Even our Lord Jesus was rejected and despised by His own people. I guess rejection is a way to get to know Christ's sacrifice better. Still it hurts.
Nah just stating that cutesy anime doesn't hide cultural issues, that information is easily found especially in this modern age.I'm no expert on anime but I'm not a stranger to it, either.
I've never been into all the cutesy stuff at all (just not my taste), but back in the day, I used to watch things like "Fist of the North Star", "Akira", "Mermaid Forest", and "Battle Angel" (which I see is going to be made into a live-action movie next year, and you can bet I'll be checking it out at some time.) I also saw the original "Ghost in the Shell" when it came out.
My favorites were always the ones that had very poignant social commentaries.
If you think I'm ripping on anime, you've missed my entire point, as that wasn't the purpose of my posts at all.
I have nothing against anime or Asian culture in its entirety. Rather, the gist of my entire post was a suggestion to just try to have a balanced view of it, and not put it up on a pedastal.
It's just like me living in the United States. I love the USA, but am hopefully aware enough to know that it also has plenty of flaws to be worked on.

Also was clarifying to everyone in general that any show is a mystery until watched so you are bound to see anything random or tasteless.

Have I been rejected? oh yes! I was a freshman in college, and I had a huge crush on this one dude. Through a friend, I let him know I liked him. Guess what happened? Nothing! lol His silence on the matter was the rejection, per se. In my mind, I thought, "dang. I'm not even worth a formal rejection?"
I had crushes but never told the guy. I knew through the friendship feelings weren't mutual. The most recent rejection: I started talking to a guy I "met" here on CC. We talked daily, but because of his job, he was relocated to another country. We agreed to meet in person when he returned. We tried our best to continue to email and talk on the phone. As the day grew closer to him returning to the States, the emails became less. Forget about phone calls. Then... he stopped replying to my emails. Although we weren't "together" and neither one of us officially said we liked each other, it was implied. Well, from my side that is. So when he stopped talking to me, I was a broken mess.
But! It all worked out. A couple of months after I was "rejected," I met this other guy. We became really good friends. 2 yrs later, we got married. lol![]()
Wait a minute. Telling someone you "like them" implies a desire for an intimate relationship?
it sorta kinda says a person is willing to share pizza with that individual.
that's a big deal.
