funny......
I don't think the cart is before the horse......
Reason being is as I stated:
FIRST: One must be saved. A person can not live obedient to Christ without being saved. It is impossible to do so. Scriptures tell us that. I often say that the "first act of obedience" for a new believer is water baptism. Our life of obedience to Christ and His commandments begin with our new birth. That life is a fruit of our Salvation.
Saved by Grace through Faith gives us salvation and eternal life. We become heirs to the Promise and worthy of being called the children of the Living God. Living in obedience to Him "secures" that eternity. Paul spoke of "dying daily" "taking up his cross daily" because each day he dedicated himself to living in obedience to his calling and to the Commandments of Christ. He shows he was "secure" in his eternity (in my opinion) in his statement in the 4th Chapter of 2 Timothy.
Yes, it is the Holy Spirit that prepares us to do good works and to live in obedience, but we still must do it. This touches on "free will," and that is a whole 'nudder argument.
