What about the rest? Do you teach it is ok for a Christian to kill, commit adultery, steal, worship other gods, make idol for worship, covet, or bear false witness?

No It is not.

SDA Sabbath law is tradition of man

God sabbath law, follow by death penalty for the violator.

Jesus nailed the entire law to the cross given to Moses, which includes the sacrificial laws, the food laws, feasts and Sabbaths and including the ten commandments, for we are no longer under that covenant of the law. Jesus fulfilled all of those laws given to Moses during the Exodus, completely fulfilling the law and satisfying it completely. We are to put our faith in Christ, trusting in Him as the One who provided salvation for us. This keeps us looking at Jesus opposed to performing our own works in order to take credit for our salvation.

So yes, Jesus did nail to the cross all of the ordinances and regulations of the law that were given to Moses and Israel.

The underlying principal is easy to understand: If anyone is trusting in their own works as being necessary to obtain or maintain salvation, then they are not trusting in Christ's finished work on the cross. For Christ met the righteous requirements of the law, took upon himself the wrath that every believer deserves and paid the penalty for our sins.

Anytime anyone brings in other requirements trusting in them to obtain or maintain salvation, along side of Christ's finished work, it is the same as saying that the Lord's work was insufficient. If anyone is focused on performing their own works, then they are not focus on the Lord's.

Should we do good works? Yes, of course! It should be a desire for every believer to do so, but not to obtain or maintain salvation, but to glorify God. And regarding this he says that we are also building up our treasures in heaven.

The bottom line is that we should be trusting completely in Christ for our salvation. For as scripture states, "we are saved by grace through faith and this not of our own doing, it is the gift of God and not by works." Or I like how the NLT puts it:

"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."

Hello Ahwatukee,

Welcome and thanks for sharing your thoughts. It seems you have not read the OP here before commenting. Can I suggest you read the OP before making any comments. It just saves a lot of repetition posting. Do you have something to share in relation to the OP?

Your comment above only shows you do not understand what the OLD Covenant is and if you do not understand what the Old Covenant is how can you understand what the New Covenant is?

Jesus did indeed fulfill all the Old covenant laws which include God's LAW (10 commandments) and the Mosaic laws written in the book of Moses.

However, you would ignore all the scriptures in the Old and New testament if you believe God's LAW (10 commandments) have been ABOLISHED and is no longer binding on mankind. For God's LAW the scriptures say are FOREVER. They are the standard in the Old and New Covenants and the Judgement to come because, God's LAW is the standard of Good and Evil or SIN and RIGHEOUSNESS. (James 2:8-12; Romans 7:7; 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Ps 119-172).

Those who break God's LAW are "Under the LAW" and stand guilty before God in SIN.....

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God (Romans 3:19).

They are also the Schoolmaster that leads all to Chirst that we might be justified by faith. Those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God are no longer under the LAW because they have been FORGIVEN and CLEANSED of their SINS (1 John 1:9; Galatians 3:25)

If however you are knowingly sinning against God then you are still "Under the Law" because you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who LOVES ALL and need to REPENT of your SINS and SEEK him for FORGIVENESS (1 John 1:9; John 3:16)

If God's LAW (10 commandments) is ABOLSIHED then there is NO KNOWLEDGE of SIN. IF there is NO KNOWLEDGE of SIN then there is NO NEED of a SAVIOR if there is NO NEED of a SAVIOR there is NO NEED of SALVATION if there is NO NEED OF SALVATION then you are LOST because you are STILL in your SINS and the wages of SIN is DEATH because you have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son (Romans 6:23)

Now of course we are saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God and not of works, lest any man should boast (Eph 2:8-9).

However if your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS (James 2:18; 20; 26; 1 John 3:3-10).

Those that are still in their SINS have nether seen him or known him and are the children of the devil (1 John 3:6-8).

Anyone that is telling you otherwise is lying (1 John 2:3-4).

We are saved by grace through FAITH that works by LOVE and LOVE is the fufilling of God's LAW in those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW him who loves all because they WALK by FAITH and not be sight in his SPIRIT. FAITH in God's WORD is the POWER of God unto SALVATION to EVERY ONE WHO BELIEVED and follows him who LOVES all and when he bide you COME you will walk on water.

This is why Jesus says... If you LOVE me keep my commandments (John 14:15; 15:10).

When ONE BELIEVE and FOLLOWS Him who LOVES all God's LAW are no longer HIS Commandments but have now changed to HIS EXCEEDING Great and PRECIOUS Promises in those who BELIEVE and makes them a partaker of the divine nature to LOVE as he first LOVED us LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW (the fruit of OBEDIENCE).

