This kind of thing is mis-leading.

We don't enter into sabbath. We enter into rest. Because we are speaking english. If we were speaking Hebrew then we would enter shabbat.

From Judaism 101;

Shabbat is the most important ritual observance in Judaism. It is the only ritual observance instituted in the Ten Commandments. It is also the most important special day, even more important than Yom Kippur. This is clear from the fact that more aliyot (opportunities for congregants to be called up to the Torah) are given on Shabbat than on any other day.

Shabbat is primarily a day of rest and spiritual enrichment. The word "Shabbat" comes from the root Shin-Beit-Tav, meaning to cease, to end, or to rest.

We aren't to mix the gospel with the law in order to be righteous now. It is meant to follow one or the other. The law is supposed to bring a person to the Lord Jesus Christ to receive rest.

But if you mix the two then you get a perversion of both. You can't enter rest and work at the commandments simultaneously.

Revelation 3:15-19

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Galatians 2:19-21

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Hello Grandpa,

Actually it is what you have posted here that is misleading and mixed up. It is God's 4th Commandment that says that his Sabbath (rest) is for the 7th DAY of the week and that the Sabbath is indeed a REST that is connected to the 7th DAY of the week that God has commanded us to keep as a HOLY DAY as a memorial of Creation.

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2,
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3,
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the sabbath DAY, to keep it holy.
9, Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10, But the SEVENTH DAY is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:

Matthew 12
8,
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath DAY.

If you do not know the Scriptures how can you KNOW him who calls you to be holy and free from your sins?

..........
In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

No one argues that Jesus is eternally secure: Abiding in Him, 'it's no longer I that Lives but Christ that Lives in Me." Having given us rest in His death, we no longer have pride of achievement that kept us under the law of sin and death: we are not yet risen or we could boast of having accomplished something more than others who are not. Yet it sais, "If you are then risen with Christ, set your affections on the kingdom of God and not on things on the earth." Having no earthly affections is not prof of having risen but prof of having died with him. "You have not hindered me at all, I die daily." We know that like Jesus, we are not raised the same day we die. So that it is by faith in Him that we are seated (resting) in heavenly places in Christ, where our affections are recalled and our thoughts taken captive in obedience of Christ. "By the influence of Christ (Grace) working in me."
"No one putting his hands to the plow (to live for the praise of God) and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God." The one looking back is not saved and is the old nature, nothing wrong saying the son of perdition: French word that means lost. That leaves the new man, "Christ in you," Living for the praise of God, "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live yet not I but Christ." The mystery of God involves free will, but not the will of the flesh in slavery looking back to Egypt ("For those that are in the flesh cannot please God."), but the will of God left as our inheritance in the communion of the Holy Spirit, ok the communion of the last super but don't forget to have communion of the Spirit. And if any of this is work you have something to brag about in putting others down to feel better about yourself to disqualify you for ruling with Him, but you may be saved through hell and lose your reward.

For this message was preached to us, as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not benefit them, because they did not share in the faith of those who obeyed-- However, we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: So I vowed in My wrath, They will not enter into My rest, although the works were finished from the foundation of the world, For He spoke in a certain place of the Seventh Day, in this way: And YHWH rested the Seventh Day from all His works. And in this place again: If they will enter into My rest. Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, Again, He designates a certain day, saying in David: ''Today,'' after so long a time, as it has been said: Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. If Yahshua (ben Nun) had given them rest he would not have spoken afterward of another day. Where is the New Testament scriptures that teach the Church how to observe the Sabbath today under Christ?

JPT
and here is the final part :

Mat 7:12-14, "Therefore, all things you want men to do to you, do the same to them, for this is the (intent of the) Law and the Prophets. Enter in through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who go that way. Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way which leads to life, and few there are who find it."

1 Timothy 1:5-7, " But the goal of the commandment is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions."

Mat 12:12, "And how much more valuable is a man than a sheep? Therefore, it is Lawful to do righteousness on the Sabbath."

Mark 3:4, “And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do right on the Sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.”

