I always baptize people like this:

"I baptize you in the name of the father.. in the name of Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit"

That should make everybody happy, right? :)

Sorry to burst your bubble but the original christians were nor Roman catholic, and were Oneness believers not trinitarians.
Seems to me like your a incognito UPC member. I would also contend that the early Church was Catholic in practice, and i would contend that the early church was Trinitarian.

You seem to sympathize heavily with the UPC, and you even promoted Oneness over the Trinity. So to coin a new term you seem to be a TINO (Trinitarian in name only)

And I will not believe your contentions
Your free not to, but read the early church fathers. You will find that their beliefs line up extremely well with the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches. More to the point i would certainly say that the early church did not worship "Pentecostal style".

I am a oneness believer, that doesn;t make me a UPC member any more that you denial of the uni-personal God makes you a Mormon. Right??????

I have studied the New Testament as well as the ECF extensively and the Oneness doctrine wins out. further more I do not know what you mean by pentecostal style, but they were charismatics in the simplest definition of the term.

The Oneness doctrine is popular among Evangelical and Oneness Pentecostal churches. It's a false doctrine teaching that Jesus is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. An outward sign of Oneness and "Jesus only" churches is they baptized in the name of Jesus, rather than in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And, they believe they're praying to Jesus whenever they pray, no matter how they address their prayer.

Twisting The Scriptures: Believers in the Oneness doctrine often twist the Scriptures by taking attributes and analogies of God in the Old Testament, and misapplying them to New Testament Scriptures relating to Jesus.

For example:

1. They take Old Testament Scriptures relating to God as the Creator (Gen. 1:1; 2:7).
2. They take New Testament Scriptures relating to Jesus as the Creator (Col. 1:16-19; etc.).
3. Then they conclude that God and Jesus are the same person, twisting the Scriptures, rather then rightly dividing the word of truth.
4. They ignore the fact that these same verses contradict their doctrine when the whole council of God is rightly divided.
5. Genesis 1:1 Elohim is plural, showing there is more than one individual in the Godhead, as reflected in Genesis 1:26 where the word "Us" is used.
6. Col. 1:16-17 Paul tells us that all things were created through Jesus and for Jesus, indicating that He was active in creation, as a separate individual from the Father (Col. 1:19; Heb. 1:2).
7. They ignore other Scriptures that contradict their doctrine (Gen. 1:26; Jn. 1:1; Heb. 1:2).

Scriptures Refuting The Oneness Doctrine: Many Scriptures refute the Oneness doctrine. Here is a partial list of the better ones:

1. Gen. 1:1, 26 The plural word for "God" is used regarding creation, indicating that God (i.e., the Godhead) is composed of separate individuals.
2. Col. 1:16-19; Heb. 1:2 Jesus was active in creation as a separate individual.
3. Jn. 1:1 John uses the Greek definite article, to differentiate between two divine individuals in this verse.
4. Jn. 14:23 Jesus uses the plural pronoun "we" which shows He's a separate individual from the Father.
5. 1 Cor. 11:3 Christ is the head of man, and God is the head of Christ, showing that Christ and the Father are separate individuals.
6. 2 Jn. 1:9 John uses the word "both" showing that the Father and Son are separate individuals.
7. 1 Tim. 2:5 Jesus mediates between man and God (Father), showing that He is a separate individual from God.
8. Rom. 8:34 Jesus is at the right hand of God, interceding for us, showing that He is a separate individual from God.
9. 1 Jn. 2:1 Jesus is our Advocate in heaven, pleading our case before God, showing that He is a separate individual from God.
10. Rom. 8:26-27 The Holy Spirit is interceding for us, through differently than Jesus (Rom. 8:34), showing that the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and God are three separate individuals.
11. 1 Cor. 15:23-24 Christ will hand over the kingdom to the Father at the end, showing He's a separate individual from the Father.
12. Phil. 2:10-11 Jesus will be exalted for eternity in heaven, and bring glory to the Father, showing that He's a separate individual from the Father.
13. Heb. 12:2 Jesus is in heaven, sitting at the right hand of the throne of God, showing He's a separate individual from the Father.
14. Heb. 13:8 Jesus is the same for eternity, showing that He'll always be a separate individual from the Father.
15. Rev. 22:1, 3 God (Father) and the Lamb (Jesus) are two separate individuals whom we'll worship in heaven.

Conclusion: We only need one Scripture, that's rightly divided, to prove a doctrine is false. Such was the case when Jesus taught the error of the Sadducees' doctrine on the resurrection (Matt. 22:23-33).

Many plain Scriptures teach that Jesus is a separate individual from God the Father. Therefore, all other conclusions from Scripture must agree with this fact, that Jesus is a separate individual from the Father, or else it's false.

Thank you God for revealing yourself to your creation in all your fullness: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Please correct those who teach the false doctrine of Oneness doctrine out of your love for them and those they might mislead. Amen.

Try to focus on the scripturally accurate information being presented. It's a blessing and the information is accurate. These publications are free to dissiminate, publish, and use in Bible studies and the authors even provide share buttons on the page to assist with that. Their copyright page gives permission to reproduce their work if you provide the referencing information which I always do when using anyone else's work and not my own.

Jesus is the third person in the Trinity exactly as scripture teaches. God loves you and wants you to come into the fullness of His truth. I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time with it. Peace. :)

He is an adherent of the Apostolic Faith church which has many similarities with the UPC, but is not identical.

.....I'm quite shocked and am wondering if you realise that what you's do on here when you go to the level of bickering would be worse than whether or not you baptize with the three or the one! Yes we need to divide the Word correctly, Yes we need to study to show thyself approved and yes we need to correct when necessary BUT not without love and there is no love in what you are doing on this post. If a new Christian came on would you have fulfilled what was asked of you concerning the causing of another to stumble when they see that those who believe in God can't even discuss properly without resorting to frustration? or where we are exalted to exhort one another and admonish with hope and love? or 2 Timothy 2:23 - 25??
Now I know these things must be discussed and that truth must abound but according to biblical principle and some posts on this CC do not hold up to that standard :-( I love you all in Christ Jesus....and I hope you accept that this was written with that love.

Right now there are four threads which are on the subject of Trinity vs Oneness. I agree that frustrations are rising as the same points are being made back and forth. I am trying not to raise the energy level. Hard to do the tenth time that you answer that the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit is the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. lol. I appreciate and agree with your post.