This IS the NEW covenant Gospel of salvation from SIN through FAITH alone in God's WORD (2 Peter 1:4; Hebrews 8:10-12; Matthew 4:4)

Hello Jackson,

You should listen to lightbearer, he is correct. As the scriptures say if you knowingly break one of God's commandments you stand guilty before God of sin. If you do not repent and seek God's Forgiveness you will be lost.

God's 4th commandment is no mans law or tradition my friend it is God's LAW and one of the 10 commandments and if you break it just like any of the other 10 commandments you stand guily before God in SIN.

There are 10 commandments in God's LAW (Exodus 20:3-17)

Exodus 20
3, Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5, Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7, Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
8, Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12, Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God give thee.
13, Thou shalt not kill.
14, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15, Thou shalt not steal.
16, Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
17, Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

all of them are repeated in the New Testament as our duty of LOVE to God and man.........

God's Law (10 commandments) in the New Testament

1You shall have no other gods before Me.
It is written: You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve. (Luke 4:8; Matthew 4:10; Revelation 14:7)

2 You must not make for yourself a carved image, a likeness of anything in heaven, on earth, or under the sea.
God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24; Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Ephesians 5:5; 1 Peter 4:3; 1 John 5:21; Revelation 2:14)

3You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain.
(1 Timothy 6:1, James 2:7)

4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
The Sabbath [seventh day] was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27-28, Hebrews 4; Matthew 12:8;Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56(Mark 2:28; Matthew 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matthew 16:24; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 5:1-21; 1 Peter 2:20-22; Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Revelations 1:10 Is binding on all mankind today COL 2:14-17 THE REAL TRUTH THREAD (Linked)

5Honour your father and mother.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:20; Matthew 15:4; Matthew 19:19)

6You shall not murder.
I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:44-45; Matt. 5:21-26; Romans 13:9; 1 Timothy 1:9; 1 John 3:15; James 2:11; Matthew 19:18)

7You shall not commit adultery.
I say to you whoever even looks at another in lust has already committed adultery in their heart. (Matthew 5:28, 1 Cor. 5:11, 1 Cor. 6:18, Galatians 5:19, Hebrews 13:4, James 2:11, Matthew 19:19, Romans 13:9)

8You shall not steal.
Neither thieves, the greedy, or drunkards and robbers will inherit the Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6:10, Romans 2:21, Mark 7:21, Ephesians 4:28, Romans 13:9, Matthew 19:18)

9You shall not bear false witness.
For by your words, you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 15:19, Ephesians 4:25, Col. 3:9; Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9)

10You shall not covet your neighbours possessions.
Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist of the things he possesses. (Luke 12:15, Romans 7:7, Ephesians 5:3, 1 Tim. 6:10, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 13:9)

.................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

You can choose for yourself if you will BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD or follow your traditions. It is up to you to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling because it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Phil 2:12; Hebrews 10:26-27; 31)

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

let's flip this- if you keep the Sabbath, but break one of the other commands, then the Sabbath will not save you. what saves a person is belief in Jesus, not a day.

what part of " saved by grace, through faith, for good works, it is not of yourselves, it is a gift of God' do you not understand??

it comes from the o.p. saying that believers have to keep it, which is a total lie, cult teaching.

if you or anyone wants to keep the Sabbath, ( I do take sunday as a rest day, doing no regular housework or yardwork ) then go ahead. but do not tell me I have to, I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, not keeping a day.

Okay. I read it. I am sorry, people. I have reading problems and rarely read anything more than a couple paragraphs long.

I do Sabbath, but it does not, and never has, saved me. I do the rest of the Ten, but never, ever, has that saved anyone. Doing the 10 is the RESULT of living in His gift of faith. And yes, I do the 10, and their connected Scriptures, as much as is possible without the Temple and living in the US, throughout the whole Bible, but the doing never saved me: only His gift of saving faith can save us by the Sovereign L-RD's grace.

Furthermore, I am not perfect in keeping the Laws I can keep. I am always learning more, but the discovery of my imperfections -- sins -- does not cause me to lose His salvation.

Be careful Brothers not to try to place Christians back under the Mosaic Law. The Mosaic Law is inferior to the Grace of Jesus Christ. Jesus fulfilled the Law whereas no man could. We are no longer in the Age of the Mosaic Law but we are now in the Age of Grace. Jesus made all things new. If we were under the Mosaic Law God would not have allowed the Romans to destroy the Temple Mount in 70 AD and we would be making sacrifices for our sins on that alter to this day. Trying to put Christian Gentiles to this standard is wrong and Paul and Peter both addressed this in the New Testament.

