Hi Willie...I am glad you asked this...At Christmas my grand daughters mum cooked me dinner and sent it over with some homemade mince pies ( I do not like her cooking from previous tasting )...I messaged her and thanked her for the meal, and she messaged me back asking " Did you enjoy it ", and I thought I can not say no I did not for fear of hurting her feelings, so I sent her a reply saying " Yes I did, the mince pies were lovely " She was none the wiser that it was the pies I was only on about, am just thankful she never asked specifically about the dinner

Could be a problem. I want the truth.
My husband is the kind of guy who gives me the truth. There is a difference between "Yes, those pants make you look fat" over "No, the pants don't make you look fat. You are fat. The pants, however, accentuate the obvious."
I wear pants that make me look fatter than I am. I know this truth, because I married an honest man. lol
Not a bad question to consider. I mean I was asking myself this question this Christmas because my 7 year old niece is reaching that age where she is beginning to question things like saanta and I want her to hold on to that magic excitement for just a bit longer but I asked myself if it was right to lie to her about santa being real. one could call it a white lie but a lie is still a lie no matter how you try to justify it.
Now that I think about it withholding information could also be lying, I mean technically it's not lying but it's also not exactly honest it it? Crap Willie now i gotta go into deep thinking mode instead of watching my movie lol

I'm going with no that it is never o.k. to lie. I have lied though so don't even think I'm even slightly clean in this area. But if Satan is the Father of lies I really don't want to be in his camp. So I have to go with no it is never o.k. to lie.
There are ways to be truthful and kind at the same time. Even if you say to the person do you really want to know the truth even if it might hurt you? Never hurts to ask the question before disclosing the answer. They might say they don't really want to know.

God loves us all and said David was a man after His own heart and yet he (David), sent a man to his death for wanting and committing adultery with this man's wife. Another name for Santa is parents. (And you can't go with your siblings are Santa, because siblings always want it known they're the one who gave you that gift. lol)

My bf asked me the other day if I needed help financially in getting my car fixed and I said no and Im doing fine. I think this is a good example of saying a lie can be okay

Well I am not sure about that. I mean it is noble to not want to burden your other half with your financial troubles but at the same time honesty is vital in any relationship. Stephanie knows of my financial issues and I do not hesitate to tell her about it but often times even when she offers me money I tell her no thank you and heck even when I wanted to give her money for her birthday this month an unexpected issue with bank happened and as bad as I felt I told her and she was perfectly fine with it.
One thing I treasure about our relationship is that we can be totally honest with each other and are comfortable with being able to talk about anything and this came from us being totally honest with each other.
If I were to lyie to her about my money issues when she asks me how I am doing money wise and she found out I was lying even as small as such a thing may seem she can't exactly take me at my word if I say I am doing fine can she?

This is pride and lying to someone you want to trust you.. men like to feel useful and fix things. You're robbing him if that.
I'd question what else don't I know. If you can lie once when you justify it, you can do much more.

Did you need financial help? If no. It wasn't a lie. The only lie was you were doing fine when you don't feel like you're doing fine. What was wrong with thanking him for the offer, but this is one of those times you want to handle it yourself?
I used to tell the truth something like this, "Well, no. I can't afford the fix now, but I got my big girl pants on and am working it out. However, you can always buy me a Pepsi or invite me over for dinner instead."
That way, no lies, but he knew how far I'd take charity.
Elijah is a bit involved, so I'll let you study that some about the 100 prophets he hid in a cave, and the year he spent hiding in a widow's house (talk about "the appearance of evil"). Now, I'm sure some here will say both of those were just innocent "deceptions", not real lies, but I think we all know better.
But, Rahab flat lied, bare-faced, to the cops while the spies hid and listened to her tell the lie.
