is no need to. I'm coming against your belief that it's okay for Christians to view naked couples having explicit sexual contact.

Yes, I have no choice but to consider any person who willfully and purposely watches naked people having sex, and is not ashamed of it, as not having the Spirit in them until they prove to me otherwise. They can talk all they want about God's grace in well worded, even wise posts and blogs, but until they show some evidence that they have received that grace I will not consider them to be a brother or sister. You will know them by their fruits, not by their words.

Hey phart why do you keep hounding on the part about sex? It's like you're obsessed with it or something. YOU brought sex-on-TV into the conversation and YOU are the one keeping that part of the topic alive. What is it with you and sex on TV?

Mind you, I don't even watch TV. I just have too many other things I'd rather be doing. But your insistence about talking about sex, specifically, is somewhat bizarre.

Is the passion of the Christ too violent? I think the violence is necessary to convey the message properly and it's an important one.

Is the twilight zone safe to watch? Or is that too demonic?

What do you like to watch or do? Lead us in your example, all you are doing right now is condemning everything, and if we don't see what you do we can't really take it seriously.

No one takes advice from the man behind the curtain. Reveal how you live and what you do and the wisdom might be reflected in that.

All we know is that you have deranged paranoia and believe this website's sole purpose is to sell our information, that you judge/label Christians as unbelievers for perceived sins, and are afraid to answer questions that reveal your opinions. This unwise behavior in these unrelated areas make us believe you are overall unwise and we should take everything you say with a grain of salt.

Perhaps if you discuss how to properly censor one's life and give examples of what you do, you can establish some credibility in this area.

Why ya'll give this man PHart such a hard time? He ain't totally wrong, he's actually a good bit right. I guess I could just be a bit of a pessimist, I just accept it as the reality that I was born into and that we live in. I mean sex and TV/movies is a big subject especially right now with almost daily news of another actor or director or big TV/Movie person being exposed or confessing to some lurid sex scandal. Kinda leaves little to wonder why TV and movies are so sexualized. Art imitating life, or life trying to imitate art, a pretty classic motif.
