Currently I'm using the Amplified Bible unless directed to do otherwise. It's illuminated several verses for me; one is Matthew 7:7. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (NIV) The Amplified Bible fleshes it out a little more, so to speak:
“Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.

Instructing us to ask and continue to ask, seek and keep on seeking, knock and continue to knock; it's obviously not a once and done.

I use NKJV,

why? I have used it since I was a kid and I am used to it. I have tried other versions. But most of my memorized verses are NKJV or even KJV, so when I read another version that says different it is odd.

I feel most translations are great bibles and can do what God wants them to do. which is bring people closer to him.
 
I personally use the King James Version. I too just find it odd when other translations say something different, but I feel the Holy Spirit talks to me more when I'm reading the KJV, and I always take something away from every passage I read from it.

NIV but I use some others as well. I like the Amplified and The Orthodox Jewish Bible for study. The King James has never appealed. It's formal and stylised and it makes me laugh too much to use it for any serious study.
 
The New Universal Translation, based on the Texas Deceptus.

It has a nice forward written by the Dolly Lama.
 
I use the KJV because I think it s beautiful. I am definitely KJVO. I use both the Nestle and the TR Greek texts, and the Mesoratic Hebrew text; and I use the ESV, NET, and Amplified Bibles occasionally. I like the maps in the HCSB.
 
Actually, while I don't read it, a lot of people here are big fans of the MRV.
 
I only use the KJV. Why? Because it is what I have always used (55 years). Never had any desire or saw the need to change.
Have never had any trouble understanding it.
And like MarcR said, I find it beautiful.

Correction I am definitely NOT KJVO! I was distracted by one of my cats and that got past me!

was brought up on the KJV but also like the NIV, the Amplified, English Standard and the American Standard...but use the net for other translations as well

Yes, believe it or not there is a translation group who are in the process of doing, as I understand it, the entire Bible. So far, I believe all the Psalms have been done and a few of the shorter books and maybe part of Genesis.

It is a legit constructed language (or "con lang" , as they're usually referred to) with a defined phonology, pronunciation and grammar. Invented by a linguist (Mike Okrant, I think is his name).
 
I'm pretty sure translations have also been done in Quenya and Sindarin; the Elvish languages of Tolkien.
