Yeah I got that impression. Guns are blazing and I poke my nose in. I get hit because people are really uptight, hot on the trigger and shooting at anything moving.
Sorry if I hit you when you were just spectating.

I, on the other hand, try to consider what I understand as a reality, and whether it is Monday, Wednesday, or a Saturday, I am pretty directly saying the same thing today as I said yesterday.
I'd be interested in your answer to some of the hypotheticals you queried.

I just want everyone to know that I don't and haven't taken offense to anything Willie has stated in this thread. Honestly I'm not a fan of name calling or labeling but after the last election there has been a lot of that going on. I digress... the point I am trying to make now is that I am a firm believer of the agree to disagree.

I have found many times that we on different sides can sometimes be saying the same thing using different words or having a different understanding. I am a firm believer in the 10 commandments as I do believe they are the rules given by God written in stone with His own finger to show us that we are in need of a Savior and that they don't save us but show us our need of Jesus.

Thou shalt not lie/bear false witness is one of the 10. God said/wrote it I believe it and many times He also asked us to obey I believe that too. It won't be a free for all in the earth made new after sin and death has been done away with. God's rules will still apply.

It's o.k. if Willie wants to believe the way he wants to as we are all created with free will and we each have our opinions.

I'm not mad or trying to cause a fight etc. Just stating my belief and/or opinion doesn't make me any more right or wrong than Willie and same goes for his opinion.

I still stand by it is really never o.k. to lie the truth is always better as if you know a person is trying to always be honest you are more apt to trust the words that come out of their mouth. If you have caught them in a lie it makes it harder to trust them.

Even the Bible says the truth will set you free.

So if I have offended you Willie or angered you in any way I am truly sorry but I have enjoyed the discussion this thread has promoted and I still have a friend in Willie and hope he feels the same way. Because at most times I can agree to disagree.

i would say a lie is any form of deception

even if there are truths mixed in or even omission

and a truth is something that is.

wether its explained with words or shown or unknown

I think this is where Pharisaical hair-splitting comes into its own, and flourishes in humanistic rationalizations.

Well, that's kind of one of the differences between you and me. You certainly do seem to go by whatever particular mood you are in on a given day. I, on the other hand, try to consider what I understand as a reality, and whether it is Monday, Wednesday, or a Saturday, I am pretty directly saying the same thing today as I said yesterday.
Yup. Everyone that disagrees with you is a blowhard.

That's what is sad!

Hey, it was about the last election. And I know you will take on the loaded-for-bear attitude a lot longer than I would. (A LOT longer. lol) But I have this thing against people hurting my friends. Just as long as you're okay.

So, what would you call the entire scene of Moses' infancy? The hiding him in the bulrushes... the claiming to simply be a "Wet Nurse" by his mother, her never coming forward to tell the truth that he was actually her son? According to you, she should have told them the truth so they could kill him.
The Egyptians could not have killed Moses when the princess took him out of the Nile because that would have been against their law. They believed that if you were thrown in the Nile to drown and came out alive, you could not been harmed. You were set free. Pharoh would have transgressed his own laws if he ordered his people to kill Moses.

The other point to consider is that the princess knew that Moses was a Hebrew baby, and maybe the princess knew that there was a relation between Moses and his sister. It is definitely not clear from the Bible.

The bible has examples of people who lied and seemingly were not rebuked or condemned for it...Rahab lied about the spies in her home for one.....maybe motive is at the core of the issue....God hates liars (Proverbs 6) so....what do we do with the anomolies found within scripture.........
Contexts .

Yes, you are so right. OF COURSE context means everything. That is why the question was asked as it was in the OP...... to hopefully encourage some thoughtful contemplation, rather than maybe doing something like just blurting out an assumed "Commandment" that was never given.

But, being put into a basket that was very obviously designed and intended to float and preserve life, the idea of "being thrown in the Nile to drown" would not have even been a consideration.

Better than expectorating I guess.
Unless one is pre-expectoraing with a view to post-spectating on the basis that one is pre-spectating to ones response which was to expectorating.

Several of you seem to think being deceptive to the maximum is not a form of lying. If you can convince yourselves of that... and God, go for it. I, personally, can't make myself believe that the truth was paramount, just because you didn't form some specific words with your mouth.
what is "deceptive to the maximum"?
