If people are offended by a cuss word or words, then they have more issues than I can help them with.
Nice try...pretending someone is easily offended and have virgin ears is the classic derail for this.

Furthermore,
I am not offended an the word BS or the actual word. I am offended that the OP who identifies himself as a Pastor/teacher and seminary trained has to resort to using smaller vocabulary to make a point. I am offended that someone like you who also claims to be full of light, gives this a mere pass like its not a big deal. But highly doubt would talk to the men in his church using these kids of words.

I am offended that you and others rail on about being full of light, love, grace and joy, and then treat people like me, who see a very obvious disconnect with using bad words as a legalist prude.

I am not offended by people in the world who use bad language!

But, you, me and Dcon aint't part of the world now are we?

And as such those who use grace as weapon and think Christian Character does not matter in the small things, is a hypocrite.

Especially given how you rail on about how it is the small sins the workers do not pay attention to! It is those small sins that make them imperfect. Therefore you are not offended by it, but did you ever stop and consider that Jesus is offended and disappointed by cuss words and those that use them.

So do me a favor and stop using grace as a club and implying and assuming some of us being judgemental and legalists.

So once again,

Would you us the term BS or the actual word or any form of profanity or cuss words if you were teaching Sunday school for kids, teens or young adults? or anyone, or new babes in Christ? Would you use any form of profanity or cuss words while preaching, you know, just to show em that your not a legalistic anymore.

Would you use any form of profanity or cuss words around your wife or kids? Think the wife would be OK with you showing how manly you are, by sneaking in a word or 2 to her and the kids?

You call him Dcon as a new member. Why does this strike me as someone who has been here before? Also one who has a grudge?

Whats with people these days? If I were banned from someplace, I'd move on thinking these aren't of my tribe!

I have heard cuss words on a pulpit. I have used them in my own teachings if a point needs to be made that using nice words cannot get my point across.

If people are offended. Thats too bad. They should be more offended by true sin, and the false teachers who want to lead people away from christ.

Well. Thats been the problem with much of the church for years.

And neither do we deserve salvation because we are baptized. Faith is not an act of merit and neither is baptism but a necessary act nevertheless.

This is my point.
Baptism has nothing to do with salvation but only an outward sign of one's salvation. The thief hanging on the cross to the right of Jesus was not baptized and he made out OK.

Just a General statement statement and not applied or implied to anyone, including DCON

A shepherd that has to resort to being like a wolf to combat wolves does not make make him a protector of sheep, It makes him compromised. The Apostle Paul never had to be a wolf or wolf like to protect his sheep.

I am not perfect myself at all, and I still SIN. I do make every effort through the Holy Spirit to be the light and the salt. Using profanity was harder for me to get over than smoking cigarettes and I did both very well.

Repentance and belief are synonymous.

The Jew's knew their Messiah was coming, yet they rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as that Messiah. So the Jews needed to repent of their wrong thinking about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The gentiles didn't know about a coming Messiah( The Jew was to evangelize them and failed.)

It is why we see the difference of 'repent' for the Jew and 'believe' for the gentile. Both mean the same thing. It is Just that the Jew knew they needed a Savior and rejected Jesus Christ, so they needed to repent of that false belief. The Gentile needed to see that they needed a Savior and that Savior was The Lord Jesus Christ.
I knew there was something missing from my understanding. And I saw this last evening but was too tired for commenting.

Am really thankful for your coming to this forum mercy. Its great when revelation truth is given, for it is this that frees one from religious thought.

I never heard this before but it makes sense, and I've questioned the Lord why He came as Saviour of the world first, rather than Messiah for the Jews. And what about the Gentiles had He not.

Alistair Begg says the best of men are still men at best.. or something like that.
In that same conference Sproul jr brings up the 1 st letter to the Corinthians.. At these times it's best to self reflect because we fall short too in some area. Has helped me not be so gung-ho and point out flaws when I myself am full.

and it is people like dcon who God uses to deal with those who deny Christ as the propitiation for sin to all who believe on him

i came here and saw him as someone who justifies sin

i called him names and accused him falsely

but he was persistent so i went to prayer and the word and God opened my eyes

he was only one piece God used to break me
but ill never forget it

I have heard cuss words on a pulpit. I have used them in my own teachings if a point needs to be made that using nice words cannot get my point across.
A called and sent teacher of the word relies on the anointing of the Holy Spirit and would not have to use cuss words to get any point across. Same for a Preacher from the pulpit, so whats your excuse again?

If people are offended. Thats too bad. They should be more offended by true sin, and the false teachers who want to lead people away from christ.
Oh look at this, he did it, he actually said cussing was not a true sin. Parents, nobody should be offended by this guy teaching your young ones bad words, because he cannot use any nice words to get his point across.

Well in truth, nobody under this guy should be offended by his lack of self control and actually lack of love, because he cannot control what comes out of his mouth. Look away from him and concentrate on those with true sin, you know false teachers and antichrists. DO not ever be offended when the vulgar words coming flying from the pulpit he is behind because he cannot make a point with nice words and has to make the point with cuss words.

