Galatians 2:14 This is the Paul who was brought up with the custom of going to the synagogue on the Sabbath. "When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?"

Acts 15:28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:
You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.Farewell.
What? No mention of ten commandment's? Why? Love could not be commanded
The Holy Spirit was given to teach us: to take away our broken heart of stone
"A new commandment I give to you, that you Love one another; as I Loved you that you Love one another.
Obviously for those mature in Faith: about following Jesus in His suffering and death.

We see from Heb 7v12 that a 'change of the law had to be made and in 8v10 also a change of heart in people...so we can receive the new teaching ! Let us be open and receptive !

It would suggest to me that the law/10 Coms still stand since only a 'change is made to them, NOT an abolition !...let us be clear in that difference ! christianity tends to 'abolish when only a change was made from old to new !!!
I'll stop here to see if people are with me or not ...before going on...thank you !

The old covenant was annulled when Jesus Died, having left His will as our inheritance in the new covenant: Becoming members of His body: in His relationship with the Father. "A new commandment, I give to you, that you Love one another; as I have Loved you, that you also Love one another. Only possible by the Holy Spirit, writhing His Law in our heart. That I may know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformed to His death," "a dead man is free from sin." The resurrection is the Sabbath rest where our Life is hid: There is no concern about keeping the Sabbath or about stealing of coveting witch is Idolatry. "If you then be risen with Christ, set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth, for you are dead and your Life is hid with Christ in God." "I thank you Father that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes." Unless we humble ourselves as little children (giving up our pride of accomplishment), we can't enter.

to say sunday is sabbath may change the law, but to say Jesus is sabbath is the law, not change the law. And whorship Jesus in spirit and truth must be every day. To change sabbath with sunday is change the law, because sabbath is Jesus

in the NT era do not change Sabbath(Jesus) with sunday or saturday or monday or else.

After reading the 2 replies I can see that I might have to be even more direct to understand people...do you or don't you want to observe the 10 Commandments which are
1) Love God
2) Love neighbour in the way we are supposed to and
as JESUS teaches in word and example ?

Jewish customs and God's Commandments are two different things. The Jews were not following God's Laws, they had created their own.

Matt. 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

John 7:19
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

There are "MANY" who preach the Jews were trying to earn Salvation by following God's Laws. It is a teaching of the "Broad Path" and is not true. The Scriptures teach just the opposite. The mainstream preachers of that time had created images of God in the likeness of man, they had created their own high days, their own "Holy" and their own "Righteousness". For these things Jesus rejected them.

The Apostles taught the Gentiles to follow God's Instructions, not the instructions of the mainstream preachers of their time.

Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, (Old Testament laws) and from fornication(Old Testament laws), and from things strangled,(Old Testament laws) and from blood.(Old Testament laws)
21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

This is in perfect line with what Jesus commanded the Apostles to do in Matt. 23. Moses taught instruction of God, not the Jews or any mainstream man made religions.

This is important Biblical truth to understand.

All commandments God gave us through Moses.

What? No mention of ten commandment's? Why? Love could not be commanded
No mention of love thy Neighbor either, but they would learn that from Moses if they followed Christ's instructions..
The Holy Spirit was given to teach us: to take away our broken heart of stone
"A new commandment I give to you, that you Love one another; as I Loved you that you Love one another.
Obviously for those mature in Faith: about following Jesus in His suffering and death.
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

It is dangerous to pick one scripture and create your own doctrine around it without considering other Word's of God which may shed light on it's meaning.

"As I have Loved you".

Did Jesus teach God's Word, or the traditions and doctrines of men?

Jesus said a lot of things, it would be well for us not to reject anything He told us.

Matt. 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Matt.7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Transgress God's Commandments)

Matt. 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

The old covenant was annulled when Jesus Died,
The Old Covenant, according to the One who created it, dealt with 2 things.

#1. How God's Laws are administered. No more fleshy "Levitical Priesthood" to go to in order to hear Moses. Now God, through Jesus our High Priest, writes HIS Laws on our hearts.

#2. How sins against God are forgiven. No more Levitical Priesthood "works of the law" for remission of sins. Jesus will intervene Himself and with His Life, has qualified to remove my sins. No more animals sacrifices or Levitical Priesthood "works of the law" as Paul teaches.

There is no mention of re-defining or writing different Laws on our hearts, or erasing any of God's Words.

But todays mainstream preachers teach that the New Covenant, spoken of by God through Jeremiah in Jer. 31, is the abolition of the entire Old Testament. This is also a teaching of the "Broad Path" and is not supported using Every Word of God as Jesus said we are to live by.

having left His will as our inheritance in the new covenant: Becoming members of His body: in His relationship with the Father.
So we have exposed two mainstream foundational doctrines that are not supported by the Word of God.

