I have great difficulty understanding the lunacy that says one can know Christ and know the joy of forgiveness of their sin and then just decide to walk away and return to sin and woe.

So great is the work that Christ has done to change me from dead and lost in sin to alive for eternity in Christ it is simply beyond my comprehension to understand how any could desire to return to the former state.

Butterflies do not seek to become caterpillars but seek to reproduce. Christians testify of what Christ has done and others are drawn to Christ.

For the cause of Christ

Me too. And we're not the only ones.

John 6:67-68
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

Despite years of Bible study and talking to many people, I have not yet had anyone show me a verse that clearly says "once saved, always saved?" Is there such a verse in the Bible, or is the doctrine of eternal security a conclusion from study of Scriptural themes and principles?
John 6.39;10.27-28; 2 Tim 1.9; 1 Peter 1.2; Eph1.3 foll; Phil 1.6; 2 Thess 2.13; etc

The Bible is not real. I cannot find the word Bible in the Bible. Fake news!

(This trick does not work in Finnish btw, in the Finnish bible the word Raamattu which means Bible is actually used in Galatians! Checkmate english!)

1 Jn 5:13
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
KJV

Very simply : If ye have eternal life now you can't loose it or it wasn't eternal when you had it. Words don't change meanings just because we want them to mean something else.

There is no such verse and you only been hearing a lie "once saved always saved."
Matthew 18:
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED.

THIS IS EVERYWHERE.

Just remember, the Bible basically says these things, roughly:

no one can pluck the sheep from Jesus hand,

Saved people are predestined to be confirmed to the image of Jesus Christ,

We are deemed saved from the beginning of everything before the earth began.

We have works predestined for us of God.

Jesus has sheep in this fold, but must go and GET sheep in other folds (yards etc).

If I can lose salvation, I AM STRONG ENOUGH TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM THE HAND OF GOD. This is nonsense. And anyone saying I can walk out, means I am plucking myself out, and, God measure the sky's with universe with handspans, so get walking if you thing you can lose salvation.

A definitely saved person, WILL, no matter what, follow Jesus Christ and become a more godly Christian over time. We will sin, but less over time. We may get depressed like Paul seems to be at times. We may get scourged and punished, whilst being moulded by the "POTTER", scraping the crud away from us (sin, worry, disobedience. Etc).

But we will endure until the end as we are predestined to do so. It's God's plan, he never fails. It's his will, HE kills, he heals, scourges, he plagues, he makes alive. WE HAVE NO, OR LIMITED, WILL.

THEREFORE, doesn't this all mean Christianity is a "Once saved, always saved" religion??? I think so. But for you, I can't say...

Some excellent verses here: Praise the Lord the believer in Christ has security, assurance, and joy unspeakable.

The unbeliever does not have it!

Nope.

Salvation is not of works.

But apparently keeping hold onto that salvation is pretty slippery. Any second it can be lost. Like the keys to your car.

Oh, no. Has anyone seen my salvation? It was here a second ago... Did you check under the cushions? Maybe you left it at work?

Maybe it wasn't an accident. Maybe you purposed to stop believing and snatch yourself away from Gods Hand. Apparently He doesn't know the power that you possess...

HA! :) :) :)

Hmmm!

So if an unbeliever has eternal death, he can never lose that either?
Umm, I think if an unbeliever has eternal death, it probably means there a vessel of wrath fitted for destruction?? Maybe? As not all are saved. We just do what God puts us forward to do, apparently. Trying to find/be led, to other lost sheep in different folds etc, maybe?

The unbeliever was not saved so the once saved portion does not belong to him/her.

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

John 10:27-29
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Hebrews 13:5 - Did I say that Jesus leaves a person? I asked for a verse that says clearly that once a person is saved that they will always be saved.

John 10:27-29: The sheep who is continuing (Greek present tense) to hear and continuing to follow (Greek present tense) will always be secure in the Father's hand

Ephesians 2:8: Exactly: We are saved by grace through faith!

But if a sheep stops hearing then they are no longer in the Fathers hand?

So then, at one point they were in Gods Hand, but then God plucked them from His Own Hand?

Note the quote from me (Chester) #650 - I changed what I wrote but Dai3234 responded before I had changed it.

Just noting it to avoid confusion.

"But if a sheep stops hearing then they are no longer in the Fathers hand?"
Note that you said that -- I didn't say it, and neither did the text say it.

All the verse says that if a sheep is hearing and following, then they are secure in the Father's hand. This text says nothing about a sheep that is not hearing and following . . . Is there such a thing (as a sheep not hearing and following)? The text here does not answer that question.

I was wondering what you were implying.

You said the sheep who is continuing to hear God is in the Fathers Hand.

So, in order to be plucked from His Hand, and NOT have eternal security what has to happen?

I think we really need to look at this much closer.

I thought I covered all of this?

Jesus said he has sheep in another fold and he will get then (roughly), but recieving them means go and grab them in the Greek, apparently...
So, the hearing, also is grabbing and keeping, because you are sealed until the day of redemption with the holy spirit to be with you FOREVER, not just a nightcap. FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRR.

THATS, ALWAYSSSSSSSS.
