One major problem I have with some new versions when it comes to salvation is Romans 10:9. Most say the following:
ESV - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Only one who is already saved can confess with their mouth Jesus is Lord. A lost person cannot confess with their mouth Jesus is Lord. They must first confess the Lord Jesus, that is the testimony concerning Him. One day all will confess Jesus is Lord but most will not be saved.
Yes. The modern versions corrupt even the most basic salvation doctrine. I was saddened after witnessing to a Catholic family member that they quoted part of Corinthians 1:18 back to me as "for us who are
being saved" as compared to "but unto us which
are saved." ! There are those who think such detail isn't important, yet one little word makes all the difference between knowing Christ's work is finished, or thinking that their salvation is a "work in progress" that they control.
All I was saying is that in spite of that, people can and do get saved by reading the other versions. Just like people in various other denominations ( Anglican, Orthodox, etc) can get saved
in spite of certain unscriptural teachings, those who use other versions can get saved
in spite of the doctrinal corruption in them. The Lord's mercy towards us is very great.
