Lightbearer, I was not the one to focus on the "like feature" as any indication of God's approval ... If you read further back you will see that it was MarcR that did that ... I was responding to what he had said in an effort to show him that his claim of such support was wrong ... I don't care how many "likes" I receive on this site ... That is not the reason I joined this site ... The reason I joined the site was to help to bring God's truth to people ... To help to pass along exactly what the Bible says and not worldly opinions ... I believe there is much too much of those false opinions floating around already ...
I have explained why I believe it is indeed supported by scripture.
I have certainly given evidence of my Salvation both on this forum and on the Bible forum.
My children have grown to adulthood happy and well adjusted. My son died of a physical illness several years ago. It had nothing to do with my discipline.

It is ever becoming more clear what we have here ... MarcR is a man claiming that he has the absolute master approach to disciplining a child and it is for all Christians to follow ... A plan however that has zero support from the Bible itself ... But since it is his plan, then it is best for all to follow ... Don't worry that God does not support it is what he is saying ... We are to be happy that MarcR is in support of it and that is to be good enough for us ... Somehow, I don't believe that is going to go over well Marc ...

What is the point of stripping a child bare? What right do you have? What do you think this does to a child? You are shaming him and making him fear you. You are teaching him the violence and shaming are the way to handle problems. They are NOT.

The Bible does NOT give ANY explicit guidelines on how to spank; so lack of specific support for my method is meaningless.
The Bible clearly teaches that spanking is God's recommended method.
The only guidance the Bible gives on how to spank is the way God disciplines Israel, His children, in OT times.
As demonstrated in a previous post, God uses both pain and embarrassment when He disciplines a nation including Israel and Judah.
Jesus suffered pain and embarrassment when he paid for our sins.
Since modern Psychological teaching has removed corporal punishment in the schools, both academic performance and student behavior have declined to the point that most public schools are not fit for christian children to attend.
You cannot name one Scripture that says spanking should NOT include pain and embarrassment.

Yes, it is illlegal and for good reason. Do you actually think that the decline in performance is linked with being hit? Oh no! I mean all the studies I have read say the opposite. Want a child who does well in school? Want a child who is not violent? Be a role model for it. The best predictor of how a child does in school all through the years is the PARENT. The parent is the FIRST teacher.
Let's teach our children to love God and to love others. Lets teach them without the use of violence. it can be done. There are better, more effective ways. I am quite sure God would have no issue with that ... that is why he gave man the ability to think and to reason.

Allow me to ask: Do you take your child(ren) to church? Do you walk with God? Do you pray and read Scripture with your children? Not, do you take them once in a while, read to them or prayed with them like at dinner or in cursory fashion. Are you spiritually leading your home, Ephesians 6:4? It is my sincere hope that you do these things, consistently, and if not that you will take the lead God has called converted father's to do. I am assuming you are a born again believer.
