I quit smoking a few years ago and started vaping. I actually get more crap from family about that than I ever did about smoking. They don’t get why I didn’t just quit using gum or a patch or whatever, despite having told them none of it worked. I didn’t Want to quit smoking- I liked going out on the porch with my coffee and a cigarette and having a few minutes all to myself. Now that I vape, my family is constantly trying to get me to read about all the suspected dangers of it. Most of it is untrue, and I don’t really care about the parts that are. I feel better and smell better and I’m pretty sure they’re just jealous that vaping wasn’t a thing when They quit smoking.

Or they think I’m a hipster and they’re embarrassed.

I get drunk once a year. It’s more accidental than anything else; my husband’s work Christmas party is the only big night out we do each year, there’s a fancy dinner and we rent a hotel room and all that. I pretty much quit drinking at all after I had kids so when I have a few drinks at the Christmas party, they hit me hard and I start checking to make sure my face is where I left it.

I swear all the time. Dropped something? ****! Hurt something? ****! Forgot something? ****! Set off smoke alarm with the oven again? ******* ****! But not in front of my kids, because when my daughter was three, she tripped and fell and said a word I never want to hear her say again...though, the fact that she didn’t cry just goes to show swearing helps...

Vanity sneaks up and gets me every so often. It’s a holdover from when I was young and cute and stupid. It used to be a rare thing for me to walk anywhere without getting whistled at (and lets be honest here, I was about the only girl walking anywhere so choices were fairly limited). It was both flattering and annoying. Nowadays the lack of notice occasionally annoys me, but then I also laugh at myself.

...man, this thread just confirms how boring I’ve gotten... :D

I don't know. It's a dopplebock
I like bocks.... so a doppelbock should be, what, TWICE as good?

I'll see if I can find one around here. Might just be a local thing, though...

To some of us that are twice your age, and whose youngest daughter is still a year older than you.... you're still young and cute. (hopefully not still stupid..)
I'm sure your husband thinks so, too.

Can't help you on the swearing thing... one of my weaknesses, too. Still working on correcting it. I started out working construction, and learned some interesting terms... I then went to work in semi-conductor manufacturing and learned a whole new language of cussing, from the women that worked there. They put the construction workers to shame....

There is a reason that scripture talks about how hard it is to tame the tongue....

I know it shouldn't, but that comment alone makes me LOL. Worth the price of admission for that comment alone... :D

I was gonna make a post for this thread yesterday, but for some reason I forgot it.

I've not been thinking about the word "backsliding" before, so thanks for making me realize how bad a person I am lol.

Okay, I swear like a sailor (no surprise there:p), I'm bossy, I'm a Whiskey drinker, I smoke, I have an attitude, I drive a bad fuel mileage car...etc....could've said more, but I think this'll do for now.

LOL

Ok, so I definitely ain’t one of the holier than thou…I make mistakes all of the time.

I don’t think smoking is a sin. I just quit and am using a vape and patches…so I ain’t even gonna go there with any type of judgement. I also don’t know about liquor. I was always told it was a sin, but then read where Jesus turned the water into wine. I really don’t think that he was making something to cause people to sin.

Seriously, I’m not coming here with judgment on anyone…just saying, this thread seems odd to me. If anyone thinks they are backsliding or sinning by doing something then I wouldn’t be bragging about it…I would pray about it.

Well there it is… I’ve done it…I’m the first to come here and throw off on this thread…so if anyone is looking for someone to crucify, then here I am, I guess….

The first part of your response is exactly why this thread was started. We ALL know we have our shortcomings, and there are many people that want to "throw stones" at people with visible flaws... some people even want to "invent" sins so they can throw stones. "You play DOMINOS??? You SINNER!" that kind of thing.

Nobody here is really bragging about being a sinner. It's more like an encounter session...

It’s a valid view point. But I don’t think anyone who posted did so to brag (even if they phrased it in a funny way). I don’t see anything wrong with Christians being honest about things they maybe are struggling to let go or even just things they do in moderation that others may take a negative stance on. So I see this thread as more of an invitation to be honest about who we are, rather than a place to boast about sin.

I've always wanted a 1967 Ford Fairlane. With the fast back, or sport roof, whatever they call it this week. When I was a mechanic, I rebuilt a couple of FE engines for side jobs. They seem to be terrible on fuel mileage, but look like they can make a lot of power at higher RPMs.
My father bought a 94 mustang gt a few years ago as a second car. When I got divorced, he gave it to me for a secondary car. It reminds me of high school, but it isn't really my style..... plus it gets 25 mpg, and that's too good for a gas guzzler. I've been trying to restore it, a little at a time, I have a few beers working on it, so that's something.

My son has a Dodge Viper truck.... with N.O. added. Now THAT is a guzzler. I think it started around 500 HP, and the N.O. boosted it somewhat.

I like a Golden IPA.

I've never tasted hell.
What's it taste like?
I'm assuming it's but a craft beer.

I own every James Bond movie ever made.
I secretly want to do all the stuff he does.
You know, kill bad guys, trash expensive cars,
bed hot villainous women with no consequence.
Well, I guess it's not secret now.

Okay I have been trying to hold it back, but I gotta say it. To me it looks like all the craft beer snobs are just putting on an act for their peers. All beer sucks.
