For those who are having issues understanding God's will ( and believe me we all have been there) I wanted to use an analogy to help to better understand God's will and why he does things the way he does. Many of use in our minds have the belief that we know what is better than God even as arrogant as that sounds we all are guilty of doing this sometimes. We want to act now, we want to do things this way or that way we think we have waited long enough and act on our own and a lot of times we mess things up.
You see we can liken God and us as the commander in battle and the soldier. The soldier does not act upon his own rather he waits for the commanders orders. This is because even if the soldier thinks he understands the plan or thinks he knows a better way the commander is the one who fully understands the plan and can asset the situation much better than the average soldier. In war or on the battle field one of the main things a soldier faces is the waiting. sometimes they are on the field for days even weeks just waiting, thinking they should act. Wondering what is taking the commander so long to make an order to attack or how to act but if they trust the commander and just patiently wait they can win the battle however if they act on their own thinking they understand the situation they could cost the entire platoon not just the battle but many men as well.
In the same way we must learn to have patience and to persevere, even if it seems as if God is just sitting there not doing anything he is in the works. He is able to see and understand the situation far better than we could ever hope and so acting upon what we think is right or becoming impatient and acting without his say so first will never turn out good. If there is one thing I have always had to do with him it's the waiting. So much waiting for all kinds of things far more things than I would like but in this waiting I have gained patience and learned to trust him in times of the unseen and you know patience is not exactly my strong suite so I suppose that makes sense huh?
If your going through a tough time that seems as if it has no end or if your waiting for an answer to a prayer remember the commander and the soldier, when the time comes he will let you know when and how to act until then see it as a learning of patience and trust.