One, the mainstream preachers of Christ's time were trying to get to heaven by following God's Commandments. This is false.

Two, the New Covenant is the abolition of the Old Testament. This is false as well.

It is my sincere with that you might consider this.

Now MarcR what is ABSOLUTELY NOT ? Did you not just say....... ?

Now I can agree with you that :TIME OF OCCURRENCE are different between God's 4th commandment and the "special" Levitical Sabbath as the Levitical Sabbaths could fall on any day of the week. I can agree with you also that the FUNCTION is the same and that is to cease from work. This is what post # 113 is talking about. But here it is were we disagree and that is the PURPOSE.

So let's talk about the PURPOSE of these SABBATHS and share the WORD of GOD.................

Q. What is the PURPOSE of God's Sabbath in the 4th commandment.....................

Exodus 20
8, Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9, Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10, But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY?>
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
A. The PURPOSE of the 4th commandment is that it is given as a MEMORIAL of CREATION because God made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them and RESTED on the 7th DAY.

next............

Q.
What is the PURPOSE of the "special" annual festival Sabbaths that can fall on any day of the week...........

Leviticus 23

24, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a <special> sabbath, <any day of the week> a (1) memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25, Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
24, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25, Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
26, And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a (2) day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28, And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29, For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30, And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31, Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32, It shall be unto you a<special> sabbath of rest,<any day of the week> and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your <special> sabbath <any day of the week>.
33, And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
34, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the (3) feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
35, On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36, Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

37, These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38, Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
39, Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a <special> sabbath <any day of the week>, and on the eighth day shall be a <special> sabbath <any day of the week>.
40, And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees,4 branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41, And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42, Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43, That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
44, And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

A. The "special" Festival Sabbaths that could fall on any day of the week.

The PURPOSE of the special Sabbath of the (1) Feast of Trumpets was in preparation for the day of ATONEMENT for SIN for God's people to afflict themselves in REPENTANCE for SIN and a memorial of God giving his people the 10 commandments (Exodus 19:16-22) and a call for them to be a HOLY people.
,
This was follow by the special Sabbath of (2) Day Atonement once again a could fall on any day of the week. The PURPOSE of the DAY of ATONEMENT special Sabbath was once again affliction and repentance of SIN while the HIGH PRIEST ministered on behalf of the people of Israel.

This then was followed by the (3) Feast of Tabernacles this also included special Sabbaths that could fall on any day of the week. The PURPOSE of these special sabbaths was for remembrance of God's deliverance of God's people from the land of Egypt (the World)

So as can be shown above each of the SABBATHS not only being different in time and occurrence also were given for a specific PURPOSE!

Can you now see that the PURPOSE of all these SABBATHS are not the same?

Had Paul been merely "keeping sabbath" he would have been sitting quietly doing nothing. But since the Lord used the sabbath to do good works, Paul was doing a good work by preaching the Gospel on the sabbath days.

Indeed those were the very days when he could open the Scriptures to both Jews and Gentiles (since many were attending the synagogues). And here is the irony. The Jews -- who should have gladly received the Word and been saved -- mocked and resisted Paul (generally) whereas the Gentiles gladly received the Word and were saved.

Let us not forget Paul's subsequent teachings on the sabbath days as well as the Lord's Day. When Paul attended Christian meetings it was on the Lord's Day. But the sabbath days were golden opportunities to preach the Gospel to Jews and Gentiles gathered in the synagogues.
Thankyou for sharing in sincerity and truth.
Could you possibly clarify what you mean by this boldened and underlined post,
By all accounts i recall that the 7th day is the Sabbath and is the Day the Lord spoke of when he Said he will give us rest.
And so in your post you mentioned the Lord's Day as if there were another day. At least this is how it was comprehended to my understanding.

I think that you will find that Mcubed, while not active on this thread, thinks much the same way.

In fact, you will not find Judaizers, among most Jewish believers.

Once a Jewish person realizes that the intent of the Law is to persuade people that they can't please God through their own efforts; how can we attempt to put people back under Law. Paul and Peter were also Jewish believers.

Regarding Jews believing in Christ, are there more of so called "messianic Jews" (who I think are Judaizers) or more of Jews being normal mainstream Christians?

To follow the new commandment, Just as Jesus said, If it be possible take this cup from me, nevertheless not as I will but as you will." Loving enemies, we need to be honest and admit, not something we want to do willingly. Not my will, is involved in obedience, "But we had the sentence of death in ourselves that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead."

Same thing with all God's instructions is it not? Abraham told not to put anything before God, not even his own son. We are told to "Remember" to give God the Seventh Day of the week He created for man. WE are told not to create images of God after the likeness of man, yet our flesh desires it's own creation, not God's.

This is what Jesus meant when He said to pick up our cross and follow Him.

Most simply don't trust the Jesus of the Bible enough to do that.