Well. Thats been the problem with much of the church for years.
What's the problem? Oh you mean the problem that we demand Christian Character still matters and that the free gift of salvation and righteousness gives us an new exchanged life not merely a grace soaked changed life in progress, through passive sanctification. We demand our leaders not to make teaching points with cuss words because they are not spirit filled or have enough fruit of the spirit of self control or love to use nice words that edify, exhort and comfort.

The intimate relationship we have with Christ and the empowering resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, keep us from making points with cuss words, it gives us the love and self control for others to help us deny cussing, and other things we are powerless over.

Like I said and you went right over. I am not offended and expect the world to use cuss words and all the time and around me.

I am offended that someone saying they are full of light would actually think he should get a pat on the back and pass for admitting he uses cuss words to make points because he cannot think of any nice words to use instead.

This is the real problem with the church today:

Men like you trying to be so relevant you actually think people appreciate, respect and love the fact, you present yourself as just a weak, powerless little christian that should be given a back rub over your inability and refusal to let the power of God control your mouth and what comes out of it. After all, they agree that the true sin should be rooted out.

The thing is this, the 25-40 crowd in the world do not see you as being any different than the they are. If thye see oyu give yourself and others a pass on the lack of control of what comes out your mouth, they will not give you another try. They expect us to be different and they want us to be different and stand for something other than lip service, mental assent and playing church.

They need us to be the light, salt and the truth.

New International Version 1984 John 7:17-18 If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

John 3:34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.

John 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
I hear just fine....and the bible is clear belief = salvation and it is a one iff eternal event not based upon nor finished off by works......

Grace is not a bad word. You make it bad when you say it is your ticket, your license, to be able to live in your old life and still be saved when Jesus comes back.

The grace of God was given to us to STOP sinning, not make it so we can live in our old lives and still be saved.
The grace of God is given that frail humanity, prone to err, can live forever with the perfect Father, and His graceful Son.

Its from within...outward ralph/Fran/Allen and whatever other names and profiles you use on various forums...

Given to us in Spirit, that by Spirit, truth frees our soul, mind and body from this realm of death.

Instant in spirit. Perfect in Spirit. Spirit sealed. In pace then with Holy Spirit, our apt, capable teacher.

If you think having to have works when Jesus comes back is a 'faith plus works' works gospel then you think Calvinism is a works gospel too. Has to be, because Calvinism says the true believer perseveres to the very end in righteousness or else he was never saved to begin with. That means you have to have works in salvation. Calvinism says you have to have works or you were not really saved.

You people did not realize after all these pages of chatter that you are not being true to your own Calvin beliefs when you say you do not have to have works to be saved when Jesus comes back. You people have been insisting that that your own Calvin beliefs are a works gospel and you didn't even realize it. And you didn't realize that to say works are not required to be saved when Jesus comes back is hypergrace teaching, which you are not allowed to discuss in this forum.
There ya go with that cafe blend of having to have....so...simple yes or no will suffice....no need for vitriol, bloviating and or James out of context......Did Jesus say that the work of the Heavenly Father is to believe on the one sent or not? Simple yes or no.......Did Jesus say that those who believe on the Son are having everlasting life? Simple Yes or No. Did Paul say that a man was JUSTIFIED BY FAITH WITHOUT WORKS? Simple yes or no. Did Paul say that it is NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO MERCY HAS HE SAVED US (PAST TENSE)? Simple yes or no........Whose work is greater....The Heavenly Fathers, Jesus' or Us...........?

You've been discrediting Calvinism quite well all by yourself.

You're going to have to make up your mind if the 'P' in TULIP is a works gospel or not, because 'P' means you have to have works to be saved, or else you were never saved to begin with.

You know where this is going. Works being required for salvation (Calvinism) doesn't have to mean those works are you trying to save yourself. You have rejected every argument about works being required for salvation when Jesus comes back not realizing your own Calvin beliefs require you to have works when Jesus comes back or else you were never really saved to begin with.
I could care less about Roses, Tulips or any other acronym....Salvation comes at the moment of belief without one work attached and or fruit.....just as an apple tree is an apple tree the moment it sprouts......wake up....works do not save or keep saved....put that in your pipe and twist it.....!

David, I admire your persistence and perseverance in extolling the gospel of Christ. I greatly appreciate the fact that you steadfastly stand for the Truth; I love you as a brother in Christ. Surely your patience is tried to the max with some of the people who come here specifically to try to tear you down. I am sorry that there are those who are not forgiving when you show human frailties and failings. Praise God we are being perfected in Him! It is a life long process. How much we have to look forward to when we will no longer have to deal with the issue of sin, neither our own, nor others. That is truly something to look forward to! Come LORD Jesus.

Saved by works and saved for works is not the same thing.

Are you saying MUST have works to SHOW they are saved?

I've seen where these types of discussions have been going for several years now.

Required FOR salvation or required FROM salvation?

Saved FOR good works and NOT BY good works is getting real. Works are produced FROM salvation and NOT FOR salvation. You need to choose your words wisely. Here is an example of someone below that I was in a discussion with on a Christian forum who had this to say about salvation and works:

"It is works of obedience that help to save us and not works of the law or works of merit."

Do you see a problem with his statement?
Kind of like the snake......he used one word "not" to completely change the context and truth into a lie......must does not equal will.....and the bible has examples of believers whose works will be crispy fried and gone yet they themselves are still saved (the spirit born a son by birth will always be a son by birth)
