What is “the day of the Lord" / “the "\Day of YHWH"

Is it Sunday?

Is it when YHWH's wrath is poured out upon the earth and it's inhabitants?

Or is it something else completely?

The term “the day of the Lord" / “the Day of YHWH" is used among believers to mean different things, but what is it really?

Hello Hizakyah,

Just some advice, do not confuse the "Lord's day" with "the day of the Lord." The former was/is referring to the first day of the week, where "the day of the Lord" is referring to the coming time period of God's wrath via the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments. These are referring to two different things.

The Lord’s Day is Sunday, the first day of the week, but the Day of the Lord is Judgement Day, the end of the world, the day of the wrath of God.

Compare...
Revelation 1:19
Malachi 4:5

Isaiah 13:1-8, "13:1, "The message concerning Baḇel which Yeshayahu son of Amots saw."13:2, "“Lift up a banner on the high mountain, raise your voice to them; wave your hand, let them enter the gates of the nobles."13:3, "“I have commanded My set-apart ones; I have also called My mighty men for My displeasure, My proudly exulting ones.”"13:4, "The noise of an uproar in the mountains, like that of many people! A noise of uproar of the reigns of nations gathered together! יהוה of hosts is gathering an army for battle."13:5, "They are coming from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, even יהוה and His weapons of displeasure, to destroy all the earth. (Isa 24:1-23, Isa 34:1-17, Isa 63:1-19 and Isa 66:1-24)"13:6, "Howl, for the day of יהוה is near! It comes as a destruction from the Almighty."13:7, "Therefore all hands go limp, every man’s heart melts,"13:8, "and they shall be afraid. Pangs and sorrows take hold of them, they are in pain as a woman in labour; they are amazed at one another, their faces aflame!"

I wasn’t finished editing, I didn’t have these verses memorized, I had to go fish for them, but here they are... compare Revelation 1:10 to Malachi 4:5. They clearly show they are different.

I came to be in the Spirit on the Day of יהוה,a and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet.

Revelation 8:1-6, "And when He opened the seventh seal, there came to be silence in the heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven messengers who stand before יהוה, and to them were given seven trumpets. And another messenger came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer, and much incense was given to him, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the set-apart ones upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the set-apart ones, went up before יהוה from the hand of the messenger. And the messenger took the censer, and filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, and thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven messengers who held the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound."

Malachi 4:1-6, "4:1, "“For look, the day shall come, burning like a furnace, and all the proud, and every wrongdoer shall be stubble. And the day that shall come shall burn them up,” said יהוה of hosts, “which leaves to them neither root nor branch."4:2, "“But to you who fear My Name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings. And you shall go out and leap for joy like calves from the stall."4:3, "“And you shall trample the wrongdoers, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” said יהוה of hosts."4:4, "“Remember the Torah of Mosheh, My servant, which I commanded him in Ḥorĕḇ for all Yisra’yl – laws and right-rulings."4:5, "“See, I am sending you Ěliyah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of יהוה., "“And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with utter destruction.”

Both the Day of YHWH, so am I missing something you are saying? I don't see anything about Sunday here.

The great and dreadful Day of the Lord is the end of the world. Now if John started writing Revelation on that day, how would the book of Revelation be a warning? How would we have the completed bible if God’s wrath happened the very day he started writing? No, he was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day- which is Sunday, the first day of the week. It was written to prepare us for the coming Day of the Lord- which is the end of the world- which is different than the first day of each week- thus “The Lord’s Day” and “The Day of the Lord” are two different days.

if we are talking about the Lords day it is technically both saturday and sunday because for the Jews the day officially ends at sun down and begins the next day so really for that day it depends on which calendar you choose to go by. as for the day of the Lord well... it wont be pretty

But you would be mixing the Creator'd caledndar with the roman calendar. The Sabbath of YHWH is on the roman calendar Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, on YHWH's calendar it is the 7th day.

Leviticus 23:32, “It is a Sabbath of rest to you, and you shall afflict your beings. On the ninth day of the new moon at evening, from evening to evening, you observe your Sabbath.”

However I am not aware of the Sabath (7th day) or the (1st day) being called the "Lord's Day" or "YHWH's Day" in Scripture.

But I do agree the day of the wrath of YHWH will not be pretty!

John was "in the Spirit" and prophesying

Revelation 1:9-10, “I, Yoḥanan, both your brother and co-sharer in pressure, and in the reign and endurance of יהושע Messiah, came to be on the island that is called Patmos for the Word of יהוה and for the witness of יהושע Messiah. How did any of the prophets 2,000, 4,000, or how every many years ago see the future if they lived so long ago? They
were "in the Spirit" and prophesying. John wrote that 2,000 years ago and was
prophesying the future. Where is any Scripture saying John was prophesying on Sunday?

Respectfully, if what we call Saturday night is really Sunday morning- then what we call Friday night is really Saturday morning- which means it’s still a 24 hour period. Which is really the correct way, because in the first days it says “...there was evening and morning, the fourth day.” So the first days started in the evening according to God. We are the ones who changed it.

So the Creator of all that is create the sun, moon and stars to be "for signs and appointed times, and for days and years" but now acts according to Pope Pope Gregory XIII calendar?

I dont think so.

Genesis 1:14, "And the Mighty One said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years.”

actually, I agree with you about this. I was not contradicting you ( for once, for now ). a calendar invented by a pope. well, probably not a good thing.

Right on, yeah it is prophesied here:

Daniel 7:25, "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."

times” is word #H2166 – zeman, Strong's Concordance, zeman: time, Original Word: זְמָן, Part of Speech: Noun Masculine, Transliteration: zeman, Phonetic Spelling: (zem-awn'), Short Definition: time

Daniyl Chapter 2-7 is written in Aramaic, not Hebrew. The Israylites were taken captive to Babylon and made to forget their ways under the rule of the Bablonian king. “Zem-awn'” is an Aramaic word, and is the literal equivilent of the Hebrew word “moadim” - word #H4150 meaning: “appointed times”

"time" for , “a time and times and the dividing of time” Is a different root word from the first thus showing it conveys a different meaning.

“a time and times and the dividing of time” is word #H5732 – iddan, Strong's Concordance - iddan: time, Original Word: עִדָּן, Part of Speech: Noun Masculine, Transliteration: iddan, Phonetic Spelling: (id-dawn'), Short Definition: time

It may or may not be talking about Pope Gregory XIII, because the Israylites started keeping a different calendar in Bablonian captivity and retained it in some form after leaving captivity, but none the less it stands true and the Gregorian calendar is actually a continualtion/updated version of said Babalonian calender.

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day.” (Sunday)
Where in Scripture does it say Sunday or the 1st day is "the Lord's Day" or that Revelation 1:9-10 is talking about Sunday/1st day?

Could one not go "the Lord's day" (Monday)?
