Yeah. His problem with this Pastor is that he doesn't allegorize vast sections of Scripture, or pick and choose which verses to do so.

We all know no matter what Pastor someone recommends, you can ALWAYS find something to charge them as a heretic.

Funny, because he advises Rosemary start with A Calvary Chapel Pastor. Chuck was a Pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa for many yrs.

i have a few issues with Chuck, but his teaching is flat out sterling, and incredibly in depth. The canard about aliens is basically garbage. Chuck has posited the possibility that alien activity, sightings, and other phenomena could be attributable to demonic forces. This seems plausible to me.

But when you are preterist or partial preterist, or want to pick and choose what to allegorize in Scripture, you have a lot of ground to protect, and that includes denigrating those that aren't preterists, especially effective Pastors like Chuck.

he is definitely in the top ten preachers i will listen to when im bored in between putting time into actually re-reading scriptures

I agree. Most Calvary Chapel preachers I know do not use much allegory. They are very sound.

Back off, Chubby. I never said a thing about the man other than if someone was going to follow him, they ought to do some research on him first. 95% of Calvary Chapel preachers don't chase unnecessary hobgoblins. This one does.

I do have to admit that I thought this quote from the jacket of one of Chuck's several dozen books was good:

"There continue to be many questions concerning the "Rapture" of the Church and its apparent contrast with the "Second Coming" of Jesus Christ. Where does this strange view come from? Is the term "rapture" even in the Bible?
Clearly, the idea of the Rapture can be considered the most preposterous belief in Biblical Christianity."

I can understand your insecurities. If I held eschatological views like you, I'd be insecure as well.

Rosemary asked for suggestions. You could have simply gave your suggestion and moved on, but your insecurity mingled with arrogance couldn't allow you to do that. So I'd say YOU need to back off.

Your entire intent is defame someone who views Scripture differently than you. Had you posted a preterist guy, I would have let it slide, and let Rosemary decide by having the Holy Spirit guide her.

Completely disingenuous to say " all I said was to research" Who you think your fooling with that garbage?


AND, if by chubby you mean fat, yeah I could lose a pound or 2, but not much more than that!

I enjoyed the story of Joseph too. :) He reminds me of Jesus.. How Joseph was rejected by the others and how he was cast down into a pit as Jesus was also placed in the earth.. How Josephs brothers sold him into slavery for pieces of silver just as judas betrayed Jesus for silver pieces.. Also how Joseph suffered persecution in Egypt at first in the same way Christianity suffered persecution in the Roman Empire at first.. So many correlations between the story of Joseph and the Jesus..

You have just confirmed that you are not a good source for spiritual advice.

Most of us accept the Biblical teaching concerning the Rapture. There is obvious disagreement regarding its timing; but very few question its reality.

To call something that the vast majority of believers recognize as Biblical teaching 'preposterous' is at best insulting and more likely an example of the type of private interpretation that the Bible says should not exist.

And I suggested that you people who DO believe in a surprise Rapture do some investigating of this man before you choose to follow him.

There are 2 possibilities. Either an utter and complete ignorance of Chuck Missler's quote, or a deliberate intent to deceive people as to Chuck's meaning.

To set the record straight, his quote about the rapture being preposterous is a literary device he uses to illustrate the faith we have in Scripture.

It is similar to Paul saying that people who believe that the God of the universe wrapped Himself in human flesh, allowed Himself to be crucified, and die, be raised to life on the 3rd day, so that they can have eternal life is preposterous to those who are perishing.

It was a straight, copy/paste quote from the jacket of his book. He was not asking a question in that sentence; he was making a plain and clear statement of how he believes.

I happen to like the belief Chuck expresses about the idea of the Rapture. I just think he is a bit too fixated on Alien Visitors from Space.

Ok. Thanks for answering. I'm glad it was ignorance and not deception, and I can see where someone could reach that conclusion if they dug no further.

His book from where you got your quote is a book on the defense of the rapture.