There are many things that we as Messianic Jews can not perform under the Mosaic Law without the Temple Mount. Why try to hold on to this makes no sense to me. True we as the Nation of Israel have more in the future in store for us Concerning God the Father but we are all equal in the Grace of his son Jesus Christ. Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Do you dispute the word's of God's Son? The purpose of this Law was that a man could get a day's rest in a week and recover and spend time with his family and worship God with his heart. Not with his Lips. Not all humans are on the same weekly schedule as one another, not possible. So as long as a Christian finds one day a week to worship God and take a break from work and enjoy his family I don't think God cares what day it is done on. Fulfill the Spirit of the Law and don't be Legalistic like the Pharisees were in Jesus' time.

Do You think that a Messianic Jew who Believes Jesus is God's Christ will be cut off because he celebrates the Sabbath on a different day of the week in this age? You already know the answer in your heart Brother. The Law was written to the benefit of man for the betterment of his life. Pharisees made the Law of Moses grievous for us to bear. Should we throw away the Mosaic Law? If lived in the Spirit of it to improve our lives, NO. But to put down others because they worship God in a different manner than we is not good either. I implore you not to be as one of these Pharisees for how we judge we ourselves will be judged someday.

By the way, an Age is little over 2,160 years. The time it takes our Sun to make one Orbit in the Milky way. The age of Grace ends with the Rapture and the Return of Jesus. Look for him in less than the lifetime of a man. LOL

.
Hello Beez,

the thought came from gb9 who is saying things that are not true. I have never said to anyone that they are saved by the Sabbath or any of the 10 commandments.

We are only saved by GRACE through FAITH in God's Word and not of ourselves it is a GIFT of God and not of works lest any man should boast.

What we are talking about however is that SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's KINGDOM. KNOWINGLY, breaking any one of God's 10 commandments is SIN.

If your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to GOD'S LAW then you are still in your SINS and your tree will be cast down and through into the FIRE unless you seek the Lord in REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of your SINS and BELIEVE the Gospel of GRACE (James 2:18; 20; 26; Matthew 7:15-20; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 1 John 2:1; 1 John 1:9)

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word

Hello gb9 and Beez,

Please show me in the OP where it says that the Sabbath or any of God's 10 commandments saves anyone?

If you cannot show me such claims, is this statement saying that the OP says that we are saved by keeping the Sabbath or any of the 10 commandments that you are making above, bearing FALSE WITNESS against your neigbor?

I will leave this between you and God. SIN is the transgrssion of God's LAW all who KNOWINGLY pracrtice UNTREPENTANT SIN will not enter the Kingdom of heaven....

Hello gb9,

Whosoever commits sin is a servant of sin. If the son shall make you free you shall be free indeed. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning.

We are sinners indeed but we have a Saviour for those that our Heavenly father have given ears to hear and eyes to see.

Do you know the scriptures gb9?

Hello gb9 and Beez,

Please show me in the OP where it says that the Sabbath or any of God's 10 commandments saves anyone?

If you cannot show me such claims, is this statement saying that the OP says that we are saved by keeping the Sabbath or any of the 10 commandments that you are making above, bearing FALSE WITNESS against your neigbor?

I will leave this between you and God. SIN is the transgrssion of God's LAW all who KNOWINGLY pracrtice UNTREPENTANT SIN will not enter the Kingdom of heaven....
here is what you are doing- you are saying that keeping the Sabbath does not save one. but then , you state that one breaking a command is a sinner, and sinners cannot enter the kingdom , thus equating command keeping to salvation. since you ( wrongly ) believe that someone not keeping the Sabbath is a sin ( gentiles were never under that Mosaic Law ) then that makes Sabbath a requirement for salvation.

that has NOTHING to do with being saved by grace, through faith, for good works, unless you consider Sabbath rest a work.

Hello Roadkill,

Nice to meet you here. Thanks very much for sharing your thoughts. Interesting post. You may need to clarify some things in your post however. For example;

What is the law of Moses you refer to and what is God's LAW and what is the difference of purpose of the two in your view?

What is the Old Covenant and what is the New Covenant in your view?

If you do not understand what the Old Covenant is how can you understand what the NEW Covenant is?

God's Word says that SIN is the transgression or the breaking of any of God's 10 commandments (Romans 7:7; 3:20; 1 John 3:4; James 2:8-12). All who are living a life of KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they have rejected the GIFT of God's dear son. (Hebrews 10:26-27; Romans 6:23).

We are only saved by GOd's GRACE through FAITH and and not of ourselves it is indeed a GIFT of GOD and not of works lest any man should boast (Eph 2:8).

If your FAITH however does NOT have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS and do NOT KNOW Him who loves all and your tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire unless you seek HIM in REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS of SIN and by FAITH Follow him who LOVES you (James 2:18; 20; 26; 1 John 2:3-4; Matthew 7:15-20; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 1 John 2:1; 1 John 1:9)

.................