John 7:22-24, “Because of this Mosheh has given you the circumcision – though it is not from Mosheh, but from the fathers – and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the Torah of Mosheh should not be broken, are you wroth with Me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath? Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Isayah 58:11-14, "YHWH will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat; (strengthen), your bones. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. And those of you will rebuild the old waste places; you will raise up the foundations of many generations; and you will be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In; If you turn away your foot from breaking the Sabbath: from doing your pleasure; your own business, your own pleasure, on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight; the holy day of YHWH honorable, and will honor Him by not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor engaging in idle conversation: Then you will find your joy in YHWH; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Yaaqob your father, for the mouth of YHWH has spoken it."

Wondering if your quoting from the bible here: If you are we are still in our sins since we are not in the Resurrection. Good thing for us "Sin shall not have dominion over you for you are not under the law but under Grace.
Grace is God's influence, exchanging His life with us: For us to exchange garments with Christ, taking the blame for His creation so that sinners enter in before those who are better than others. He did not come for the righteous but for sinners. Someone came in without a wedding garment and when asked, "Friend how did you get in without a wedding garment? The man was speechless." And was thrown out: If we could fulfill the law we would not be clothed with a garment of praise for salvation, thinking we had earned it.

I'm not sure of that! God names the first month Abib and the seventh month Ethanim; and refers to the other months by number. Man named 4 of the months for Babylonian idols and gave the other months names God refuses to use.

Besides which, the subject is 'days'.

Walk trough the valley
Languages were confused at the tower where man was building a god for himself and only as we walk in Love are we restored in unity of the spirit. If we desire to be in charge we could be saying the same thing differently and not be aware. Becoming aware is in fear admiration of God: learning of Him we enter into rest and don't need to fix anyone, as we are not saved by understanding and actually need to get past our understanding to be saved. "Lean not on your understanding but trust in the Lord." Understanding leaves room for thinking we are saved when we have not Love, there is no end to His Love and "Without Love I am nothing." God can't save nothing and it explains the condemnation of rejecting His Love. Neither do I have love by receiving it as a babe but by giving it away. "You knew that I was a hard man harvesting where I had not planted and gathering where I had not worked: you should have given my money to investors so that I could have gained interest from others." Those of you who think you know, remain where you are, it's an order that you can only break by admitting you don't know: to keep learning. Excuse the play on words and humor needing help, if you think you are saved and don't Love your enemy. "Through much trouble we enter His Kingdom." Not called works here: trouble is all we have to show for in the fellowship of His sufferings and apparently we are to Joy in trouble because of sufficient Grace: we only have the Grace we need when we need it. You don't get that ticket until that train arrives: God is not late or early, and we don't have resurrection until He returns. You may taste it and think you have arrived and think you will never have trouble again. "Wars are appointed until the end." Our work ends at the cross where everything that is not of God becomes nothing and we know that Jesus is of God and that He will not share His glory with another, we are called to enter into His death that we may be clothed with His Spirit and be witnesses of what He does in us and through us." A wonderful thing has happened today, have been delivered out of temptation: that feeling of I will never have trouble again, but older and wiser to the call, "Daily pick up your cross and follow Me." We are more useful to the Lord pointing people to the cross, that scaring them from being under the law, but either way Christ is preached.

Genesis 1:14, "And the Mighty One said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years.”
"Moses sternly warned the Israelites against worshiping the sun, moon, stars, and all the host of heaven (Deut. iv. 19, xvii. 3); it may be said that the prohibition of making and worshiping any image of that which is in heaven above (Ex. xx. 4; Deut. v. 8) implies also the stars and the other celestial bodies. The Israelites fell into this kind of idolatry, and as early as the time of Amos they had the images of Siccuth and Chiun, "the stars of their god" (Amos v. 26, R. V.); the latter name is generally supposed to denote the planet Saturn. That the kingdom of Israel fell earlier than that of Judah is stated (II Kings xvii. 16) to have been due, among other causes, to its worshiping the host of heaven. But the kingdom of Judah in its later period seems to have out-done the Northern Kingdom in star-worship. Of Manasseh it is related that he built altars to all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Yhwh, and it seems that it was the practise of even kings before him to appoint priests who offered sacrifices to the sun, the moon, the planets, and all the host of heaven. Altars for star-worship were built on the roofs of the houses, and horses and chariots were dedicated to the worship of the sun (ib. xxi. 5; xxiii. 4-5, 11-12). Star-worship continued in Judah until the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign (621 B.C.), when the king took measures to abolish all kinds of idolatry (ib.). But although star-worship was then abolished as a public cult, it was practised privately by individuals, who worshiped the heavenly bodies, and poured out libations to them on the roofs of their houses (Zeph. i. 5; Jer. viii. 2, xix. 13). Jeremiah (vii. 18) describes the worship of the queen of heaven to have been more particularly common among the women."

