Please refer to the New Testament scriptures that address God's 4th Commandment the Sabbath and how we are to keep it today.

Then please tell tell us exactly how you keep the Sabbath since our eternal life depends on it the New Testament should be very clear about the Sabbath.

JPL
H JBL, nice to see you again.

Absolutely, Great question, Although your etenal life is not about how you keep God's Sabbath but more about God's LAW written on the heart to LOVE in those who BELIEVE God's WORD. IT is FAITH that works by LOVE that fulfills God's LAW (10 commandments) in those who BELIEVE his WORD and FOLLOW it (Romans 13:8-10).

As you say yourself in your own words you believe we should keep ALL of God's 10 commandments and that you also keep God's Sabbath, this should not be too hard for you to understand that we are living in the NEW Covenant promise of LOVE through FAITH and is it ONLY by LOVE that anyone can FOLLOW him who LOVES us and gave his LIFE fos us.

Obedience to God's LAW is the FRUIT of FAITH in those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's Word. If there is NO FRUIT then you are still IN your SINS and do not KNOW him who is calling you to LOVE and FOLLOW him (James 2:18; 20; 26; Matthew 7:12-23; 1 John 2:3-4)

LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in his people made in His likeness resulting in the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE in those who BELIEVE his WORD (Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14)

It's never been about following the law its always been about following Christ by faith through love alone. Faith that works by love is what fulfills God's Law in those that walk in His Spirit (Romans 13:8-10).

Obedience is only the fruit of faith and a sign that someone is genuinely following God's Word (Matthew 7:17-27). If you seek obedience without faith you will never attain it because this is the gift of God written on the heart (Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 8:10-12).

But if you believe God's Word, your faith will be counted for righteousness in God's eyes (Romans 1:17; Philippians 3:9). If your faith does not have the fruit of obedience (God's work in you) than you are still in your sins and have not seen him or known him and your faith is dead (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 10:26-27; 1 John 2:2-4; 1 John 3:3-9).

What we are talking about is SIN and how SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's Kingdom. If you profess to have saving FAITH but your faith does NOT have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's Word then your faith is DEAD and you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE all as he first LOVED us. LOVE is the fulfilling of the LAW in those who walk by FAITH in God's Spirit. (James 2:18; 20; 26; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:3-10; James 2:8-12; Matthew 7:13-20)

There are only two classes of people spoken about in God's Word. These are those that follow God by Faith through LOVE and those that do not. Those that do NOT BELIEVE have rejected His Word. Those that have NOT Heard the WORD are ignorant and God winks at. Those that have heard the Word however and have rejected God's Word are UNBELIEVERS and unless they repent and confess their SINS they WILL NOT Enter into God's Kingdom (Hebrews 10:26-27)

What did Jesus and the Apostles teach about the Sabbath in the New Testament?

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Rev 14:12; Rev 22:14; Eze 20:20)
8. Jesus is our example and he kept the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24; 1 Cor 11:1; Eph 5:1-21; Pet 2:20-22)
9. The Apostle kept the Sabbath (Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

God’s Law in the NC is written on our hearts it is through love and it is love the fulfils God’s Law in us as we walk not after the flesh but after the spirit and is why Jesus says f you love me keep my commandments. (John 14:15; John 15:10). If we knowingly break one of God’s commandments we commit sin (1 John 3:4). This includes the 7th Day Sabbath which Jesus made for us and commands us to keep as a holy day.

.................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Hi OMEGA,

Nice to meet you. Thanks for your kind words. It is only in LOVE for my fellow man that I share God's Word because my LORD has given the commission to share his WORD to help all who will hear to prepare for his soon return.

Our message is only the Word of God and it is only to the Word of God we point all who have eyes to see and ears to hear because he must increase and we must decrease. Many are called but few are chosen because straight is the gate and narrow is the path to life.

God's Word is shared to help all to REPENT for the KINGDOM of Heaven is at hand. God is not WILLING that any of us should be lost and perish but that ALL should REPENT and BELIEVE the Gospel and FOLLOW him who LOVES all.

SIN will keep all who KNOWINGLY practice it out of God's KINGDOM. God's LAW is the MIRROR to see the Savior (Please also read Ezekiel 3:17-21).

