After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. And he said to him, “Follow me.” And leaving everything, he rose and followed him. And Levi made him a great feast in his house, and there was a large company of tax collectors and others reclining at table with them.
And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
And they said to him, “The disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink.” And Jesus said to them, “Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.”

One thing, and this is to do with financial management, when one is on a limited income, one must prioritise. For example, if paying rent, that is a priority.
Now I don’t know how much food costs in the USA but is buying junk food cheaper then buying the separate ingredients? Alot of pre-made foods I try to avoid as much as possible as it cheaper and better to make yourself. Sometmes I may get some pre-made stuff

Yes, actually, it is.
Before we had to go with food stamps, (back when we were middle-class), we always bought from the outside aisles of the supermarket. (Inside aisles have prepackaged food and canned food. Outside aisles are the produce section, meat section, and dairy section.) Fresh veggies, whatever meat we wanted (and our stomachs could take), and real milk (lactose free milk is real milk), eggs, and cheeses.
When we went broke, and ended up on food stamps, the fresh veggies ere too expensive, potatoes were cheap enough, half the meat went past what we could afford, we rediscovered something disgusting but affordable -- powdered milk -- and went from real cheese to "cheese food," which is grease, salt and yellow dye turned into something that looks like and feels like cheese, but isn't.
Real tuna went out the door, replaced by canned tuna. Lemon juice and lemons cost too much, plus no way are we wasting the whites of the egg simply because mayo is made with yolks, so mayo just became a necessity for the canned tuna. Even the local birds were complaining. Suddenly the ends of our loaf of bread became needed for bread crumbs in a meatloaf, instead of going out back for the birds. And bread? Not so good compared to using oatmeal for the filling in the meatloaf, but I'm not spending extra for oatmeal just for meatloaf filler.
I even started doing something I hadn't done in decades before then -- buying potato chips to fill my stomach, because infinitely cheaper than meat or cheese on bread.
I am so glad finances have improved since then. Fresh veggies and real meat is back on the table!

I know it's not funny in a REAL situation of no money, but Bill Engvall had a funny routine about being broke.... talking about "broke food". His number one broke food...... mac-a-roni and cheese! He said something like, from the macaroni, you get your niacin and carbs, and from the cheese you get your...... orange teeth....
I've gone through some times where my take-to-work lunch was good old ramen noodles. God has blessed us more than we deserve since then. Sometimes it's easy to forget how blessed we are.

Really dirt poor. I was going to apply for food stamps, but I work and I would have only gotten $14.00.. You have to not work and have a bunch of children...
What is sad about things is the lady having food stamps may not be that wrong.... You can get a bag of potato chips for a $1.00 and frozen pizza 2 for 5.00. But buy a roast it's 16-25.00 (sometimes buy one get one free if the expiration is about to expire....and fruit we are looking a 5.00 easily. I can feel your stomach for a longer time on $1.00 potato chips than 5 nectarines.
Maybe that food she bout was only for the super-bowl... Maybe not.... I spend over 800.00 a month for a family of 4 a month at the grocery store... that is why I was looking for help....
It is not easy to be in the middle... It is very hard....
