"speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ"-Ephesians 4:15

What we have is the right to discernment.

"By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother."-1 John 3:10

I don't have to consider anyone a brother or sister just because they say they are one. The Bible tells us how we can know. John says it's obvious. How obvious is our salvation? We have to examine ourselves. That way we'll know with certainty whether or not we are saved and ready to meet Jesus when he returns.

Certainty does not come from a once saved always saved doctrine. The Bible says certainty comes from being like him in this life. So 'make your calling and election sure' (that is, be sure of it). Walk in the Spirit and do what Jesus did. Then you will have no fear and uncertainty about the day of his return, and you will not be deceived by a once saved always saved doctrine into thinking you're saved when you're really not.
Here is how we will know that we are from the truth and will set our hearts at rest in his presence:

20 if our hearts know something against us, God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

21 Dear friends, if our hearts know nothing against us, we have confidence in approaching God;

22 then, whatever we ask for, we receive from him; because we are obeying his commands and doing the things that please him.

23 This is his command: that we are to trust in the person and power of his Son Yeshua the Messiah and to keep loving one another, just as he commanded us.

24Those who obey his commands remain united with him and he with them. Here is how we know that he remains united with us: by the Spirit whom he gave us.

Holy Spirit is our witness that we obey His commands.

This is Hebrew to English. Notice, commands, not commandments. What Holy Speaks to us personally. United with Him as one.

1 John 5:18 We know that the person who has been born from God does not go on sinning. Rather, the Son of God protects them, and the evil one cannot harm them. ISV

We know that everyone who has God as his Father does not go on sinning; on the contrary, the Son born of God protects him, and the Evil One does not touch him. 19 We know that we are from God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the Evil One. Hebrew to English.

Does your heart cry out My Father, My God? There's the inner witness of Holy Spirit.

At the end of the day it is not my intention per se.....only to open eyes.....and my post is valid, yet 10 to 1 it will be rejected because he/she cannot accept correction because it goes contrary to his/her belief....like the Methodist I witnessed to in 1990....He believed that God would not send a decent moral man who had done good works to hell and his exact words..."If it "my belief system" was good enough for my daddy and granddaddy then it is good enough for me" At the end of the day, the verb tense is clear and in both cases shows a future event or a series of habitual future events concerning sin are covered under grace that is bounding ahead of our sin.....people need to get through their heads that God deals with sin differently in a believer than he does in one who is lost.....The blood of JESUS continually cleanses us and covers us as God's grace bounds ahead and deals with sin in our lives.....this is not an excuse to keep on sinning or live as we choose, but rather a permanent position of grace afforded unto believers........
Is this what you call “FORGIVEN IS FORGIVEN” as in all sins PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE were already forgiven so a believer has no need to ask for forgiveness anymore?

2 Peter 1:9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his PAST SINS.

Hebrews 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the SINS COMMITTED UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.

Matthew 6:12-15 forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

ANOTHER CLEAR MAN-MADE DOCTRINE YOU PUSH HERE WHICH IS CONTRARY TO THE ABOVE VERSES.

THOSE WHO DEFEND SINNING, PROMOTES SIN.

AMEN...the only example we should measure our "spiritual stick" by....JESUS
Philippians 1:3-6
Thankfulness and Prayer
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Amen.

It is he who begun the good work is the one who will complete it.

He completes it in us, not via you, not via me

You're putting words in his mouth. That isn't what he said. A believer still does ask for forgiveness when he/she fails. James 5:16- Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other

The context of 1 Corinthians 3:5-11 is REWARDS, not salvation. You can have no works of service and still be saved, but you can not have no works of moral righteousness and still be saved.

You yourself point out that the dead faith in James 2 is no faith at all. If Paul is saying the person who has nothing but his salvation with no works of righteousness attached (dead faith) he will be saved nonetheless, then he is directly contradicting both John and James who say the person with no change of life is NOT saved.

The passage is about REWARDS for works of service in the body, and building, and field of God. That is what 'work' has no bearing on your salvation. But your moral obedience, that does have bearing on your salvation because if you do not have that obedience in growing measure you show yourself to have a dead faith, the faith that can not save.
James 2 is more about love of the brethren being the motive of treating others well. That is actions based out of love. And scripture says that this love is within us by Holy Spirit given to us. There is everything needed in the gift of Holy Spirit to live Godly, Holy. and Righteous by His power within.

This growing into the image of Jesus is likened to a baby, a toddler, a young man, and a father. In faith. Stages of becoming, and overcoming. He watches over His Word to perform it. What does all this mean to you Ralph?

Do you actually think that we all have hatred to others and would refuse anyone our help?

All this has been repeated by so many, that you have to have closed ears to truth.

Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

It seems to me that those that utter most about works read the above as utterleast..

Evening bro.
What sins were forgiven on the cross?
What's your thoughts?
Does a genuine believer need to ask for forgiveness in order for it to be forgiven?
Or is it to confess in order to restore the Father child relationship and ask for help not to sin?

I can't see anyone here defending sin, but just acknowledges that we do sin.
Therefore not promoting sin.

Good morning bro.

I have posted the scriptures and I believe it answered your questions.

John 7:17-18 If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.

Romans 3:3-4 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

Dearest Popeye, why would God chastise someone for being obedient? You need to start making sense of what you are responding to before you respond.
Oh,ok.
Please tell me who he chastens.

I believe a believer can have a stronghold.
A stronghold that causes them to stumble and stumble.
If a believer has a stronghold yet hates it then to me that's a positive thing (in terms of hating it)
The problem is that most will not admit it.
They fear being judged, condemned.
They are told to shape up and if they do not then they are not saved, or they fear that response.

We all need to be ready to walk the walk and come alongside others and fight the battle with them.
We need spiritual doctors and nurses to tend and nurse the wounded.

Pssst God knows we also sin.
That's why Jesus died and is now interceding for us before God. Even as I write this.
So,we "come alongside"

What exactly does this man DO. Now you have "come alongside", what exactly is his remedy?

You got that right...also in their case eternal means temporary, imputed means earned, gift means wage, Not by works means by works, never leave or forsake means to be dumped and forsaken, Nothing shall separate means something can, sealed unto means not sealed unto, etc...........

20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
You confirmed we are saved by grace and that he does indeed judge those that are unbelievers.

You somehow think you addressed those verses where believers depart from the faith.

I am seeing this over and over.