You have not provided any CONTEXT my friend, The chapter is about those of the Jews teaching that one must be circumcised in order to have salvation Acts 15:1-5)? You may need to consider CONTEXT. The BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ means to BELIEVE in the WORD of GOD because Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1-14)

Acts 15 is in reference to having to be CIRCUMCISED in order to have salvation and that this was not a requirement for salvation. This is what the OP is referring to here. The ceremonial laws of Moses were shadows pointing to Jesus and the plan of salvation.

God's LAW (10 commandments) are the knowledge of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS and define what good and evil is. God's LAW is the standard of the Old Covenant the NEW Covenant and the Judgement to come and is forever.

This was posted already but do not mind re-posting again if you missed it. Let's look at the whole section in CONTEXT with all the scriptures...

Acts 15
1, And certain men which came down from Judea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved <The controversy is that if you are not circumcised after the law of Moses you cannot be saved>.
2, When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
3, And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
4, And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
5, But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6, And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7, And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8, And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9, And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10, Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
19, Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: <New converts do not need to be circumcised after the law of Moses>
20, But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
21, For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day <the new converts will learn more because the scriptures are read in the synagogues every Sabbath>.
22, Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
23, And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
24, Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: <what law are we referring to? The law of Moses; circumcision>

As mentioned above already the Mosaic laws (not God's Law; 10 commandments) that were the cure for sin in the Old Covenant pointing to Jesus have been done away. They were shadows that pointed to Jesus and were fulfilled at the cross. For example with circumcision...........................

Romans 2
28, For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29, But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Now let’s look at the interpretation of Acts 15 where you state; because Gods Sabbath is not mentioned you do not need to keep it...

Now we have shown above already that the CONTEXT of Acts 15 is referring to CIRCUMCISSION as a REQUIREMENT for SALVATION. Circumcision is a requirement under the law of Moses. In fact God’s LAW is not mentioned except for Idolatry as a requirement for the new Gentile converts. WHY? Because Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day v21

This chapter has nothing to do with Gentiles not obeying God’s LAW (10 commandments) it is about CIRCUMCSION in the Mosaic law being a REQUIREMENT for SALVATION v1-5

You state the above because none of God's Law (10 commandments) are mentioned that the Gentiles do not need to follow them.

So gb9, if you follow this view through to its logical conclusion, Gentile believers can go kill, steal, covet murder and break all of God’s commandments as long as they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood v20.

I am sure you do not believe this, do you gb0? God’s WORD certainly does not teach this as it says those who are living a life of KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because those who are practicing SIN have rejected the GIFT of God’s dear son (Hebrews 10:26-27).

Acts 15 says nothing about not needing to obey God's 10 commandments but that circumcision was not a requirement for salvation (CONTEXT) and that Torah was taght in the Synagoges EVERY SABBATH where the new believers would learn more about God's Word.

NOW please if you do not BELIEVE what is posted here state your case why you do not BELEIVE what is presented in this post. If you canoot should you know BELIEVE God's Word?

..............

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

So far you have yet to provide any New Testament scriptures that teach us how to keep the Sabbath.

Furthermore re you have not explained to us how you keep the Sabbath.

Remeber there is not one New Testament scripture that commands us to keep the Sabbath according to any tradition.

Until you you have provided a New Testament scripture that directs us as to how we are to keep the Sabbath, all the scriptures you have quoted from the Old Testament are moot.

Hello JBL,

I expected this from you. It is hard to see the scriptures when you choose not to see them, This is between you and God as they are God's Words and not mine. I do not judge you it is God's Word however that will judge us in the last days and there is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed (John 12:47-48)

Before you asked the question...............

Please refer to the New Testament scriptures that address God's 4th Commandment the Sabbath and how we are to keep it today.
This is answered with scripture as requested...

Post # 3102

Yet you say after the scriptures above are quoted answering your question....

So far you have yet to provide any New Testament scriptures that teach us how to keep the Sabbath.
Amazing.

Now you say you believe we are to keep ALL of God's 10 commandments and you keep the Sabbath right? Why then do you ask how to keep the Sabbath do you knot know the scriptures? (Exodus 20:8-11). If you do not KNOW the scirptures how can you keep the Sabbath and obey all of God's 10 Commandments like yot claim you do?