Romans 2- Paul states " gentiles do not have the Law ". clear enough ?

use any screen name you want, your still wrong.
Romans 2

Romans 2:12, “For as many as have sinned without the Law, will also perish without the Law, and as many as have sinned in the Law, will be judged by the Law.”

clear enough?
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; )(Rom 2:14-15 KJV)

Which show the work of the Law written in their hearts. Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Divinity; so that they are without excuse:
(Rom 1:19-20 KJV)

He lighteth every man that cometh into the world. For God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Rom 12:3; John 1:9)

For GOD has said, "Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (That is, to bring Christ, the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments down from above Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (That is, to bring up Christ, the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word (Christ; the Word, the commandments manifested in the flesh, our flesh) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, in thy heart, and in thy hand: that we may do it; that is, THE WORD OF FAITH, which we preach. And that is the Gospel, the Kingdom of GOD (CHRIST) in you. For GOD hath said,"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them." And HE shall be our GOD and we shall be HIS people, for it is GOD that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure. Christ (the Word, His Commandments, GOD's will) in us the hope of Glory. For without this faith it is impossible to please GOD.

For God It was never about doing the written law. His intent in us has always been the Faith that worketh love. The following text which were shared above show the connection between the Old Testament and New. These verses shared above in Romans 10:6-8; Deut. 30:11-14 ; Hebrews 8:10,11; Jeremiah 31:33 are all speaking of GOD's gift of enabling us through HIS Spirit to be as HE would have us be. Please notice that this gift which is the Good News; the Gospel was availed to us from the beginning of Moses ministry if not even from the time of the fall in Eden. For the LORD thy GOD will circumcise thy heart and the heart of thy seed with HIS commandments and statutes contained in the book of the Law. So let's walk and grow in the Faith, HIS Grace has enabled us.

we are to keep these commands- Believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. 1st John 3.

Hebrews 4:1-11, "Therefore, since a promise of entering His rest remains, let us fear so that none of you should come short of it. Are you sure it was GOD and not man who named the months?

Besides which, the subject is 'days'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_calendar
Wiki is correct according to the most prevalent school of rabbinic teaching.

Nissan (a Babylonian idol) is man's name for the month God named Abib.

Ex 12:1-2
And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
KJV

Ex 13:4-5
4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
KJV

Tishri (a Babylonian idol) is man's name for the month God named Ethanim.

1 Ki 8:2
2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
KJV

Rabbinic tradition names (Tishri) Ethanim the first month and celebrates 'Rosh haShannah'; on the first day of Ethanim, the seventh month, which Lev23 calls 'Yom T'ruah' .

Lev 23:24
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
KJV

memorial of blowing of trumpets 'Yom T'ruah' Day of sounding or Day of blowing

The rabbinic manipulation of the eighth and ninth months is done to prevent 15Abib or 10Ethanim from on falling on the day before or the day following a Sabbath. It still averages 354 days/yr. This is at least partly motivated by a desire to deny a Sunday resurrection. The problem is that the practice didn't start until the 7th century A.D.

Seven times every 19 years, God's calendar adds an extra 30 day month to keep the seasons alligned.

7*384 + 12*354 = 6936 days in 19 years. 365.25*19 = 3639.75 days

An extra day is added to the 8th month 4 times every 19 years to correct the difference.

What has that to do with Christianity?
Probably very little.

You were the one who posted about the Jewish calendar saying it was unimportant because it was from man.

I questioned your statement. You posted a version of the Jewish Calendar that was substantially different from the one I use.

I explained the difference between the one I see God's hand in and the one you posted.

If you don't think it is relevant why did you raise the issue in the first place.

When you post on a topic, YOU open the topic for discussion.

I would not have brought it up but I thought that what I believed to be inaccurate on your part should be questioned.

Many believers find the OT very relevant to understanding both sound doctrine and historical perspective.

Since many Christian observances have their roots in the appointed times of Lev chapter 23; and since those appointed times are determined by the Jewish Calendar I thought a correct understanding of the calendar might be of interest to some.
