Also, I'm feeling way better today thanks to a switch to Tylenol. A little more pain (very slight), but a lot less brain fog.

I share this here because y'all seem to be the most curious crowd. Appreciate the concern and prayers as always.

good news indeed....

I had an endodontist tell me once (since I refuse to use any codeine based pain killers... I'm loopy enough already..) I could take two Tylenol, then two hours later, two ibuprofen, then two hours later, two more Tylenol... etc... I've done that once, and it really kept the pain down.

Brain fog can be fun.

My cousin tried to write a query letter for his book while on top of the world from some kind of pain killers after an operation. Let's just say what seemed to be so great for him got totally slammed when he posted it for inspection on a writing site .

I don't mind the tylenol with codeine and think it better that Hydrocodone
for the tooth pain stuff.
Kratom has been a great help to me with no or far fewer problems than opioid pain relief for me.
Milk thistle is supposed to be a help as well.

I used to have a Ruger Mini-30 that shot the same as hornetguy's SKS (7.62X39mm). it was scoped and really accurate. I bought some surplus hard-ball ammo for it: 1000 rds for $75.00. Really fun and cheap to shoot. I never got the chance, but you can even hunt with that cartridge (not the hard-ball though). Hornetguy, you probably have some hunting rounds for your SKS. They say it has the BC of about the 30-30 Win. I thought it would have more due to the spire point bullets.

Oh really?? Name one case where a US citizen's gun/s were taken away by the feds who didn't have a conviction or a record of mental health problems.... or the guns were unregistered. Good luck!

Yes, I used soft point stuff when I hunted hogs with mine. I used Federal Premium, 123 gr, I think. It worked, but not real decisively. You can now buy 154gr soft points, which I believe would be a much better choice for hogs.

I imagine the 123gr round would work well on deer and other medium sized game.

It is very close to 30-30 performance... maybe 100-150 fps slower than the 150 gr 30-30 load. Between the 150gr 30-30's and the 154gr 7.62's, I don't think you'd see much, if any, difference in performance on game.

I had a stainless one in .223 for a short time, but unfortunately it wasn't terribly accurate. I've heard that Ruger has dramatically improved accuracy in those rifles. I think it was a barrel issue, IIRC.

Yes, I think that was part of it. I also heard that Ruger's supplier of barrels had some really iffy quality control, with inconsistent bore diameters, rough rifling, etc...

I would definitely be tempted to get one in 7.62 if I didn't have my SKS. Nice rifles. I have the .223 category already covered, as well. Too many good choices, not enough fundage....

I imagine my firearms purchasing will be put on hold for a while, anyway, due to this 3-day old deal....
