I am confident that if it were important for us to celebrate the day of Christ's birth it would have been recorded in the Bible. Since it is not, I think we should give the date as much importance as the Bible does. Which is to say, none.

But I don't fuss at people who want to make a big deal about it and it is nice to have a season when we acknowledge Jesus' birth even if it has nothing to do with the actual day, which was certainly in some other part of the year.

I wait until Thanksgiving is over before I focus on Christmas decor, list, etc. My pet peeve about Christmas is seeing so many homes decorated before celebrating Thanksgiving.

Having said all of that, I will begin today to decorate and every nook and cranny of my home will have a decoration. lolol

Christmas is about the ultimate gift to mankind, Jesus Christ, and the salvation, hope and mercy He gave to us. It about giving and doing for others. It is about helping those less fortunate. I just do not understand people who have a disdain about celebrating Christmas.

I wondered why most people celebrate christ-mass when it was illegal 300+ years ago in America. And that people in the only testament were punished for tree worship/ Baal and grove etc.

Also, it apparently stems from Venus worship, a triangle covered with gold, silver, with a star above.

And, according to the KJV, God is awful!

First, it wasn't illegal 300+ years ago in America, because America wasn't America 300+ years ago. We were two continents owned by four monarchies out of Europe, at best. Now, if you want to complain to a specific people in what is now America, you are free to, but, just like 250 years ago in the 13 colonies, we're still not particularly keen on the English telling us how to run our lives. (i.e. We don't care what you're getting into a huff about.)

And as a left-handed, God-is-full-of-awe-not-awful, American, I am aware of the reason why many of the colonies were against Christmas celebrations. I'm even aware it didn't become a national holiday until the mid 1800s. And yet, I know what I'm celebrating and I have no problems celebrating it with a plastic tree, a stained glass nativity set, and toothbrushes! (Our personal tradition is to include toothbrushes in the stockings. lol)

If you feel a need to be justified on what you do now compared to what it meant centuries ago, then here's one back at you. Icons were rectangular images used to keep people stupid about the Bible, so how dare you post something like that on an iconography?

christmas has lots of pagan connections for sure. many secular people celebrate it without Jesus.

but i dont think there is a problem if u celebrate the birth of Jesus. its fine. make the best of it.

Here is how I excuse myself: Christmas is a christian holiday, it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. I do not worship baal or a tree.
Christmas played a part in me uttering my first prayer growing up.

It is actually hilarious to me how these days everything is pagan, the flavour of the month hebrew roots movement and the apostolic movement and whatever movements there be make it a point to tell us that we have been wrong all this time. Christmas is pagan, easter is pagan, you need to get back under the law, some even go as far as to state that the trinity is a pagan construct.


I would also like to ask what happens if someone celebrates Christmas? What are the consequences for it? What exactly?

One last thing: Christmas is the time of the year when the highest amount of people hear about Jesus and hear the Gospel, and this is negative in what way?

Did you really need to be excused?

Hmmm, my point was generally, a fact that it was illegal because it is catholic and saint nick is catholic priest etc, who well, let's hope he was a "decent to children" priest and not the other.

Christmas is about buying getting having. Eating drinking being lazy, sweets, chocolate, presents.

All while people freeze to death all over the nation. Who knows, maybe one less pair of pants, socks or an orange in a sock, would be money better spent than on self self self. But then again, charities would probably use it for the Christmas party.

I would take this serious from you, except I know you have already listed every excuse possible for why you can't help the needy. How many people could you help every month if you didn't think it was more important to have a gadget (whether mobile, tablet, laptop or computer) and Internet access?

Always judging everyone else hard enough to excuse yourself from doing anything BUT judging others.

I've seen a couple houses where they only put up about 4 lights and then they have the grinch on the ground "stealing" all the rest of the lights.

I so want to do that. But my wife would be really upset.

My rule is that no Christmas stuff goes up until after Thanksgiving. I pretend it is a national law.

Yeah,but I for one take offense to "disrespecting" Jesus's name and birthday and claiming to be a Christian,especially someone who is a previous member.
