I'm closing in on a 1400lb powerlifting total. Squats are lagging behind a little bit. Hopefully deadlifts with increase to make up for it.

I'm hoping to be at or really close to 1400 at the upcoming meet in september.
Amen Grandpa!

It is God who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Did you ever read of the true story of Chariots of Fire? In it the man talks about when he runs - he feels God's pleasure.

God made him to run to the glory of God and he won the gold and came back and was a missionary to the Chinese who listened to him because of his achievements but it was really God in him compelling him to do the Father's pleasure that was in him.

I was recently in a discussion with my brother in law (who is 60 years old now) and he has worked out for most of his life, but is getting frustrated that lately he is getting what some call "man boobs." Does anyone know the best way for older men who have that problem to get rid of that?

Some times it's a side effect of some drugs. It's called gynecomastia. Drugs like Tagamet ( generic name - Cimetidine ) can do this. Get him to check and see if he is on any drugs that can cause this rare side effect.

Yes! Incline bench presses! Its the only bench press that I do. They prevent man boobs. Regular bench press makes the lower pecs grow, which is what you don't want. AND even though I only do incline presses, if/when I switch to regular presses I can actually use heavier weights because incline presses are harder to do.

Thanks! Maybe I will switch to incline bench only when I bench press. I don't want to end up with man boobs!

It took a few years since I've hit a few bumps along the road, but that's what health is all about....a lifestyle. You fall, you get back up again. :) After a breakup last year, I decided to get healthy and this year was me working my butt off to get to that 100 pound mark.

As some of you know, I am a fitness coach as well as a life coach. Fitness and being healthy is something I am very passionate about. I am already working with some people to push them to get to their goals.

I wanted to start this to see who else is into fitness? What are some things you do in order to get healthy? I'd love to hear your stories on here on how you wanted to get healthy. I want to hear all about your success stories as well :) I have lost 80 pounds!

Tell me all the stories.
I work at UPS apparently moving a thousand packages a day keeps your from getting fat and makes you a decent amount more muscular. I also liked playing football so that helped while i was in public school, track sucks *drops the mic

I usually just eat beef, and drink water when I want to lose weight. I got a $243 electric bill this month, so I guess I have to fast awhile.

In one of the local trade and sell magazines a few years ago, some one was trying to sell a weight bench and 250 lbs of weights. Or they was also willing to trade it for a PS2. That's how long ago it was. The PS2 was still the rage. That person gave up weight training it seems. :D :)

I've got another powerlifting meet coming up in march.

Still hoping to hit that elusive (for me) 1400lb total.

Currently making the transition from volume work to higher intensity until I am doing singles a couple weeks before the meet.

I've stayed the same weight for about 2yrs but still gaining a little muscle and a little strength. The goal is to stay below 231 which is the top of my weight class. I don't consciously have to eat different or anything to maintain this weight. Its just where I naturally fall.

Awesome job on the weight loss Shineyourlight!!

I want to own my own home, so I can set up my own gym. NO CARDIO. My gym is a 40 minute drive.