He is calling all who have ears to hear and eyes to see. These are they that are blind and deaf. In times of ignorance God winks at and he is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. It is hard to kick against the pricks.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

..................

Thanks for sharing may God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

Hope this help JBL

Walk trough the valley
"The Law was given through Moses but Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."
The law is not God, God is not a law. Love can't be commanded Except by Love. Yet for Him to command us to Love He had to work six days, let us fail, and then another 6 days since Adam. One of those days with a law that was not good to expose us.
Is the law truth? "I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through witch they could not live."

My Response : I think that you are referring to these Scripture verses :

Ro 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Ga 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

8, And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9, And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)
notice all the left out verses of Acts 15. the ones that make it clear that gentiles were not placed under circumcision or the Law. you even left out part of verse 24

just look at the deception. it speaks for itself.

This is answered with scripture as requested...

Yet you say after the scriptures above are quoted answering your question....

Thanks for sharing may God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

Hope this help JBL
Still more of the same quoting of Exodus 20:8-11 but no new testament scriptures that teach us that we must keep the Sabbath in a certain way. None. Not one single scripture.

The reason for this, is because Paul plainly taught that the substance of this is Christ.

That it is up to each person to be convinced of how he or she is to observe this day obove another day, or not.

The main thing is the substance is Christ.

16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
Colossians 2:16-17

and again

4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord;[a] and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Romans 14:4-6

These two scriptures serve as a witness to the truth, there is no formal way that we are directed to keep the Sabbath under the New Covenant.

Unless you provide New Testament scriptures that direct us to keep the Sabbath in a specified manner, then are wasting your time, and only bringing yourself condemnation for sitting in Judgement of God's word, as you have rejected what His Apostles have taught about this subject.

Case Closed.

Hello OMEGA777, thanks for your post. As shared with you earlier

It is only in LOVE for my fellow man that I share God's Word because my LORD has given the commission to share his WORD to help all who will hear to prepare for his soon return. Not everyone will BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD because it is written many are called but FEW are Chosen. Only those that BELIEVE and FOLLOW God'd Word are HIs Chosen (Rev 12:17; 14:12; 22:14)

The thread has always been about discussion of the OP and sharing God's Word, although many visiting do not wish to disucuss the scritpures. You either stand on the Word of God or you do not. You either BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's Word or you do not. Pointing people away from God's Word is not sharing God's Word.

Do you have somethnig to share in relation to the OP and God's Word?

Joking right gb9?

The post was looking at the CONTEXT of Acts 15:24. It is clear you did not even read the post at all as this was mentioned in the first sentence.

is looking at the CONTREXT of v 24 Which is referring to CIRCUMCISSION as a REQUIREMENT for SALVATION.

Circumcision is a requirement under the law of Moses, NOT the God's LAW (10 commandments).

The Mosaic laws are shadows of things to come pointing to Jesus and the plan of redemption. This is what the scriiptures in the OP are about and it appears you have not read the op have you?

In fact God’s LAW (10 commandments is not the subject matter of the chapter CIRCUMCISSION as a REQUIREMENT for SALVATION and obeying the Mosaic laws witten in the book of Moses are the subject matter.

What was the conclusion of the controversy in Acts 15 as to wheather the Gentiles are required to be circumcised and obey the Mosaic laws written in the book of the law?

v24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

WHY? Because Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day v21

Now how can you go to a scripture verse in Acts 15 which is a conclusion of a contraversy and know what it means without understanding what the conrtoversy is?

This chapter has nothing to do with Gentiles not obeying God’s LAW (10 commandments) it is about CIRCUMCSION in the Mosaic law being a REQUIREMENT for SALVATION v1-5

You state the above because none of God's Law (10 commandments) are mentioned that the Gentiles do not need to follow them.

So gb9, if you follow this view through to its logical conclusion, Gentile believers can go kill, steal, covet murder and break all of God’s commandments as long as they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood v20.

You are not alone out here, I am with you. Browbeating these Sunday people will not change them. Sometimes less is more. May I suggest listing fewer scriptures posts. These lengthy listings just turn them off. I do not keep the strict ordinances of any of the 10 Commandments, but I still honor them spiritually, including the 4th.
